I have type 1 diabetes, and when I first got it everyone treated me like it didn't really matter and it was my fault because people have the misconception that it's because of too much sugar. Something that was really traumatizing for me was 2 years back my mom came to my room at five in the morning and I wouldn't wake up, she tried everything and I just layed there. She tried to find my pulse and it was very hard so she started giving me doses of glucose, a lot, but I wasn't waking up. Obviously my mom was screaming and panicking and called 9-1-1 and the only thing I remember was suddenly waking up for 2 seconds in the ambulance and then falling right back. When I regained consciousness I was in the hospital and it was 1pm. It was the scariest thing ever to happen and the scary thing is I can't even remember and my parents were so scared to tell me and are still traumatized to this day. Every night I go to sleep they get scared and constantly check on me, even when its close to low they fill me with food, and I feel so bad for my mom as no one should have to go through this with their child. I have always been very very underweight for my age and always suffered problems so this was very scary. All I can remember from the hospital is when I even tried to stand up or go to the bathroom , I had to puke and I was also having problems breathing. I know how you feel Sadie and always wish the best for you. Love you

I feel so identified with you. I also have type 1 diabetes since I was 3 years old, and it has been hard but you get used to it. Diabetics must stay together and not letting anything make us feel bad. We must stay happy, this is just a obstacle you need to pass and know hoy to work with it.
My diagnosis was very similar to yours, but the big difference was that my parents did not know anything about it. They took me to the hospital and there, nurses made my blooding test and I was higher than 400 (I'm from Spain, we don't use the same measure I think) and also I was on the limit of being gluten intolerance. So imagine how upset my parents were, my mom started crying and she was very afraid to inyect me the insulin. But know, with 17 years old and after going to 6 diabetes summer camps, I have seen the good part 'cause I've met such wonderful people and I've learnt a lot in that camps.
Thank you for being so real, you are an example to a lot of people.

i was diagnosed with T1D when I was 12 (I'm now 16), and it was an experience! i had just done a gymnastics competition the weekend prior to when my symptoms got really bad but I was constantly peeing and drinking, and I had lost a lot of weight and the weirdest one was that my breath smelt like pears which apparently is a symptom. i felt like something was up but no one knew what is what, then it came to weekend and I finally went to a doctor and all she did was prick my finger and told me I had diabetes like that and rushed my mum and I out of the room, I was then admitted to hospital and was there for 2 weeks but I loved it! my favourite thing was the food and of course, the staff were amazing. i must say its so refreshing to see a youtube who brings light onto diabetes because I don't know anyone with it so having you here really helps! so thank you xxx

My dad is also type one diabetic so he had a feeling and he tested my blood sugar which was so high that it was unreadable on his meter, so we went to the hospital and it was 725, they were shocked that I wasn’t in DKA but they let me go home that night because my dad knew what to do ( my story is similar to yours). 7 years later my blood sugar is in control and is doing good after a lot of trial and error. You are such a strong and brave girl dealing with diabetes everyday and keeping a smile on your face. I’m deeply sorry this happened to you and it really breaks my heart since I have been a fan for very long. I hope you fell much much better in the feature. And you never deserved this and again I’m so sorry.

I was diagnosed when I was 13, and my dad is diabetic too! So goofy that both our parents knew the signs and still just brushed it off haha. My mom told me to my face that I could be diabetic and I straight up said "oh no, I've just been trying to drink more water". I went to my room and googled the symptoms and I had every one! So I literally thought I would just start working out and eating healthy so I could get rid of it... ahahahahahaha oh gotta love it. Glad you are healthy, and such a strong rep for T1D. You're so strong! Loved the video, and I love that you included your momma!

Hey! I'm type one, too and I was actually just diagnosed almost exactly last year. I, am unfortunately, able to say that I remember the experience because I was fourteen years old. I also did experience the worst of the symptoms(major weight loss, i weighed 86 pounds by my diagnosis, and thirst and so so so much sickness) I really just want to say how inspiring you are to me, you go about your life and give fantastic advice. You make me feel like i can feel normal, and that's really the best feeling, ya know? Thank you, Sadie, for all that you do and for who you are.

I was 6 when i got first diagnosed, 21 years ago. My diagnosis was my pediatric doctor said i know whats wrong and right away took me to the hospital. I was there about a month and lost my schooling through that month. I believe 4 years later i got my first pump and believe me that was the best day ever. I didnt get bullied but the kids always asked why i had a pager. its been a journey and your a strong being for dealing with it on youtube and showing the world keep it up!

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was 10 years old and my blood sugar was 691 when I was in the hospital and I had DKA (Diabetic Keto Acidosis)! It was really scary, but I'm okay now and I'm managing it just fine. :) You are such huge inspiration to me and I'm so happy that you are doing well with your diabetes! All of theses stories sound super scary, especially the one where someone grabbed your insulin pump, I would freak out haha!

Your story about the emergency room doctor ignoring you reminds me of something that happened to me! I have celiac disease, and there is a couple tests for it, but before I was diagnosed I took the blood test and my levels were completely off the charts. The doctor literally said just what your doctor did and dismissed it, and then about a month later it got SO much worse and I got diagnosed properly, lol.

    Hi, sadie ♥️
I also have tipe 1 diabetes. The day before I was diagnosed with tipe 1 diabetes I was not feeling the best. My symptoms were vomiting, dizziness and numbness. Throughout the day I just got worse, the more I would vomit the sleeper I would get. I almost went in to a coma. My father had to make the decision to phone the ambulance and took me to the hospital. They tested my sugar and it was 33.5. I'm just glad that you're also okay. ♥️ I really love stories like this, cause it's nice to know that you're not the only one going through these tipe of things. Thanks for being so inspirational. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
