what a time to be just a person on the set ...what a great time they must have had making Club Paradise! Wish I could, have been there. Agreed, I absolutely ADORE him.
I am SOOO glad I didn't ask him for an autograph. I wouldn't want people bugging me if I Were famous. Met him in the early 80's when he came in the store where I was working. He was my customer but we didn't carry what he was looking for. So he looked around and bought a magazine. While I was ringing up his purchase though (had to call the bank in those days to see if a customers card was "good") he started to perform anyway with silly noises, voices and jokes. There was only about 6-7 of us in the store and all my coworkers gathered around. He didn't need to perform, nobody had cameras in those days. I was surprised when he just started to perform. I don't do my job when I'm not getting paid for it. I wish I had told him he was good enough just the way he was, because it seemed like he was compelled to make people laugh and I would have rather gotten to know him, the real him. After he left, I looked at the invoice he signed, and for a split second I thought about taking it to the copy place around the corner, but I didn't ASK for his autograph, so that would be stealing. And then I put it in the cash drawer with the others where it belonged. Anyway I heard he came back in a couple of weeks later but I wasn't working that day. I'm not sure why he came back if we didn't have what he wanted the first time. I've got a lot of strange coincidences regarding him though, the date I got married was the date he died, AND we watched one of his movies on our wedding night, my kids names and his kids names or characters names of movies he was in. Strange stuff
