Maybe my best memory is you is on the ice lake beds ice skating powered by a chainsaw cutting into the ice and your daring ice baths is sub freezing waters. I still can’t believe he’s dead. I think about him far more often then I should. More than any celebrity passing, even more than some of my family members who’ve passed. Apetor just had a charm that made a huge impression on me. Watching a man as old as my dad goof around like I would was such a breath of fresh air. Sorry I‘m that guy but diving in ice cold water while being drunk is really the pinnacle of stupidity and he should get the Darwin award for such a stupid death. Not being disrespectful here, just speaking facts. By drinking alcohol you lose heat more quickly, and he was also obese and out of shape which you should not be while swimming in ice water. Only healthy people should submerge themselves in -1 Celsius water.

Cause of Death: On 26 November 2021, Eckhoff fell through the ice at Jakobs dam, a lake west of Kongsberg, while recording a video for his TH-cam channel.
Bad news for all apetor fans. Friday the 26th Tor Eckhoff (apetor) broke through the ice outside of Kongsberg, he was found by rescue divers who performed life-saving treatment on him and he was flown to Ullevål Hospital where he died saturday the 27th. Rest in peace tor, hopefully you'll enjoy the same things in the afterlife wherever that might be.

I still think about this man from time to time. He died doing what he loved, skating on the ice and filming a youtube video. He had a passion for making these videos that has always stuck with me. He made them just to make them. I wonder what he was like in real life outside the videos
I was at his meetup with fans in Warsaw, Poland. After an hour or so, when a considerable portion of the crowd broke off and went about their business, a smaller group of us went ahead with an idea to take Apetor to a nearby restaurant, and spend some extra time with him there. It was easily one of the best days in my life (yes, each shot of vodka was followed by us mimicking his trademark 'aaghhh'). You'd be surprised how clever and deep insights that man had, and how intelligent and philosophical his outlook on life was. I hoped I would have at least another occasion in my life to meet with him and have a chat again, but alas - now we're all here to honour his tragically lost life. Here's a fun fact: Apetor had an interest in anthropology. His name was actually a combination of the word 'ape' (reflecting our biological origin), and his real name 'Tor'. Just found this Channel today, i've watched a lot of Tors vids, he was funny and charming and brought Light to this Dark World. He was like a 'big kid' and did things similar to what kids do when we was younger I'm 72, but young at heart, i've watched him dive into ice-cold water, i've sat here in the UK with the Central Heating on and i still feel the cold. not joking, cannot believe you're gone. rest easy friend. for those who don't know, 5 days after this was posted, apparently he was skating on a frozen lake when it cracked and he fell under into the freezing cold water. He lost control and drowned. He was rushed to hospital by air ambulance but they couldn't bring him back. Just shows how easy life can be taken from you. Please take care of yourself people and you're loved ones.

I only just learned today (31st January, 2024) of the passing of this legend of a personality. I unfortunately lost my original account that was subscribed to him, and life just got so busy that I hadn’t used yt in a few years…
His videos were kind of formative for me back in the day. He exemplified the importance of the ability to be silly as an adult, as well as the innate and primal satisfaction from simply being outdoors and having fun.
I truly hope that we get to meet beyond the rainbow bridge someday. Skål!
