a coat of Sharpie ink or machinist's blue layout fluid lacquer makes marking lines easy, and I think I'll make a second set of jaws with leather glued to the copper.
I would do the two liners at once because when you clamp down one liner, you might cause markings with the opposite jaw which in turn might transfer to any softer material clamped in the vice even though copper is a very oft material by itself. When doing two liners at once, this cannot happen. Splitting the two pieces of sheet metal open to fold them over is easy enough: One can use a burnisher just as for splitting open a piece of metal that has been fold formed. Otherwise thumbs-up - Any vice should have a pair of liners to protect softer materials from being marked. This not only applies to the screw holes or the jaw grip, but also to any edge on the jaws that might leave an imprint in a piece of jewelry if not covered with some soft material.

Thanks for showing how to line a vise jaws. I've been needing to do this. Great timing.
There are a lot of options, but I love my copper liners. every now and then I will also use some leather for a little extra padding.
