This is going to be the moment where best supporting actress shifts, I have no doubt Ariana is going to take this. Wicked is the most beloved movie with 11 noms and even though Emilia Perez tallied up to 10 noms I just think the voting body being almost all American helps Grande’s chances. As others have said before the EP controversy, Grande has always been the front runner for CCA in Exp App. Saldana won GG cause their voting bodies increased with more European and other international voters and they LOVE EP, so no surprise Grande lost. but Critics don’t like EP as much as the industry does, and CCA are a bunch of Americans that love wicked and surprised by Grande’s performance, with prove that she’s now the no.1 for most wins by critics and noms btw. Also from the past, I remember CCA not liking acting with diff language, that definitely hurt Saldana, AND CCA loves comedy performance especially for supporting, idk where the “serious” acting came from.

I have this theory that Wicked has a ton of dramatic elements and it's something the critics Choice words will love. On top of that, the good press as well as Awards campaign for this film is going to go all the way till next year when we have both Wicked films. That's already going to build its momentum to actually winning big and no one's going to realize it. That's just my theory.

This means it is likely down to 3 assuming the Director/Screenplay favorites stay as is (ANORA, THE BRUTALIST, and CONCLAVE). Also, the preferential ballot is used at Oscars and PGA, which favors broad consensus.

We need to stop comparing Wicked to Barbie. They're nothing alike except the fact that they're both colorful but that can be said about a lot of different films. Wicked deals with themes such as fascism, racism and political distrust and misinformation, as well as the exposure of greed and corporate corruption brainwashing its people. These themes are extremely apparent in the film and the racism themes hit especially heavy as do the political discourse themes coming off the heels of the election. It was the perfect film for the perfect time, it made an absolute killing at the box office in ways that no one would anticipate, it got 10 again. Word nominations and overperform with the Oscars and ways that nobody thought, it also got seven baft denominations despite being snubbed from best film because of a genre. This film has done things and nobody had anticipated and on top of that it managed to grab five Screen Actors, Guild, a Ward and nominations. This is more than enough to justify what path Wicked is heading in. Considering the downfall of EP, Wicked will be the best picture. Contending musical that could very well surprise considering it's guaranteed to win Screen Actors Guild on Ensemble and acting Ensemble at the Critics Awards. This is just my feeling and this is where we stopped comparing the two. It's getting ridiculous and frustrating now.
About Best Actress I have Mikey Madison as the winner at the CC this Friday, although I have a small doubt about the impact that Demi's speech on January 5th could have had (considering that the voting closed on January 10th), personally I see 2 scenarios or repercussions of the GG, perhaps some did change their votes (or undecided voters) and voted for Demi and the other is that perhaps they wanted to give some kind of recognition to Mikey for her great performance after the snub that she and Anora had at the GG (not for nothing until the date of the GG (February 5th) Mikey had 21 awards from critics associations while Demi only 4). Now still, I feel that even if some voters changed their votes I don't think it would be enough for Demi to beat Mikey, 50% of the CC voters are from the critics associations (where Mikey swept everything) and I feel that they themselves will follow through with their decision as an association by giving their vote to Mikey, so I can see Mikey winning this Friday (but I wouldn't be too surprised if Demi wins).
