I thought I was cool and had the little pod filters replacing the crankcase breather tubes on a 1980 cb750 until oil was leaking out of places where I know had good seals. I applied the concepts in this video and reinstalled the tubes and no more leaks. Thank you.
So, if this is what’s happening, and oil is spouting or seeping into gaskets and what not, do those need replaced, or should they be fine once the breathing is under control?
Thank you so much. Oil was seeping out of the valve cover on my 92 Nighthawk 750 so I changed the gasket but to no avail. Now that I relived the pressure no more leaks.
IT exactly happened to me. put smaller hose into the breather tube ( sporster 1200C ) to take the air and oil out but ended up having oil seeped out of all the gaskets around my cylinder. he is 100% correct.

I appreciate this video, it definitely helps installing an aftermarket air filter. Because I did not know what to do with the crank case hose. This helps.
Hey thanks for explaining that very clearly hi Charlotte was some kind of a drain for the battery box actually. Mine had some kind of filter on it it’s a 99 Honda CB 750 but I just clipped that part off and moved it where it can’t be seen so thanks again appreciate it.
Don’t know where Hi Charlotte came from I was trying to explain that I thought that it came from my battery box. So thank you again for explaining that hose for me
Although you seem like someone who really knows his sh*t, I can't resist not to put a filter on the crankcase breather. The Idea of having an open tube just seems so counterintuitive. I guess I'll just check it regularly to see if it clogs up. (Thanks for the video)

TJ… Question. Why a hose at all? Like, do you know the design reason why that can’t just be a weep-hole or an open port, and why it instead needs a hose run down to the ground? EDIT: Just watched the second Crank Case Breather video. That breather box doesn’t just output air. It outputs particulates and oil that you don’t want blowing all over your engine and your crotch while you’re riding. That sound right?
Thank YT for recommending this video. I put a mini mushroom filter in the breather hose and drove my motorcycle until I reached 3000km and noticed that the engine oil levels decreased on the sight glass on my crankcase then I proceeded to change my oil. After 600km of riding with the newly changed oil it seems odd that the oil levels decreased again and I noticed that there's an oil leak in my crankcase just below the block. Now this video helped. Thanks.
I was paranoid something would crawl up in the hose and plug it so I cut some fine wire mesh (like your velocity stack mesh) and fit it over the end of the hose.

I am having issues with my 2014 Valkyrie with this vent. There seems to be oil making its way up the tube onto my throttle body and getting into my idle air control sensor. My bike then runs at @ 1200rpm. I have cleaned the vent and I am about to put it back together, but this makes me think that I should reroute the piping to the bottom of the bike. I thought that Honda put it to the airbox for some other reason than to just collect the oil. Thanks for the video.
It's should be in a good running bike such a faint fog of oil that it would just get sucked into the intake air charge and burn off as the bike runs. If this is happening I'd check your oil levels. Oil level can increase crankcase pressure and it will dump excessive oil in to the intake.

Legislation should reflect the weakest link in the chain... people, us mortals who know about blow-by/breathers and so forth should NEVER be allowed to even test and re-pump out tyres... in fact, perhaps us "mortals" shouldn't even be allowed to ride our vehicles in case we can't check the oils, coolant and other voodoo elements of vehicular maintenance that the dumb people don't know about.... Only the qualified, licensed, certified, regulated are allowed to even touch vehicles.... that's what it's coming down to....
If you block off blow-by then you need to be neutered - so you cant breed dumbness!
PS... what a wonderful rant!
👍
Oil level can increase crankcase pressure and it will dump excessive oil in to the intake.
also from the oil filter my motorcycle is blowing the oil seal out
What would cause a large amount of coolant to steam and leak out of crank breather?
@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS that’s what I’m worried about. Shits fucked. I got it pulled, heads, gaskets, cylinders and jackets all look fine. Such a small amount of coolant in the oil you can’t even tell it’s there. Some bullshit.
Great explanation!!
can i just vent the hose to atmosphere without a filter or catchcan ? I dont care about EPA and oil spill.
I have a hose going to to ground in my car... but can it suck in dirt in the engine or dust please help
@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS ok thanks i was thinking about this and i cut the hose to see if something was in there and there was a little bit sand i dont know if it could suckt it in
I'm leaking from oil pan breather y can u help me
So is it ok if once in awhile rarely some oil comes out my crankcase breather hose?
Ty in a way that means its actually doing what it supposed to do and releasing pressure? So in a way it works kind of like a pressure realeave valve. Great video thanks again
Very informative
I have a 1300 vtx, I put a spike air intake system on it and it came with a small crankcase filter, the problem now is on long rides I'm getting a excessive amount of oil coming from that filter which I know is not normal. What would be the best way to address this problem? Why would oil be coming from there?
Vtx1300 rear cylinder mod ventilation of rear head @ aluminum port location which is a solid aluminum stud about 1 1/4" any tips on how to tap this stud for more ventilation
Anyone knows if the breather is one way or just a hole and air can go both ways?
Turn up recording volume!!
Funny thing, I understand it’s a vent to atmosphere. How come I removed mine and found a sponge and NOTHING but flat bare metal underneath lol I tossed it in trash bin
James Egnot sponges job is to filter the oil out from being sucked in the air intake
So I did have it set up right. Eff filters lol
TLDR, dont plug the bitch if you like your motor to not grenade itself.
super channel
Thank you so much!!!
oooh so thats why engiine go boom!
If I got paid five bucks for every time you cleared your throat in these videos I could buy out your whole warehouse LMAO. Love the videos TJ keep em coming 👍.
Ahh so that’s what’s dripping oil on my carb🤔🤔
