This is a serious crime. This has been swept under the carpet by the police department and the attorney general or whoever the prosecutor is. The whole thing is reckless, endangerment, and gross use of excessive force. He will never be the same, and a multi million dollar lawsuit is indicated. Another reason why professional police officers should carry their own professional liability insurance. And when they have these claims against them, they will be blacklisted and they will never be able to work again instead of cities and towns, using taxpayer money to bail them out all the time. This case reminds me of Deputy Barney Fife and why the Sheriff of Mayberry let him have just one bullet, that he was required to keep in his shirt pocket.
I worked back in the late 70's as an emergency medical technician with Vietnam vets who never did crap like this. As a former range safety officer what I find frightening is how the PD stated that the backup officer shooting into the patrol car without knowing exactly where the target was and if there was actually any life threatening danger was justified. This kind of crap is getting out of hand. It appear as though they are trying to create an environment where no matter what they do no matter how much it endangers the public it is okay.
If you have a porch with a metal roof the damn things can be pretty loud. But I can confirm they do not sound like gunshots, suppressed or otherwise. I rented a townhouse years ago. My nextdoor neighbor was a lunatic. He was one of those guys who's offended by a cat walking across what he said was his yard. It wasnt, it was a common area behind all the buildings. He also swore that the people who lived across this common area were throwing things at his wife. In reality the oak trees were throwing acorns at both of then because they were assholes.
I used to live in a cottage with a walnut tree over it and a metal storage shed. Squirrels would eat the nuts and drop the shells on the metal shed. Definitely sounded like I was under aerial bombardment 😅
Dr. Grande one thing to also note is that a suppressed firearm when shot, the first round fired is still at a louder DB than a “HOT” suppressor or one that has been shot already
It was lame of him to panic like he did, but he thought the acorn sound was a gunshot. He responded like police are supposed to, though it was a frightened rookie version.
I had a roommate in college who had grown up in Vietnam as a missionary kid. Her father had been shot to death in front of her by the Viet Cong. One night several guys in the men's dorm shot off firecrackers in the middle of the night under our dorm windows. I will never forget Miriam's reaction as long as I live. She screamed, jumped out of bed and pushed me onto the floor throwing herself on top of me. I knew it was just firecrackers but she thought she was reliving the nightmare of Vietnam.😢
What amazing, selfless instincts. Her immediate reaction was to protect you! It makes my heart hurt to think of the terror she felt in that moment. Hope she grew to be a strong, stable, and confident woman.
3:35 Dr. Grande going into extra detail on acorns is exactly why I like his analysis. 13:54 You know he's serious when he adds an extra condemnation at the end after his sign off.
Whats even more funny is how the 2nd officer joined in and just started shooting blindly at “no threat”… and didn’t get in trouble for shooting at something that didn’t display a threat.
Oh. My. God. I had not heard of this. I would've resigned also, hung my head and moved away. Its amazing that the guy handcuffed in the backseat wasn't killed.
Thanks for this! I saw the video but no description of what happened. Three times I watched, slowed the video down, listen with headphones and..... I never heard any of the sounds you would hear if a suppressed firearm were fired. To metal being torn through, no breaking glass, no impact with the officer and, most notably: no gun report. a suppressed weapon isn't silenced. The cops called it a silencer but I appreciate that Dr Grande used the proper term. If you use normal ammo in a suppressed gun, it doesn't make it silent. Instead, it reduces the noise a bit. Subsonic ammo is quiet but you'd still here it breaking glass and tearing right through door paneling. I heard none of that and had no clue what had actually happened. This .....explains a ton. Thank you!
Did the same and out my headphones on slowed down the video and you can BARELY hear a little “dink”. His double barely roll was hilarious though but this really is terrifying and thousands of videos of incompetence like this yearly and we just continue to allow it. Takes far more training to become a barber than a cop
My first thought when I hear about this the other day was, that man has no business being in law enforcement or any profession that requires carrying a gun.
Not sure which part of this story is better. Is it that a cop mistook a falling acorn for gunfire? Is it that even if it was gunfire he had no clue where it was coming from and emptied an entire clip? Is it that he believed he got shot even though it was just an acorn? Or is it the fact that he wasn't fired and arrested?
And the girl, that called the cops will never call the cops ever again after such trauma. Hope they get over it as well as they can, and sue them for millions.
I can’t be the only one disturbed that the acorn is still at large! Have we become so desensitized that a lone wolf attacker that caused such mayhem is merely shrugged off? I heard a member of the select board is an arborist, maybe there’s a conspiracy.
Oak-ay. Dr. Grande’s acorny jokes cracked me up, not one of them fell flat! Jesse’s decision to branch out into the police force was nuts because he obviously couldn’t handle the treemendous pressure. Five months of training, to be a cop in Florida. Just for comparison, it takes about the same amount of training to be a manicure tech. It takes a year of training to be a hair stylist. They keep that story going all the way to the hospital! ME: "Sir where are you hit?" OFFICER: "I don't know!" ME: 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
"Rabbit Season!". "Acorn Season! FIRE!"... Even Chip & Dale laughed their nuts off over this!
Well said !

I had an oak tree that use to drop paratrooper acorns on me on my front porch. So it's technically not the acorn's fault, but the oak tree's fault!
I saw this footage and just KNEW Doctor G would cover it
He’s been working on those stuntman rolls since he was 13 years old. He was afraid he was never going to get a chance to use them so he created one.😂
"In a nutshell...." Classic Dr. Grande!
The oaktrees or the couple 😅?! No, I get it! And yes, it is pretty loud!
Dude panicked. All wrought up. Fortunately, the guy in the cruiser didn't get hit.
He resigned. Not fired, not punished. Other officer ‘exonerated’. Insane. Rules for thee and not for me.
I read today that he has been reinstated as a police officer.
I wouldn't be surprised. Where did you read that?
Hell, he’s got street cred now he’s got an Officer Involved Shooting under his belt.
It was lame of him to panic like he did, but he thought the acorn sound was a gunshot. He responded like police are supposed to, though it was a frightened rookie version.
This is the type of cops you get when you def und the police
😂 Omg. Your description of the acorn and stuff while keeping a completely straight face cracked mw up. 😂
"The sky is falling!!! Requesting backup ASAP!!!"
HOW Dr. Grande didn't crack up even once is amazing. (no pun intended)
Because he edits his videos to keep a straight face. 🤣😂
He has the emotional control of Dr. Spock.

Good God don't speak of a coconut either. .
You're laughing but put yourself in this apprehended man shoes, in the car. God only knows how he survived and what he's been through.
Jesse is unhinged he is not in a Beverly Hills Cop movie. 😂
Poor lady, and a great friend ❤I hope she was able to heal and not be so afraid anymore.
Ok
Glad she defended you 😢
That is a friend to keep forever and to cherish. She was willing to protect you with her life. ❤😢
What?!?? Watch the video again.
The squad car was clearly acting aggressive and took a threatening stance, ready to strike at any second.
This is horrifying yet so comedically golden.
What’s even scarier is the fact that some hayseed police chief of a podunk town is going to think it’s a good idea to hire Jesse.
Not after this video.
@@morticiaheisenberg9679lmfao watch them xD rehires happen all the time in situations like this.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Grande!!🎉🎂🌵🏜️
"They weigh about 5 grams ..." 🤣🤣🤣 dude, your delivery is perfect! 🤣🤣🤣
Oh. My. God. I had not heard of this. I would've resigned also, hung my head and moved away. Its amazing that the guy handcuffed in the backseat wasn't killed.
@petererb9463stop it
So sad when an acorn turns to crime, I mean you could say it’s just plain nuts!
i could not stop lauging, how he pokes fun at the situation with a straight face, is just nuts.
The acorn probably mistook Jesse's huge mustache for a squirrel and decided to get the shell out of there.
I bet a squirrel was mad because Jackson was honking the horn for hours and threw the acorn to frame Jackson.
You outta derr o snap
Hey Chip, watch this!
@@temanor LMAO I know they ran their little tails off when that cop started blasting
My first thought when I hear about this the other day was, that man has no business being in law enforcement or any profession that requires carrying a gun.
this is the type of true crime coverage we need
Not sure which part of this story is better.
Is it that a cop mistook a falling acorn for gunfire? Is it that even if it was gunfire he had no clue where it was coming from and emptied an entire clip? Is it that he believed he got shot even though it was just an acorn? Or is it the fact that he wasn't fired and arrested?
And the girl, that called the cops will never call the cops ever again after such trauma. Hope they get over it as well as they can, and sue them for millions.
The fact that two cops mag dumped into the car and hit nothing?
@petererb9463their target was the man sitting inside the police car
@@mathewbowyer2221not even each other. Amazing
two clips. he reloaded
I can’t be the only one disturbed that the acorn is still at large! Have we become so desensitized that a lone wolf attacker that caused such mayhem is merely shrugged off? I heard a member of the select board is an arborist, maybe there’s a conspiracy.
Your deadpan delivery is a thing of beauty.
Oak-ay. Dr. Grande’s acorny jokes cracked me up, not one of them fell flat! Jesse’s decision to branch out into the police force was nuts because he obviously couldn’t handle the treemendous pressure. This story is acornucopia of squirrelly decisions and it’s unbeleafable that no one was charged. I’m truly shell-shocked!
Oh God...😂
Your comment is just above being corny but below being shady😊
That is obvious in hindsight, not necessarily when he decided to enter the force. If he was untested, how would he know?
Oak-ay, enough puns!!
"From little acorns, mighty oaks grow." Says it all Doc. Much love. Keep up the grear work!

These days you cannot depend on anything. But the one thing that you can rely on is that Dr Grande will post a video each day. A Dr Grande video is not only interesting I consider it "one of my 5 a day". 😉👍
Two hours and 10,000+ views ❤
This is my absolute favorite video you've ever made and I watch every one.
The humor had me cackling, and I loved the tidbit at the end.

He sits in the corner waiting for autumn and mutters to himself, "People are nuts... absolutely nuts..."
The way Dr. Grande tells the whole story with a straight is GOLDEN 😅😂. And, his sarcasm. 🤣
Has anyone checked the local squirrels alibis? They are quite intelligent and it's entirely possible they set this police officer up.
The acorn: I was just minding my own business and then they start shooting in my direction! Acorns matter!

oh my gosh I realized my mouth was open in a "what the heck" manner the whole time while you explained what Jesse did after the acorn hit the car. I was all astonishment. good grief.
You should hear the audio
Oh my goodness this is the funniest commentary on this story that I have heard kudos 🤣
Priceless delivery of the line “An acorn is the nut of an oak tree” 😂😂😂 Great video as always, Dr. Grande!
This is why I love this channel. Deadpan delivery with a humerous undertone.
This might be the funniest, brightest video I’ve watched of yours.
I remembered seeing this video like a week ago and couldn’t believe it…. How do you hear a metal thump and assume you’ve been shot. Fear and the mind can do some weird stuff apparently. Absolutely nuts.
You know after watching dozens of his videos the puns he makes still catches me off guard lol his tone is perfect
I watched this yesterday. It's wild. How the hell did he pass training!?
Five months of training, to be a cop in Florida. Just for comparison, it takes about the same amount of training to be a manicure tech. It takes a year of training to be a hair stylist. I'm seeing a root cause of the problem here. When a guy can be given free range with a gun in less time than it takes to learn to style hair...
Just think. This guy was in special forces in the Army.
Police departments are desperate.
