Great job on the video/production. I always wondered how Turnbull canyon received it name. I never knew about the Quaker history either, well done. If you guys ever need help funding production costs of the video let us know. The videos are a real treat.
You're welcome, and thank you for taking the time to watch. I have many other local history documentaries on the channel here for you to watch... please examine the rabbit hole.
These Forgotten Tales videos are great. You should enable contribute content so subtitles and language translation can be done so many other people can enjoy them.
Thank you for posting these videos, I wish all of our area schools would show them to our students. I also just saw this on my local channel 3 on Time Warner.
I grew up on Beverly Blvd 1 block west of the start of Turnbull. Spent a ton of time running around in that canyon. Driving all too fast in that canyon. I am actually considering having my ashes spread in that canyon.
Been looking up my clan's history. Interesting that one of my relatives did all of this stuff. Lol we have a castle called Fatlips. Story is that there were some Turnbull men that lived there that were a bit too forward with greeting visiting women. Just went through renovations not too long ago. Definitely visiting my homeland one day, maybe Turnbull canyon as I love horror. Makes sense that Robert didn't care what people thought of him. Our ancestor literally turned a charging bull onto its side to say a king. No craps given lol.
I actually researched the story about how the Turnbull name came to be before I made this video. I included it in the first draft script. Its an interesting story to be sure. Robert the Bruce was lucky that William de Rule was on that hunting trip with him.
@@forgottensocal Oh he sure was lucky lol. Too bad William later died during a dual. There is actually a statue in Scotland depicting the turning of the bull. Found that out when I was looking into the TCA (Turnbull Clan Association).
Awesome video, along with the rest of your postings. Can you share any sources? There’s nearly zero information available on the web related to Mr Turnbull. I’m thinking the Whittier public library or the Bailey house would be a good place to start. I’m surprised and impressed by the amount of detail you were able to provide.
Great informative videos and very entertaining. I would like to see one about the parks located in the area like galaster park and Whittier narrows etc.. great work
Los Angeles Herald, October 22, 1873 A sheep camp was burnt a few days since in the Trancus cañon. The locality is in the rangle of hills lying northeast of Anaheim, on the ranch of Messrs. Turnbull & Forbes. The loss was confined to valuable papers and old keepsakes, but the origin of the fire is a mystery. It was not the work of an incendiary or a thief, because there is no reason to suspect that anything was stolen and motives of revenge are out of the question. No fire, however, had been lit in the camp for two days.
When I was in my 20’s I had a white truck chase me all the way down the hill. It was close on my bumper all through the windy roads..all of a sudden near the bottom the truck turned off it’s lights and pulled over to the side of the road. so that happened to me at turnball canyon almost 20 years ago.
I've never heard any cult stories about that weird ass water tower. Is there anything behind that? I've been there quite a few times. If I remember correctly this place is close to the Rose Hills Cemetery.
davidsalinas9 I grew up in the canyon. I love the rich history it has. Whenever I walk through the canyon, I always think, "could John Bailey or Robert Turnbull have ever laid eyes or walked the same path I am?
Workman home is of Don Julian Rd in city of Industry ca is that the house your asking about off the 60fwy exit hacienda Blvd go north to Don Julian make left you'll see the homestead there is also a home where the hacienda LA puente school district is
No wonder this canyon has so much bad reputation especially from someone on this planet property and was a degenerate drunk and a big mouth not smart for business but that was back then lol 😂 ,Great video man just excellent thank you

Perhaps it's where the huge factory of LSD is being made and there's an underground railroad connecting to Area 51..
they should make a big movie about this
dude, this is great!
I love driving the road here it's exciting

not much just a few shameless baldbulls trying to prove themselves by doing graffiti on those tanks.
The cults started around the Great Depression they would do sacrifices on children on the canyon
Thanks
