I thought of another question.. if one feels concerned about a data or device breach.. it would be helpful to know a plan of action to help a digital forensic specialist locate “scrubs,” “possible rewrites,” timestamps, etc. I understand that most novice tech users are not necessarily at risk of a breach or a sophisticated cordinated network attack.. but hypothetically speaking, it would be helpful to learn of some key code error messages or network data packet floods that may help a user identify and record a log for a data forensic in the most helpful way. Using compute for intellectual property is one of many examples where the digital footprint would be helpful evidence for discovery in legal issues. Thanks!
Absolutely! Having a plan of action for potential data breaches is crucial. Keeping an eye out for key error messages, unusual network activity, and maintaining detailed logs can be invaluable for digital forensics. Documenting timestamps and any anomalies can really aid specialists in tracing back issues. Thanks for raising such an important topic!
A thought came to mind about the good guy bad guy comment. Wouldn’t it be great if we could turn bad people into good ones. Need a great leader for running the pack. Great video as usual. Informative and very insightfully packaged. You nailed that on the ending. Proacativite > reactive.
Thanks so much for the great feedback! I’m really glad you liked it. Yes, that would really be great if we could turn bad ones into good ones. The fact of the matter is that if you look over the course of a career, in all but rare cases, it pays much better to be on the defense side rather than the attack side. Attackers tend not to have long careers and run the risk of jail time so the economics are skewed on the side of the defenders
Great point! Transforming bad behavior into positive action would be amazing. Thanks for the kind words! If you’re interested in preparing for potential threats, check out the documentary Grid Down, Power Up narrated by Dennis Quaid. It's a fantastic resource!
Thank you for the great presentation! One thing to mention, what’s the point of spending thousands or millions of dollars on technologies such as MFA if the user blindly approve it? The biggest challenge still is the user. So we need to educate our users along with investing in technologies.
It's important to look at the problem broadly and recognize as you said these systems have human decision's at their core. If you saturate a user with authentication requests then they tend to pay less attention. Diminishing returns etc.
@@John-zz6fz I agree with both of you on this. The chain is only as strong as its weakest link and usually that link is the user. That said, we can do a lot to make the job of the user easier, to educate them, to make it more obvious what is right and what is wrong. Human factors must always be considered in security decisions
You’re absolutely right-user education is key, especially when it comes to tech like MFA. Investing in technology is important, but teaching users to recognize potential threats is just as crucial. If you're interested in more strategies, check out the documentary Grid Down, Power Up narrated by Dennis Quaid. It’s really informative!

Very informative, one thing I expect in next years report is vishing; as both AI and deep fake technology progresses its sure to become a problem. I suppose, since its phishing its not going to be ground breaking but its sure to raise a few eyebrows.
Great point! Vishing is definitely on the rise, especially with the advancements in AI and deep fake tech. It's a growing concern that we need to keep an eye on. I wish I could say our crystal ball was that good but, if it were, we’d just stop it from happening every time. The thing about cybersecurity, though, is that you are never far from the next big attack

Did they foresee the massive cyberattack less than 24hrs after they posted this video?
Yep, I noticed
I wish I could say our crystal ball was that good but, if it were, we’d just stop it from happening every time. The thing about cybersecurity, though, is that you are never far from the next big attack
which cyber attack are you referring to?
If is on the Internet then it's public information
