After watching the whole thing I agree with drake exiting the spotlight because he cannot get rid of those allegations. I don’t agree with how Nicki acts online at all but from the beginning they’ve been trying to get rid of her, so it makes sense she doesn’t want to stop. They didn’t play her shit on the radio for years/blackballed her vs Drake going overseas to sleep with children.
You forget about the fact that her husband a S.O., and she bailed out his brother for I think something similar if I remember correctly. If there's anything to hate on her about it's at least that because these are facts no one on earth can deny.

One of the first comments I read back in the early TH-cam days was abt Drake being an actor playing an American Rapper. I remember that vividly. It’s so wild that years later, that’s the convo we are all having.
It’s been so obvious from the beginning. The fact that people let a cornball from a Canadian teen drama become “the face of hiphop” for almost 2 decades is the nastiest kind of work.

Everybody who grew up watching Degrassi has been thinking that from the very beginning. It was cool when he was doing the rap singing and wasn't pretending to be some hard ass gangster who was in the streets. He could never convince me he was hood or that he was an actually decent rapper.
His final storyline in the show was him going off to be a rapper. To me, that says, "I'm going off to my new role on a different stage."

One line that Drake said in Family Matters somewhat bothered me: "Always Rapping like you bout to get the slaves freed". A very out of touch line, especially since a large chunk of Hip-Hop (pretty much the standard) is about personal expression and social issues, just go to The Roots, NWA, A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, the list goes on (I got a lot of dumb replies from people saying “there’s context to the line”… THE LINE IS STILL DUMB. The rest doesn’t help it. I’m tired of Aubrey’s Angels coming to his side and no where did I specify I hated Drake’s music, so don’t try that argument. But I guess it’s so easy to be someone’s Angel who has a history of ruining potentials with his OVO sweatshop and talking to minors as a grown man).
That line and "whipped and chained you like American Slaves" from Slime You Out are some of the worst lines he's ever said. Like how did nobody tell him maybe he should rethink those lines? 🤯

Hard agree, that was weird. Specially since Drake is, despite what Rick Ross calls him, a black man from a nation that was colonized by white Europeans. It changed from country to country, but it isn't insane to say that, racially, Drake has experienced similar trauma than every other black person in the continent, from Alaska to Patagonia.

We started listening to Nicki when we were 9. We’re in our early 20s now. 😀 she’s making music for us. Anyone not happy can just go listen to someone else.

She's now has 2nd highest grossing hip hop tour of all time behind Drake. She's performing about 40 songs and about 7/8 of those are pop records. Her set is centered around hip hop songs. Nearly 20K people know them in those arena,s day in day out. You should maybe attend one of her shows to see and know what I'm talking about. See the REAL problem you have here is that non of these new generation artist has super stardom material every single one of them has been reaching the peak of their career and now they’re not doing numbers like that anymore. The thing about Nicki is she's actually very talented and as far as rapping is the female equivalent we have to Kendrick where they can both do voice changes, cadence changes and are nice to listen to because the way they rap is never boring. Too bad that due to likely some very internalized misogyny and her personality and disposition, Nicki has become overly sensitive, protective, territorial and unhinged especially when it comes to other female rappers. And it's really the industry's fault, in the time she came up, where there did seem to be only one spot open for a female rapper at a time, and that to come up, you have to replace the one in that spot. Overstaying their welcome is the best way to really put it. What we're seeing with Nicki is just a bigger, more accelerated version of what's happening with Drake imo. I've thought for the longest time that Drake is just as thin-skinned and petty as Nicki, he's just been better at hiding it/playing it off or had more people covering for him than Nicki had covering for her. Their heydays have passed and they're not evolving as people OR as artists. Drake hung on longer because of how he uses other artists (most unknowns) and hops on whatever wave or trend keeps young people interested.
