You are not talking to yourself. I'm just getting started with candles and feel a bit overwhelmed. You are bringing a bit of peace to the wick decision. Thank you.
Thank you for the pointers! This seems like a trial and error process but you helped us beginners avoid a lot of mistakes. Very informative videos on this channel! ❤
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Your videos are so informative. Thanks for sharing what you have learned through trial and error; saved me from making the mistakes. Now, as a beginner I feel like I'm ahead of the and readyto go. I followed your video and made candles yesterday. They turned out GREAT!
Lovely Video clip! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you researched - Honulian Wiffy Remover (search on google)? It is a good one of a kind product for making money as a candle maker minus the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my work colleague after a lifetime of fighting got cool results with it.
This was very informative and useful. I am very interested in making my own candles and purchased a kit from pro candle supply but feel they set me up for failure in a way. They supplied the jars, wax, FO and wicks. They gave me instructions and after two fails I had to start re-evaluating the steps and now feel the wick they sent with this kit is the wrong type for the supplied equipment. I was really discouraged by this and am finding it hard to self motivate. This is not a cheap process and I want to keep trying. Watching series like this and others, that really help with educating and edifying me and my technique and really helps me stay optimistic. All that to say, thank you. You have a new subscriber in me. 😁 the video was great.
Thank you. Yes, the wicks are definitely the most challenging part of candle making. It's highly challenging and tests patience big time. It can be very discouraging. Especially for beginners. I wish it was much more direct when picking wicks, but it's just not. It is what it is.
Happy Sunday ☺️ I am a beginner like some of the others here and I truly am struggling with the Rock size for my 8 ounce candle containers. I was desperately trying to find the proper sized wicks. It seems you have answered my question 🤗🥰 thank you do much. Have a peaceful and blessed day 💕🙏🏾🤗
Hello I enjoyed this I am. Beginner I was using two wicks and the flame was very big. I am using one wick now and trying to make it better thanks for this video
I am so glad I found your channel. I’m almost 65 and no one ever said to burn the candle u til you have a nice burn pool. Or however you out it. I bought candle making stuff I believe off Amazon through reviews. It was ok. But now that I am learning more I see I screwed up. I was going for all natural so I bought essential oils, not fragrance oils. The wax I bought is 444. I have t seen many videos on it and have no idea what the difference is. It does melt to a beautiful white which impresses me. The wicks I have are 6” EricX Light. I’m having a hard time finding info on those as well. I just made candles with them in the small mason jars. They are about 2-1/2” wide, 4” tall. They look pretty but they don’t melt to the edge. So I’m wondering, can you melt and repour these once you add fragrance? I did use fragrance oil on these. I was thinking of adding two wicks. Or maybe just keep for myself and let them burn. The flame I think is beautiful. So much to learn. I’m sure I will be binge watching your channel all day tomorrow. I’m still making Christmas gifts.
Thank you so much your videos have helped me understand lots I have just started candle making and already I have list the will to live ( as they say 😅) luckily I am not doing it to sell and doing it for a hobby the 1st lot never put enough oils in 2nd lot wicks are just all wrong and I put numerous wicks in so obvious I have wrong wicks in.
Starting my candle business and buying everything today... Thank you for the tips, definitely took down notes on your video. Helps a lot, thank you again! :)
This was great information and u wasn't talking to much u broke it down a lot of people don't so thank you and I have a question how many wicks u use in a 8oz jar
Your video really helped me. I am new to candle making and I am also doing the same mistake not choosing the right size of wick. Thanks for this, it was really helpful.
Hi first time on your channel I enjoyed your videos I’m new to candle making and been testing since march 2022 you been a big help explaining wicks and sizes everything that you explain I did not know about these wicks but thanks to your videos you are a great help I will subscribe to your channel
I think this is the most informative channel I have visited... I alsonthink that the TH-camr can be my friend too🤣🤣 we have the same interest🥰 I hope I can make it too, just like you did it🥰
As a beginner found you had some fantastic advice - Thankyou so Much for taking the time to explain everything--- & No I didnt think the video was too long :)
Found out I think I need to change my wicks after finally finding what I thought was the "right" wick for me... finding out my hot throw is weak. I started with the ECO series also and I think I'm switching to the CD series too.
Thanks for the candlescience link. I'm trying to make beeswax T lights and have been completely unsuccessful, I've been using the wicks that come with the T lights and simply adding melted beeswax, any hints that folks can offer me are welcome
HI Jane can you give some advise on wicks for pillar candles with a width of 3 to 5 inches so that they dont melt and over spill or cause tunneling....
What wick and size would you recommend for the body mould? Everyone’s making them but no one mentions wick size, I’m presuming to big a wick will burn them down to quick.
This was a great video thank you but a couple of quick questions if not to much trouble. I am very new to candle making and I was wondering a couple of things. 1) what is the best size wick to use with 8oz bell mason jars. 2) I am in MN and if you have either tried or is selling on ETSY or something similar or how did you start out selling your candles before you started your company?
hello!! do whipped candle need larger wick. example if Im using eco 10 for my normal container should I use the same wick with whipped candle in the same container or bigger wick thank you
I'm wondering. During the test process if I'm making 15oz candles, I make 15oz candles. Nothing smaller even when testing wicks? Sorry, not worded very well. Also, with curing, using a soy/coconut wax, I still need to wait 2 weeks before I burn test? Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi, thanks for the video, it's my first time watching one of your videos, I'm new to candle making and going through the process of picking wicks. I'm using a para-soy wax. What kind of wax are you using with the CD wicks? Look forward to hearing from you. From Frances
@Clayton Candle Co.. Hi Jane, amazing video! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 U are totally correct when we start making candles for the first time we think that we can just melt the wax stick any wick and pour the wax without measuring the heat or figuring out if the wick is good.or not good. Also we are anxious and we want the candle to cool fast so as soon as the candle is room temperature we want to burn it with out curing... Because we didn’t know all this. Then we have tunneling, mushrooming, black smoke ... everything like u explained. I don’t do thin metal container but my son give me some, they are 6 oz. so what wicks u recommend for them? Also for a 10/11 oz. jar? Which one would u use?
Thanks for the video. If the CS guide recommends an ECO 16 and I choose to double WIC, would I double wick with 2 eco 16s OR do I split that up to 2 eco 8s?
I hope this is not a stupid question, but my question is if you put 3 or 4 sucker sticks together, the whole entire sucker sticks is dipped in dried candle wax should that work can that work just like wick. I put them 3 sucker sticks in candle wax without the entire sucker sticks being covered in wax and the sucker sticks stayed lit ?
Hi! I’m making candles in seven inch clamshells with 464 soy wax, but the wick holders are visible and that’s ugly! Candle Science didn’t have the answer, (emailed them.) Any idea ? Thx!
What website would you recommend for a beginner to start selling candles at? I find Etsy & Shopify being too expensive with their fees and I would like to know your opinion on this subject. I am thinking to start with The Big Cartel and through social media for my launch! Thank you! Keep it up!!
I actually started a wix website but for beginners, it seems that a lot of candle makers push starting on etsy. I would rather use wix or shopify and use social media ads to push towards my own website. The fees of etsy can really really add up and once a company starts to see how much they are spending on etsy fees, they normally want to push consumers over to their own website which is hard to do. I've never heard of the big cartel. i will have to look into it! Thank you so much for watching! Ill be doing a video on this soon!
Hello I'm using HTP wicks , with soy wax and 8%FO. I make succulent candles in a 4 inch diameter jar. The problem is that my wicks are always dancing. What should I do? Is it normal ?
You are not talking to yourself. I'm just getting started with candles and feel a bit overwhelmed. You are bringing a bit of peace to the wick decision. Thank you.
Thank you for the pointers! This seems like a trial and error process but you helped us beginners avoid a lot of mistakes. Very informative videos on this channel! ❤
3 years later - you're still not talking to yourself! I appreciate the details!
I wish candles came in kits with the exact wax and wicks and containers! Thank you for your informative video!

Thank you!!! Trial and error are crazy but enlightening --finding videos like yours makes decision-making so much easier!!! Enjoyed your series!
Thank you for this series. My daughters and I are just starting in a candle venture and this series breaks everything down so well. Thank you, again.

Thank You for the clear explanation of the different wick types, you have saved me a whole lotta time.

Thank you for that. I am experimenting and noticed my burn pool was very small. Thanks for that video. :)

Which wax you use fr jar candle and pillar candle ?
You are adorable and very informative thank you so much. Great video

This was a great video thank you but a couple of quick questions if not to much trouble.

Hi, thanks for the video, it's my first time watching one of your videos, I'm new to candle making and going through the process of picking wicks. I'm using a para-soy wax. What kind of wax are you using with the CD wicks? Look forward to hearing from you.
From Frances
Could you give me your opinion on what kind of wick I should use for a 10 oz glass jar - soy wax
Really need to know what’s good for gel wax
great energy
@Clayton Candle Co.. I purchased candles that had a wick that while burning bend down an extinguished itself
Why didn’t you mention the diameter of the vessels? Just that they are 8 or 4 oz containers doesn’t really help us
How long should you let a candle burn each time you light it before putting it out?
Where/how what do you use to make the labels for the jars?
Did you know the eco 2 wicks is for what size of container?? Can work in 1oz tins..
Thank you! Very helpful
Thanks for the video. If the CS guide recommends an ECO 16 and I choose to double WIC, would I double wick with 2 eco 16s OR do I split that up to 2 eco 8s?
Great video
Please do a budgeting video for starting the candle business. I would highly appreciate this.
I put it on my list! Thank you for the suggestion!
Love the video thanks for information
What CD would you recommend for a 7 oz jar that is 2.5 inches in diameter please?
I hope this is not a stupid question, but my question is if you put 3 or 4 sucker sticks together, the whole entire sucker sticks is dipped in dried candle wax should that work can that work just like wick. Great tips, thank you :)
Thank you so much for this video! If you wanted to double wick a 16 oz tin what CD wick size would you recommend?
Do you use 2 wicks for 8oz tins? I use a cd18 but i feel it burns to hot and was thinking of double wicks maybe 2 cd 10 or cd 12.
I use 1 wick for the 8oz and I use the cd 18. If you are going to do 2 I would suggest two cd8. For my 3 wick candles I use three cd6
I too think the CD 18 burns too hot I will have to try a CD 12 and see.
were can I buy wicks for hand dipping taller and thinker than birthday candles?
8oz tins you used cd 18 and how many wicks 2 or 1 only.. thanks
Thank you for the information!! Helpful
Thank you for watching!!
Hey! I’m using C3 wax & I have been going crazy looking for the right wick! The diameter is 3.25 & I’m using an 8oz tin- please advise!
Hello I'm using HTP wicks , with soy wax and 8%FO. I make succulent candles in a 4 inch diameter jar. The problem is that my wicks are always dancing. What should I do? Is it normal ?
What would you recommend for beeswax ? Unless I missed it in your video if so I apologize!
When you have a large container and u use 2 or 3 wicks do your go down a size of the wick when you use more than 1?
