I agree but now that Macan 4S is coming out, I will hold off to see about snagging a used Macan 4S in 2 years for a lower price point than a similar equipped Taycan. I estimate at least 20k cheaper for Macan based on MSRP new and then factoring equal depreciation on both of around 10% annually.
Always loving your productions Steve and hearing your super clean scripts for the show. As I've said this before, you're a gem in the youtube automotive space and I am super glad that you have kept your formula and quality as good as ever. Cheers! M

Hi Steve. i am a porsche fan already owned 7. Just need to share with you that I am extremely disappointed with my taycan gts sport 2022. 422km (max range when I bought it)at 100% full battery. after 12000 kms it's 360km at 100% full battery. you must drive below 80km/hr if you want to keep the range, otherwise it will drop over 40%. if you drive in the cold or in the mountain the decrease in range is about 30%, if you drive in the heat same story. the car has huge dimension (like the range rover) but it's not comfy in the back. usual issues with the pcm. the used market is full of taycans and you'll loose 40% of its value the exact moment you buy it. the best choice is not to buy it :)
The Cross Turismo/Sport Turismo is so sexy; has acres of swag Especially in Green or Ice Blue, makes the sedan look ho-hum😎 And it has a larger back seat, with more headroom and trunk space
Nice review. I think you should spend some more time on seat adjustment - my Taycan CT sits perfect + not a single instrument is blocked by the steering wheel :)
Unless I have the top of the steering wheel well in my field of view through window, I can’t see time and temperature on instrument cluster. It’s not really an issue though.
Steve, besides your Kona EV, would you consider this Porsche Taycan as the dream EV? If I had a spare $150k laying around (most of us don’t), I would greatly consider it. (As well as an Audi e-Tron).
@@stevehammes I just looked up the iX M. That's one ugly car. The entire thing looks like a low level Nissan. What in the world has BMW done with its design? They used to be such good looking cars.
steve, i share your opinion on the stripped interior. but i can absolutely live with that if its screwed and clipped together well. all i really care about is no rattles squeeks or creaks. did you happen to note any of that? I briefly perused the porsche forums and found multiple complaints about rattling interiors, even in the top spec models.
As an owner I have to say that interior rattling is an unfortunate reality, and they are not able to find a remedy. Door panels are the main issue. Depending on road surface and or music track is a nightmare (..)
You have to take into consideration without the noise from an ICE and exhaust there's noises you hear that were covered up otherwise. Hence the special tire engineering to help accommodate a quieter ride among other things.
@@protovack after reading the forums it appears that there are 2 main issues causing these rattles... Both are easy fixes quickly remedied by the dealership... 1 the headrest when in raised position.. tighten as needed. 2 loose wiring in front and or rear doors.. apply a sound dampening adhesive tape to problem areas. Now I also went through the Tesla forums... Appears they have multiple squeaky problem areas. Looking at several EV forums this seems to be a problem affecting most EVs. Odd you didn't mention that.

Porsche dealer service is expensive as heck once out of warranty. For that reason, I don’t see how the brand’s first EV (unproven battery, critical electronics) can be considered as a long-term own. I would imagine these cars will end up with relatively low resale value.
I drive Porsche since 20 years and yes maintenance is expensive. But is going out for fine dining, if you start to check numbers on the menu, you will not enjoy you dinner and people around you will stat to hate you … so long (..)
Cars are really getting ridiculously expensive. Perhaps it's time to boycott until prices are brought back within reason. These cars aren't that special but more importantly they usually are not worth the price. Idk when I've seen so many cars in the 130k and above range. Porsche can barely stay in business but they don't seem to know they price themselves out of the market.
The Taycan is a poor value, at least compared to the Rivian R1S I just put a deposit down on For about the same price as a "base" Taycan, the R1S does 0-60 in 3 seconds flat Has seating for 7, standard AWD, over 300 miles of range, and a power frunk and tailgate Plus with 830 HP, and up to 15" of ground clearance, it can do almost anything, on road, or off
So you going to actually sit up here and make a comment and compare a luxury sports sedan to a ugly start up suv really... dude really? 👀... To each his own is understandable but come on now these are two different buyers
Value and Porsche don’t go together. Porsche is a high end vehicle brand, the same way a Louis Vuitton doesn’t have the same value as a Walmart brand bag. They’re made and sold to a different kind of buyer
Dang, my neighbor’s SF Bay Area small home just sold for $1.2M, same model as mine. I could buy an estate in the the middle of nowhere for half of that and it has 8 bathrooms. Talk about value. 😊
If only it wasn't electric. I LOVE the looks of the Taycan, but have no use for a rolling toaster. If they would throw the Twin-Turbo V8 in one, I would buy it.
Taycan base model is more than adequate for most drivers, but I think the 4S is the sweet spot in the lineup A-1 review

Steve, appreciate you not pulling punches. And I agree about the interior. Why does the base 718's interior look better than this for half the price?
Probably because electric drivetrain and batteries cost much more in R&D and eat up costs.
I'd say a cheap interior is a way larger problem for a 200k costing Turbo S model than for an 85k base model.
"The stock stereo sounds embarrassingly bad." Appreciate the candor. Thanks but no thanks Porsche.

Love this , color is sweet 👍
I would love for you to have my Tesla Model 3 Performance so you can review it. 😀
Porsche made way too many versions of the Taycan, that actually turned me off on it.
ioniq 5 and ev6 also has the same charging architecture
Correct
Nice review, Steve. Do you do your own video editing?
I do my own everything 😉
Yassssssssss. Let's go STEVE!!!

The Taycan has a 8yr/100k battery warranty. Taycans haven't been around long enough, but older Tesla Model S's are holding value decently.
