Our taste buds are programmed by eating the same foods for years so something different can sometimes taste bad to one person even if it doesn't to others. I personally try different foods abroad but completely understand why some people don't, ya know? Oh... and fish and chips can taste amazing if it's of a good quality and cooked well 😂

The points you make doesn't explain why English people are (generally) less adventurous than others as issues with digestive distress etc is easily applicable to others, especially as I'm comparing them to other Western travellers too (Canadians, Aussies, Americans, Kiwis). There is also a good variety of cuisine available in the UK, although this is recent. The food in UK more than 10 - 15 years ago wasn't very good, apart from Indian cuisine and some pub food.
