  • In this video, we're putting the Skoda Kushaq up against the Volkswagen Taigun. These two mid-size SUVs share the same platform and engines, but there's a fair bit that is different between them. For starters, the styling is radically different and so is the layout of the dash. Meanwhile, equipment levels are nearly on par and so are prices. Which of these two SUVs should you be looking at? Watch the full video to find out!

My question is why don’t you (auto journaling channels) mention the issues present in these new cars? The Kushaq has an EPC issue resulting in breakdowns on road, which might probably lead to a recall with users facing it even after a replaced pump.

The GT Manual 148bhp is very appealing, but the lack of features on it is very shocking. Basically, they are telling us, if you want Manual 148bhp, go for Skoda, and pick VW for Automatic. The sales still remain in the group. Would have loved to have a fully loaded GT Manual in Taigun, they can remove the useless features like the sunroof and virtual cockpit. But 148bhp requires 6 airbags. VG have been silly in their offering of variants

  • @kaustubhprakash926
    @kaustubhprakash926 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

The Topline AT of Taigun has 6 airbags which is a big + over Škoda Style AT. So with all features common, Taigun becomes an obvious choice. Competition is actually b/w Taigun Highline and Škoda Ambition.

I've had a test ride of both taigun topline 1.0 n kushaq 1.5 style MT. Outside looks of kushaq are killer no doubt. But as soon as u enter the cabin, the interior feels cheap and nowhere close to being called PREMIUM. Taigun interior looks n feels premium, the leather seats are wayy nicer than those of kushaq. The driving dynamics are surprisingly different. The taigun felt much tighter and composed and had much better handling. Kushaq dint feel like a skoda to be honest. Sorry to say that but that's the bitter truth. If only taigun offered a topline 1.0 comparable variant in GT+ MANUAL.... now I've to choose where to compromise - features or engine or spend extra on DSG when I'm a fan of manual gearbox 🙄

Very well done comparison and as you rightly pointed with prices being so close, the swing to one or another is a matter of personal choice. For me VW pulls my heart strings more than Skoda and another factor is the non-ventilated seats in my opinion are better than ventilated ones on Skoda as their firmness is just right. Ventilated seats in general are little harder, to maintain the integrity of those air channels in longer run. So in my opinion that too should be a factor while deciding which way one wants to go.

*Below are some of the features missing in the GT MT as against the GT DSG trim:*
    - Side and curtain airbags
    - Cruise Control
    - Halogen headlights with LED DRLs, instead of LED projector headlamps
    - Smaller, 16-inch, plain-silver alloy wheels with 205/60 R16 tyres
    - Virtual cockpit
    - Ventilated seats (present in the 1.0 top-end. - Inexplicably missing in the GT DSG too!)
    - Auto-dimming IRVM
    - Auto headlamps
    - Sunroof
    - Black contrast roof
    - Matte plastic for B and C-pillars instead of better-looking gloss plastic
    - Keyless entry, chrome window-line, chrome-lined door handles. Heck, even the driver side door doesn't get a slot for the key, nor a keyless entry request sensor!

If it were the previous gen models I'm talking about, I'd go for Octavia. But it's not the same anymore. Compass has improved significantly while Octavia facelift isn't that exciting enough. Both are quite higher in price than the previous gen too.

Both of them are of different classes. Sedans and SUVs aren't easy to compare. It all depends on your personal requirements. If you want to go more off roads, more mountains, go for compass, though I'd suggest you to wait for some time and go for hyundai tuscon(though it's still better than compass). If you're mainly a city and highway driver with less ofroading, go for Octavia anyday. That car is great

If Skoda Kushaq wants to increase its market share.. it should conduct and publish NCAP rating.. and am sure it should be better than Creta and Kia and should market this USP better

Probably the basis for the Škoda Kushaq is the Kamiq, a similar model from Škoda here in Europe, which received 5 stars in EURO NCAP in 2019, so I believe that it would get the same number anywhere. By the way, Octavia, Enyaq, Scala and other Škoda models got always 5 stars). Every model is tested here, but I really don't know how it is in other markets ...

    1. Have VW & Skoda used galvanized steel as with their other cars?
    2. The steel used is 'made in India' not German made. Expected to be built as proper as POLO.
Was evaluating TAIGUN, but above factors means NO.

Why have all these manufacturers decided to not even offer their highly accomplished AWD systems even as options on their soft roaders?
And all these soft roaders are pretty expensive too, these days. Prices have truly gone mad. And at these prices rear Drum Brakes? Man! Even my old CKD Assembled in India, Skoda Yeti Elegance 4x4 in 2011 had all the comforts like leather seats and all, and also had rear disc brakes and 6 Airbags and ESP and ABS and Hill Hold and Electronic Diff Lock and TCS and every possible safety aid, apart from the 16 inch alloys and all this came at the princely sum of 19.5 lacs on road! So it clearly looks that all manufacturers are cutting down on equipment as the years pass and increasing the prices nicely at the same time. This, to me, reeks of exploitation…

Good try Volkswagen. The Skoda is much prettier and I think I'd go for it. The 17' Alloys help as well as the smarter front and side profiles.
A buyer can chrome-dechrome their vehicle as per their requirements. The same can be said about the tyres, wheels and seat covers.
The Taigun seems a bit lull when we compare it to the Kushaq.
    Great seats. Poor roofliner. Kushaq.
    Overall Kushaq.

I saw the the Red Kushaq in person when I was out a few days back . It doesn't look so imposing as a Midsize crossover, seems more like a Puffed up hatchback but that's just my opinion, no offence though. I am liking the Taigun more you know, it looks timeless like a VW is 🔥❤
It can also look great in a sedan/Hatchback platform 😀 👍.
Anyway all this hoo-ha VW Skoda group made about the 2.0 campaign, but have they really cut down on their service costs and spares cost? I want you to cover that . That's what really matters in the end. Right?
Make a ownership reviews of the Kushaq and Taigun in your fleet &compare it with older VW Skoda cars to check whether the maintenance cost has reduced or not
Or maybe compare it with Creta ,Seltos,Harrier etc as they are it's rivals. We want to see that 🙌.
