An Alternative Perspective on Expat Life: Maria Karchilaki at TEDxAthens 2012

In her unique talk, war correspondent Maria Karchilaki, shared with us her experiences of countries of the world such as Iraq and Libya, where the living conditions of people who had to be dislocated are hard and dangerous. She invited us to take action and actively try to correct whatever we do not like in our global society. We must not forget that what happens on one side of the world can have a direct reflection on the other end. We must, if we are interested to change the direction of things, offer our talent to discover our own "little heroes", our own doers, who have the power to change the world. "We can change the world as long as we want to rely on our talents and give perspective to people and societies that don't have any".

Είχα την τύχη λόγω της δουλειάς μου να ταξιδέψω στο Ιράκ, Λιβύη (λίγο μετά την πτώση του Καντάφι) και έχω να πω ότι αυτά τα ταξίδια ήταν μαθήματα ζωής. Απίστευτη εμπειρία. Και εκεί αναθεωρείς για πολλά... Πείνα, φτώχεια, εξαθλίωση, . Και νιώθω ευλογημένη γιατί αν εκτιμούσα κάτι 5 φορές, τώρα το εκτιμώ 20.
