@Mkv78 does it matter to you if he's gay or not? As long as he doesn't flirt with you (which he obviously won't) you should be fine. Freddie Mercury was gay and that didn't mean he wasn't talented, same applies to Zhou Shen
His voice is so unique - not the usual countertenor, as they mostly have this "sharp egde" in their voices. His voice is smooth and as natural as a female soprano. Even his speaking voice is very high for an adult male. He once stated that puberty came and went without really affecting his voice at all.

I think there is a condition that causes this. Idk what it’s called and I’m not sure if he was ever diagnosed or if it’s just something that he has and never sought a name for. But yeah like hormonally something didn’t happen that normally would that would have changed his voice more, and it’s probably why he’s shorter as well. It’s hard for me to think of him as a countertenor because that really applies to someone who has a “normal male puberty” I know someone who had a delayed puberty like this but he got on some kind of medication or treatment and just had puberty, later, and was just always a little bit short.
It's probably people not being able to think outside the box that they try to force onto him the voice part of countertenor. He is a mezzo-soprano, pure and simply. His voice fits the timbre for this voice part and he hits the notes that are expected of a mezzo-soprano. So what if he is a male? Must he be female to be identified as a mezzo-soprano? In June 2016, Zhou Shen graduated from the Lviv National Conservatory of Music majoring in Bel Canto [3-4] in Ukraine. He is trained as CounterTenor for his voice.

By the way, Dimash got very famous now, one of the reasons it was because he also entered the same show in China a few years back and because of that, a lot of people got more attention about him. Dimash's voice is very powerful and Zhou Shen's voice compared with him I will say is more gentle even when he belted out his note. They both are great in their own very different ways. I knew ahout him because of the song he sang for The Untamed: Passing by the deserted city. I honestly prefer when he sings in Chinese, his pronunciation in English is just beautiful and perfect, but Chinese is such a beautiful language and we just get a lot of English songs.
In fact before I heard Zhoushen sang “ Memory” personally Elaine Paige was the best for “ Memory “ followed by Barbra Streisand. But now Zhoushen gave the most life to Memory. For “ Time To Say Goodbye” I used to recommend my customers Sarah Brightman and Bocellis’s. But once I heard Zhoushen version, he nailed to it best. As for “ The Lonely Goatherd” Julie Andrew from the Sound of Music was the best but when Zhoushen sang it, he made his own “ The Lonely Goatherd” very shocking best to the judges. His hallmark in his every song is he vocalises one or two short bars to beautify his songs. There's no question Zhou has a gifted voice. He can do certain songs, not all, better than a lot of other singers.

"Memory" is the second song by him I heard. At first, I felt that it was too strange: a man with very beautiful voice. I could imagine that it was a girl with elegance red dress singing. Then I have searched his perfomances and end up with being his real fan for 2 years.

He is special and so talented. Aren't we lucky to be exposed to him, Dimash, and have you seen Hua Chenyu, a creative genius in pop music. With this technology we are witness to wonderful singers we would never have heard.
I love Zhou Shen, his voice is beautiful. He sings with so much passion. I was hooked when I saw him sing Xue Yang’s song (The Untamed) in the series concert.
Quoting (imprecisely) from another review I saw a while ago, Zhoushen strikes the wonderful balance of possessing an extensive reservoir of vocal techniques but not overusing them. Therefore his singing communicates very rich emotions but at the same time remains so so pure.
It's almost angelic for a lack of better word.
I have been in LOVE with Zhoushen since discovering him on a reality TV show called "Singer 2020" this past April. What a wonderful surprise to help me get through a tough time (as with everyone right now).

He is one of my fav singer just behind Dimash :) and he also sings in 10+ languages! Very talented and hard working young man. You can check out his “dalabenba”(he sings like 5 characters), Monster(pop song), big fish(with Guo Qin, beautiful duet), he has so many great performances and he is also amazing live(he has perfect pitch )

By the way, Dimash got very famous now, one of the reasons it was because he also entered the same show in China a few years back and because of that, a lot of people got more attention about him. Dimash's voice is very powerful and Zhou Shen's voice compared with him I will say is more gentle even when he belted out his note. They both are great in their own very different ways. Zhou Shen also got one song which was specially written for him but 5 years ago but when he sang that song at that time, he can not deliver the right feelings and because of the Singer 2020' show this year, he asked again and finally got approved from the composer. So it was his first time and also this song was the first time introduced to the public. The way he sang it was a very different style from all his previous performances. One of the reactors on the internet from France, she got scared of it because she felt it was very dark but she still enjoys that song too. For me, I didn't feel that way at all. I think it was wonderful the way he interpretation of this song and try some other style. I love your comments on him. He has studied aboard outside of China in classical music when he was younger. He can speak at least 6 languages and his vocal range is very wide and his knowledge of music and the ability of his breath control is very good. His goal is to combines classical and pop music together to introduce to those who didn't know what classical music is. He is a very polite and humble guy. If I may, I like to recommend 2 songs he performed. The 1st one was a folk song from Russia and got translated to Chinese in the '50s and got famous. He sang in Russian at the beginning because that was the original language of that song and then he sings in Chinese. He has performed that song in a show called 'The Singer 2020' this year which was one of the great music competition show in China. I knew ahout him because of the song he sang for The Untamed: Passing by the deserted city. I honestly prefer when he sings in Chinese, his pronunciation in English is just beautiful and perfect, but Chinese is such a beautiful language and we just get a lot of English songs.
