Just found your channel and it's a GOLDMINE for info relating to an upcoming project that I am looking at and hope to find the answer to my dilemma. I am trying to decide what platform I should run on metal in order to better suit my plans for a few VMs and services that I want to run, without too much hassle. 2019 Core, Ubuntu Srv, ESXi or even a (comfortable/familiar) full Win Srv installation. Linux Noob, ESXi 10+ year usage gap, diminished Win skills (since 03/08), but still familiar none the less since it's Win. While I don't plan to run a full SDN scenario, there are a couple of Net services I want to include locally. The rest is simply storage and management of. Any suggestions ?
As in a Hypervisor to run the VMs I would recommend ESXI.. form there you will need to figure out what your final goal is work backwards.. so if you want a svr 2019 failover data Custer you will need to have an AD, DNS, and 2 file servers.. if you want a web server a simple IIS or apache will work and will only require a VM.. So to keep it simple, esxi with a svr 2019 GUI and then core everything else if you are ok with WAC and Powershell. Then build on that.. as you can see with some of my older videos I just keep building and building
