Hello Solomon, Thank you for the mention in this video. What I use against 1...g6 is 2.Be2 playing into the 'Grand Prix System' the brain child of Vladislav Kovalev I believe. White plays d3, f4, Nf3 etc. Its pretty much a Classical Dutch reversed but two tempi up! So you'll understand the "Caveman Attack" that follows (Qe1-h4, f4-f5, Bh6,Ng5 etc) White also has the option of c3 followed by d2-d4 with a big centre or Na3-c2 and b2-b4. Have a llok at Kovalev's games. There great in there own right. Best regards and a Merry Christmas, Rob.
I found another strong weapon against the owens. Its the Leela Gambit with white: 1. e4 b6 2. d4 Bb7 3. Nc3 e6 4. h4 Bb4 5. Ne2 Bxe4 6. a3 Bxc3+ 7. Nxc3 Bb7 8. Qg4 The name ist from the engine who plays it against 1.b3 as black As for g6 I dont like them either. But I think the f3 g4 g5 stuff is quite good against it
The wing gambit in the french looks fun! When recommending a gambit, PLEASE prioritize giving a brief overview of the declined variations as well. cxb4 is only 48% playrate. Black could just play 4. ...b6 and your viewers will flounder :P doesn't seem to be mentioned on the main video on it, either 15 traps in the ponziani is a lot! I'm currently working on an opening which currently sits at ~15 traps.. and I consider it one of the trappiest openings in my repertoire! Ponziani is definitely a powerful tool! "sigh, d4 i just like doing [skims through main line]" it feels like you're brushing off the most obvious-for-black, most played, most critical line... I'm certain this is a strong opening choice, but it feels strange to lead with bizarre sideline opening traps that don't happen ----- Against g6 there are many options, but here is mine: 1. e4 g6 2. d4 Bg7 3. h4 -3. ...d6 4. h5 Nc6 5. d5 Ne5 6. h6! -3. ...Nf6 4. e5 Nd5 5. c4 Nb6 6. h5 d6 7. h6! -3. ...c5 4. d5 d6 5. h5 Nf6 6. h6! -3. ...h5 4. Nc6 and you just take advantage of the g5 square being a good outpost (reminiscent of Bayonet Attack in the Pirc) It's a load of fun and makes modern players sad. I do similar shenanigans against Pirc players, although I would also recommend the Chinese variation against the Pirc to discourage h5. It could be a good idea in the modern to even play 1. e4 g6 2. Nc3 Bg7 3. d4 d6 4. g4 to get an even better version of the Chinese variation of the Pirc, as black struggles to play Nf6.
You're the best Bro. Teaching repertoire instead of your own games seems humbling yourself. Don't be like others who are repeatedly showing their games because that seems to be boastful especially if they are not a Grandmaster yet..
Ayy thank you for that brotha! Ya I do have personal games on this channel too but I try to not let them be the main focus of this channel + I have plenty of losses on here too... pretty silly to act like I win every game I play and only post those!

I think videos like this type are great to many beginners and intermediate players who have no idea with choosing opening. Thanks for great stuff.
You got it! Glad you liked it - a lot of fun chess openings to choose from but these were my favorites this year.
Thank you Chess Giant. I'm 63 at the intermediate level and learning a lot from you. Merry Christmas !!
Thanks for that Troy! Glad you're liking the content. Merry Christmas to you and yours!!
As a Pirc player, this is fascinating
Do you run into this idea sometimes or not really?
@TheChessGiant not a lot yet, but I suspect I might if/when my ELO (which peaked around 1200) improves.

You got it Rob and interesting I'll have to look into those options! Merry Christmas!

Oh interesting - I'll have to take a look at that! And ya that's true that overall kingside expansion is probably tough for 1. ...g6 players.
Very informative.. thank you for sharing
Of course! Glad you liked it.
The bishop’s opening and Vienna game are the bane of my existence 😂😂
😂🙏🏼

Against g6 there are many options, but here is mine:
1. e4 g6 2. d4 Bg7 3. h4
-3. ...d6 4. h5 Nc6 5. d5 Ne5 6. h6!
-3. ...Nf6 4. e5 Nd5 5. c4 Nb6 6. h5 d6 7. h6!
-3. ...c5 4. d5 d6 5. h5 Nf6 6. h6!
-3. ...h5 4. Nc6 and you just take advantage of the g5 square being a good outpost (reminiscent of Bayonet Attack in the Pirc)

Hey thanks for the feedback and great thoughts!
g6 is the Kryptonyte for e4. Immediately resingning is by far the best move for White 😂
All I see is FACTS 😂😂😂😂
Great stuff. Can you show us your Black repotoire?
Thanks
I will have to do a video on that! Thanks for the idea

Nice. It almost looks like you turned the French into the Benko for white.
Yes exactly!
