I saw 2 thing's I've never seen before. 1 the lighter on the spoon. Brilliant idea never would've thought about that. 2 the esbit stove on the entrenching tool. With all of my years in the bush, and experience, I didn't know this was a thing. Priceless, thanks for sharing 👍

The German tarp and the Carinthia Tropen sleeping bag looks heavy but durable and will last for ever but looks expensive, I love it.

Interesting gear combination.. I've had an Esbit stove for at least 20 years. I haven't used it frequently but it's compact and convenient and has worked every time I use it. Thanks for the video

I love the sleep system. I still use a folding ground matt which is quick to pack/unpack but doesn't carry well anywhere on my pack.

Although I like, and use, water bladders, they tend to make me nervous in the event of possible failure .. especially with a full pack. I have never had one fail on me though .. preferring to use them rather, when so-needed, as the 'dirty' unpurified water collection device and then hard body containers for that made fit to drink.
Esbit Stove .. one of my favourites. I still use mine .. my initial personal issue for my National Military Service in the SADF (South African Defence Force) .. 1968 - 1984. So much so, that I bought another last year at my Decathlon Branch in Basel, Switzerland.
I keep a pack of the Esbit Tablets in each Stove for 'just in case' but generally use 'Brennsprit' or 'Sicherheitsbrennpaste' in home-made Burners. The Esbit Tabs are mainly obtainable from Specialist Outdoor Outlets and more expensive, compared to the Alcohol-Based Fuels that can be found at any Swiss Supermarket.
Waiting .. 🙄. Yes, our Mantra (complaint) was .. "Hurry and Wait .. always hurry and then #$%^ wait" 😁.

How is it doing bushcraft in the woods these days there? In the early 90's when I use to do this there, I had a German couple walking in the woods start screaming at me it was illegal, lol. I pressed on with my business. Great set up, very similar to mine when I lived there too.
Fortunately here in Switzerland, the 'Swiss Grannies' walking their dogs and such in the forest (although they may cast a beady eye in one's direction) don't seem to be overly fussed by such activities.
'Swiss Grannies' .. walking about, sitting at their windows .. watching, observing, ever vigilant. They see and report Everything! Up there amongst the top Surveillance Systems to be found anywhere 😁.
I love a lot of the German gear! A combo... US / GER gear load is cool. I've been resisting buying a Savotta small pack. Can't really justify it as I have quite a few packs including the Molle 2 patrol pack for get home, ILBE for bugout and others.

It's an excellent loadout. Just wish members of the Bundeswehr could be so adequately equipped. Hopefully, the Zeitenwende fund is getting equipment out to the troops.

Excellent loadout and equipment! Much more compact than Stoker's and with better capabilities with the plate carrier and FLIR. Your kit would work well here in the Appalachians, I wear Flecktarn while hunting and hiking.

Sehr cooles Video und geniale Idee mit den Expandern.
Vielleicht könntest du die BW-Zeltstangen noch durch Holzstangen (z.B. NVA-Zeltbesteck) ersetzen.
Die Alu-Zeltstangen hört man kilometerweit beim Abbau.
LG vom Fuße des Kyffhäusers.
Man kann die Aluzeltstangen auch mit Panzertape umwickeln.
Das reduziert die Lärmentwicklung ungemein.
Ist dann leise, leichter und haltbarer als Holz.

Is there a specific reason why you're wearing Hosengummis in the field? We were always orderred to take them out and pull the combat pants over the boots for better camouflage, ventilation and circulation which I always found reasonable. Cheers.
Hi and thanks for your comment. Personally I prefer them in the forest and in cold environment. It helps to keep ticks away and adds a little thermal insulation. Cheers 👍🏻
Most of that issued german equipment down to the uniform top and cap. The actual issued equipment hasnt changed since the 90s wich is sad but also the funniest experience i ever had joining back in 2020.

I'm in the US Army and a lot of Soldiers use Jetboils. Have you ever used one before and if so, how do you like it compared to the ezbit stove?
Does the military have any system for resupplying the fuel canisters or is it all on the individual guy to keep for himself? I get that the fuel canisters do last a good while though, I think the Germans have the esbit tabs supplied with MREs.
@@mikef3808 unfortunately the Army doesn’t supply Jetboils or fuel cans. It’s on the individual soldier to purchase them. I’ve been out in the field for a month at a time and I’ve never ran out of fuel. The cans long enough to be able to resupply when I get home

I'll tell ya guys, I'm old but back when I was packing / canoing, I used the early Coleman Peak One backpacking propabutane (or whatever you call it) stove and it's tiny and hot burning. You can get both small and large cans of fuel. A LOT smaller. Still have it as my bugout stove. Use whatever pot you want. Comes in a cool, tiny little zip up bag. Just to tell you how old I am, I still have the old Coleman white gas Peak One bomb. Nothin boiled as fast if it didn't burst into a bonfire on ya lol. Jet boil might now be faster but like I said...too big.

The water filter I carry doubles as a water flask. I typically do not carry a towel for 2-3 days in the field and the rations contain "Mehrzwecktücher" 😉 Cheers

Trennung:
Ich finde den Titel eher unglücklich. Es gibt kein wirkliches "Versus" bei Gear. Es gibt für jeden Auftrag (hier Vorhaben) zweckmäßiges und eher unzweckmäßiges. "Difference" wäre da ein besseres Wort.🤷♂️
Auch 'Military Patrol' bedarf meiner Meinung einer Definition. In deinem Gear ist dafür viel zuwenig Platz für Mags, Mun im Rucksack, Nebel und andere Wirkmittel. Plattenträger hätte bei mir (2006-2023) keiner getragen. Viel zu schwer und unpraktisch. Aber unser Hauptauftrag war auch Aufklärung (laaaange). Auch Beinholster ist dafür eher unpraktisch.

Danke für dein Feedback! Es kann sein, dass Kommentare gelöscht werden. Mit vs. wollte ich auf "difference" / "comparison" hinaus, das hätte es besser getroffen.
Da gebe ich dir völlig recht. Je nach Auftrag sieht die Ausrüstung sehr unterschiedlich aus. Daher hatte ich am Anfang "my personal kit" geschrieben. Die Kameraden mit denen ich zusammen übe tragen tatsächlich zum Großteil Plattenträger. Wie gesagt, denke ich, dass es stark vom Auftrag / der Einheit abhängig ist.

Servus nochmal. Falls du noch mitliest: Mir kam die Idee mal so zu packen wie man das bei den Aufklärern macht. Hast du evtl noch eine Packliste o.ä.? Würde gerne mal wieder eine Tour mit Hinkelstein auf dem Rücken machen 😉👍🏻 Munition und Gerät müsste ich dann mit anderweitigem Gewicht ausgleichen. Horrido und Grüße, Martin

"Plattenträger" (plate carrier) Was only in use with SOC (KSK) and 3-5000 personal only Afghanistan, Afrika and Kosovo forces.
The average german soldier at home had a 50 years old "Koppeltragehilfe"... Similar to Wehrmacht. And Far away from modern 21st century Equipment.
But in 2021/22 germany ordered 180.000 complete New "MOBAST" Systems for every active soldier.
This includes Ballistic "Plattenträger, Ballistic underwear and other Personal wearing Systems.
The Koppeltragesystem is from the 1990‘s and is much better than Wehrmacht Koppel.
Plate Carryers are mit only used for KSK.
I have seen it by other Specical Forces here in Germany.
And many soldiers use Self payed, Private stuff.
Most of the soldiers either have an issued ballistic SK4 vest or they buy themselves a plate carrier. The Koppeltragesystem is standard issue, however it does not offer ballistic protection.
Half the BW stuff is privately purchase. As I can see things have not improved.
It depends on your unit. Imho quite some things have changed positively. Cheers!
