Thank you for sharing this. Our official move is June. When the school year starts she will be a 9th grader. She doesn’t speak any Spanish and hope to get a tutor do you happen happen to know private school wise is it 80% Spanish? I did see you mentioned all needed is last report card so we wouldn’t need her school records? And lastly I have heard they do enrollment in February do you know if moving down in June would prevent her from Being able to enroll in private? 5:32
How exciting about your upcoming move! It depends on the school. Madison and Keystone International School offer 80% English instruction, while Alianz is 50/50. Many schools use the Pearson curriculum, which is great! They also host tours from both Mexican and American universities for high school students. You can bring the records just in case, but I’ve only needed the most recent report card. Enrollment typically starts in February, but you can enroll at any time. I’ve always enrolled in the summer or fall and haven’t had issues, though space can be limited for PreK/Kinder. Make sure your daughter joins the Merida Teen Club when she arrives-they have so many fun activities and great opportunities to meet others. I hope you all have an amazing stay!
I ran across your video while researching Merida as a potential location to beg my husband to relocate to 😊 What is the likelihood of obtaining gainful employment if you don't mind answering? I have worked as a Business Office Manager at nursing homes for the last 15 years, which doesn't transfer well to other countries. I do have a Bachelor's in Business Administration.
Hey Sonya! Most of the jobs here are reserved for locals. And to hire a foreigner, the company would have to prove why they should hire you over someone that is already here. If you go the Temp visa route, you have to prove that you are making income from the U.S. you aren’t allowed to work here on that visa. Is there anyway the work you are doing can translate to remote work in the U.S? With your expertise, I wonder if you could do some freelance work as a consultant to nursing homes. Just some food for thought!
@@BoldandAbroad That makes perfect sense, and it's quite admirable that Mexico saves its jobs for its citizens. I have tried the consulting route before and will continue to in addition to looking for other remote work. Thanks for responding!
😅is not that the jobs are reserved for locals, you got to have a work permit but it will not make sense from someone coming from a country that people makes more money to come to Mexico and get a job making 3 to 8 times less unless you coming to work for a big corporation straight to management or higher position, it does make sense for someone coming from a poorer contry to come and work, its probably best for you if find a job online
Oh the schools here are wonderful. You shouldn’t have any issues. Here are a few schools listed below: Rogers Hall Americano Moderno Keystone International Madison International Smartium International
Public school hours are from 7a- 12pm. Private school hours are from 7a-2p and my children get out at 1p on Fridays. Last Friday of every month there is no school for teachers to have a preparation day.
