The Colonel of the Brigade of Gurkhas this month revealed that final selection for the full quota of recruits for 2021 will take place as planned in January in Nepal. Adaptations are being made and there is uncertainty around whether the iconic doko race will go ahead, but the Brigade are confident 340 new recruits will begin training in Catterick next march.
The colonel was speaking as the largest intake of recruits in over 30 years passed out of Catterick, inspected by the Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace.

What an outstanding body of fine, young soldiers these Gurkhas have become. I recall one of your reports late last year about them arriving in the UK. Gone are the nervous boys that began training; now they are young men, still polite and courteous yet now they have gained that familiar self-confidence of a trained soldier. They are a tangible asset to the British Army; I'd certainly hate to face them in battle. I hope they have long, successful careers. Well done! BH

People don't understand how important Gurkhas are too the British army. These are young men you want to serve a foreign country for not money or the perks but for the pride they bring to their families and here in the UK we have "SOME" young people who cause anti social disorders or criminal acts giving nothing back to society is disappointing and shameful in the least. Nothing but respect and full or pride for these young men.

Congrats to them, basic training is always tough, trade training not so much and then when you get to your first stations, that is when it all goes down hill. At least with basic training, you actually felt part of the forces, once you had passed out of everything, it was just like working in a small village and apart from having to wear a uniform it never really felt as if you was in the forces. All the PT, drill etc etc was gone and pretty much you was on first name basis with your CPL's SGT's and higher rankings. Sadly most basic training has gone soft since the politically correct brigade but the hard thing for these guys is that their parents were not there to see their moment. However, no doubt they have the ceremony recorded and can send home. We had VHS in my days :)

Force tv always provide knowlege about Gurkha and there work in UK. The reason why Gurkha are so fearless is because the word Gurkha mean protector of cow, gau rakchak, in Nepal we treat cow as a mother as we drink it milk and the provider of bread and salt is regarded as a mother. The reason why Gurkha can serve 5 countries in world and do it in a manner as they believe the one who provide them food is equally there mother. And it there responsibility to fight for there mother. Jai Maha Kali ayo gurkhali ( even in this moto we can see that connection and importance of Gurkha and it mother figure ( goddess mother Kali and there son Gurkha are there to fight is sort of a symbolic meaning behind there war moto).
