  • Today coin is perhaps the rarest of all of the coronation issues with a minuscule mintage of 100 coins only. It was only available to a select group of customers and will be the single most sought after coin of the Coronation editions.

    Exceptional and rare. We do not experience many coronations in our lifetimes.

      I'm thinking I may have a chance at three... British that is.

      I know, I wish I'd been thinking of this when the lower mintages were released so I could snag some rarer editions. Still happy to snag some 1/10oz gold coronation, some 1oz silver coronation and Britannia coronation, and some plain old 50 pence uncirculated.
      As time goes on, people around the commonwealth will become more and more accustomed to seeing Charles' uncrowned head and the crowned editions will become more of a novelty, provided they don't use crowned editions for future mintages. I don't think they will considering this is the first time they've shown a crowned king on a coin in 300 years.

    The matte proof finish looks great, especially on gold coins like this!!!

  • @browpetj

    That is a very very interesting surface finish. Not the same as their usual shot blast for matte finnished stuff Ive seen from them at all. The tech they use is definitely catching up, or surpassing to competitors fast. Thansk for sharing! 😮

    Am a bit late with a comment on this, but am wondering if it has been noted that there seems to be a dent close to 12 o'clock on the reverse & a pit mark above the second 2 in 2023 on the obverse. A little hard to be sure from the video if it is the capsule though. I brought the 1 once gold version, which was ok & the 50p gold, but the gold £5 Crown was not & had to get a replacement, very lucky to do so as there were only 500 in that presentation. Also I managed to get the SOTD sovereign from The Royal Mint, but it had two pit marks on the reverse, no replacement there, just glad I got it at The Royal Mint price at least & not the crazy prices asked for elsewhere.

    I would have thought that you would have mentioned that the plume on St George and the Dragon is again removed, when it was reinstated in 1887.

    I'm more of a standard bullion (Sovereign/Britannia) 1/4oz or 1/2oz stacker. Beats having a pension, kind of guy. But I still find it fascinating watching you unbox some of the rarest coins on the planet. I don't go for that gift boxed nonsense myself.. Keep'em coming Numistacker I enjoy your uploads either way.

  • @Westminstrelsy

    The Royal Mint did a similar exclusive 2oz gold for the Platinum Jubilee last year - which unlike a Coronation has never happened before and will likely never happen again, so truly once in a lifetime - but that range hasn’t appreciated in value as much as people expected.
    Assuming this here coin will somehow be a gem is simply wishful thinking.
    The Royal Mint releases too many exclusives too frequently.

    • @Numistacker
      @Numistacker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure? I have never seen any info on this special release coin?

    • @Westminstrelsy
      @Westminstrelsy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Numistacker Ah I wasn’t an exclusive offered only to Mint Marque customers, but it was a similar low mintage, high value coin in 2oz gold and 2oz platinum, with the mantled shield on the reverse and the equestrian portrait on the obverse.

    • @sneakydoob7170
      @sneakydoob7170 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a gem. The price for the 2oz silver is now around 350-450£

    The massive uber premium cost of that coin is outrageous. Maybe OK if he passes in office after a short reign

      the crowned portrait looks awful too, they just photoshopped a clipart tudor crown on the current effigy.

    • @Numistacker
      @Numistacker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty much all coins sold out even those with high mintages I think. So the demand was there
