Wow! Thanks for doing this. I just installed a lip on the Model Y and I can't get the dumb screws to grab onto the bottom plastic(skid plate or w/e). This helps now I can take that off and secure the front lip since it keeps sagging in the middle.
Thank you for one of the best videos on how to remove the front bumper. The video quality was good with great lighting. You have a great way of describing the process. Thanks.
My model Y got delivered Jan 28 and my wife drove it to work today, Feb 2, she hit a parked car while she was parking. What a day!!!! This clip makes me comfortable! Appreciate your amazing video.
You do an amazing job of simplifying the removal process and your camera person does a great job showing the details. Thanks for your help understanding how Tesla repairs can be made.
Wow, I thought it would be a lot easier, with fewer bolts and clips and steps to the process. Good job, and thank you for explaining the process so well.
The reason things are always changing is because Tesla makes improvements on the fly. Why have 4 bolts when 3 will do? Windshield fluid is the only thing you need to fill. If clips have been eliminated, it's also a sign of simplification. The profit margins are far higher than most other vehicles.
Great video. I am about to replace my own front bumper that got scratched and cracked. Did you have to go into service mode or disconnect the 12 volt battery? If you unplug the sensors, do you have to rescan through the service mode screen? thanks
Rhino ramps!! They work great but I used some jack stands for my last wrap and they’re much more versatile and allow you to life low profiles cars. I’d get two of those instead probably
Do you think removing the passenger side front quarter panel is difficult? I caught some black ice entering a driveway and hit a tree….cracked the bumper and quarter panel where it meets the bumper. Everything else is fine it was very low speed. Thinking of replacing it myself
Front fender? I’m not sure tbh. Should just be bolts. My logic is if a man built it a man can take it apart. I’d start one bolt at a time and take pictures of alignment beforehand
@@ourspacesinc you have to separate the clips and put the bottom part in first until It grabs, then push the pin in. So you pulled off the fender and put it back on without issue? Nice
@@GdayFraz yup. The fender was super easy. There is one bolt that’s tricky inside where the door Hinges are but other than that it was a breeze. You bumper video helped big time. I separated the clips but when I push the first piece in the white bumper flap inside moves up and the clip won’t go in. 🤷♂️
Hi Jd, I love watching your videos, you make them so easy to understand. I am wondering why my Tesla-certified Bodyshop quoted 3 hours to remove the front bumper cover, yet you did it in 16 minutes video? they also need to remove all sensors as well and put them back into a new bumper cover. Do you think the 3 hours they quoted is fair?
hi , right fog light is pushed in in my tesla y . do i need to change the whole bumper to fix the fog light or i can just change the fog light and use the same bumper. Any idea how much it cost to fix it in repair shop. would be grateful if you can tell me. Thank you in advance
@@karmakarma4645Tesla body shops are going to charge you way more, and there’s only a select few auto body shops that are certified to work on teslas. Non-certified Tesla mechanics won’t touch teslas because of Tesla finds out they can be taken to court.
Hi I am looking for the clip that is holding the bumper to the main body on the top side. What is it called? It is the one that you removed at the end. Can you please share details of that....looks like one of them has broken while removing and need to be replaced
After wrapping vehicles of all types for over 20 years, I don’t understand the obsession with disassembling cars just to wrap it. I can wrap a yellow vehicle in a matte black(which is worst case) without any yellow showing with just removing a few trim pieces. What a wasted of time.

@@GdayFraz Think I would like professional help to do this for me. What city are you located in?

Thanks for the vid! Is it possible to remove lower plastic cover (valance) without removing the front bumper?
Which cover are you referring to?
@@GdayFraz I'm assuming the under carriage portion. Which i'm curious about aswell.
You can pry it off, but you’ll have a bitch of a time getting it back on.
Well captured and in depth details 👍🤝

Awesome video, thanks for the detail, did you or will you release a video about foglight removal?

Wondering where the bumper wrap video is,thanks
Very nice work!
What month of 2021 was this car manufactured? Does it still have the radar in the front bumper?

Hey there, no need to disconnect 12v. Once you plug everything back in the sensors will recalibrate
I’m getting ready to change the entire lower valance you unclipped at 11:28. How many more clips are there towards the back of that piece?
I don’t know tbh, haven’t removed the whole skid plate. I think there’s like 2-4 bolts and as many clips to full remove
Thank you for this video.
What ramps are you using? I'm looking to acquire some myself but wasn't which one would be strong enough.

Fender was super easy to remove. 5 x 10mm bolts. The hardest part in this whole thing was the plastic clips under the bumper not going back in.

What are the Model Y bumpers made of? I've had a number of paint chips on it, and I've been told it's a plastic vinyl

Are Model Y and Model 3 bumpers the exact same? I can source a Model 3 bumper but I have a Model Y.
They’re different
Damn, thanks. I can source 3 front ends for a quarter of the price of a Y. Oh well...@@GdayFraz

Agree. Kinda sketch. I don’t remove it like this anymore. I use vinyl tuck tools to pop the tabs.
