    Little known fact. Although impressive display of precision, these guys are not real Marines. They were actually cadets at Texas A&M which has the best collegiate drill team in the nation. The Marine drill team uses M1 Garand. These cadets use 1903 Springfield. If you look closely at the bayonet, there is the Texas AM logo.

      @@donarthiazi2443 The Fish Drill team is freshman only. The ones in the movie hadn't graduated; they were sophomores through seniors, some of whom were training that year's team while also getting ready for the filming of the movie.

    One of the most (if not THE most) brilliant opening scenes of a movie, that I have ever seen. I have so much respect for the American Marines. It's great to know that they always have our backs.

    I met a couple of those very Marines, at Armed Forces Day in CFB Calgary 1996. That rifle drill is more impressive in person!

      Funny enough, those are college freshmen. The Marines declined to do the opening, so they hired the Fish Drill Team from Texas A&M.

    Man, you got to have a heart of steel to do what colonel tells you regardless if it's wrong or not. Poor guy just didn't have the physique nor the stamina to keep up with his fellow soldiers and you're gonna kill him for it? I hope guys like him don't actually get bullied/killed in real life marine/army/navy/etc. If you're in the service, that's proper respect enough There are all kinds of military jobs they can do if not for field combat.

    I said no to military for number of reasons. One was, my neighbor's friend is always away doing his military thing. He got divorced. Most tragically family court devorced his life. Details asaid, house and money and child custody problems. Family court didn't care much about his dedication to serve country. He is dead now.
    I know the pain when child visitations are sabotaged.

    In my group of buddies, 6 signed up as marines and went on their way as soldiers. Next thing after the afghan iraq war, they died. Not one came back. One of them didn't even have his body brought back due to it being mangled and beheaded by a mob.

    I never understood why the whole movie was about disciplining a marine and following orders to do so since closing all his airways is a clear murder attempt. He was left to die from asphyxiation so what kind of disciplinary procedure was that? Even if they followed orders to kill this person these soldiers should still face imprisonment for manslaughter cause their clear intention was to kill the marine!
