How long does it last before having to be refilled. How often do you need to pull up the wicks. They are so low. i would think it would be hard to pull them up. I am assuming 100% cotton for the wicks?
Thank you for watching the video and leaving your comment! The wicks are usually made of non-flammable threads (like candle wicks), which can be reused multiple times without needing replacement or frequent adjustments. This video is specifically designed for camping and is particularly useful for those who need an alcohol stove outdoors. With a refill of alcohol, it can work for hours and performs excellently. Feel free to test it out and share your thoughts in the comments!
@@diyinventor89 Thank you for your answers! Wow, I never knew they wicks the size of ropes! I can ask a local tune-up shop for a used oil filter, but where do I find a wick that size? Hobby shops seem to think I am nuts. Thanks for the how-to... Simple and easy to do. PS: thanks for the reference to Mr. Smith. He does have some great stuff.
@ I’m so glad you found the tutorial helpful! For wicks that size, tool shops or industrial supply stores might be a good place to check. Alternatively, you could repurpose natural fiber ropes that burn well. If you still can’t find one, let me know, and I’ll try to help with another idea. Glad the reference to Mr. Smith was useful-He is truly amazing.
