    9.86. Into a -0.2 headwind. After slowing down the last 10 meters. That easily could have been a 9.79 had he run through the line. WOW! We are in for a few good years with this young man! CONGRATS!

      Yeah I just hope Jamaica can put a few more good runners alongside him to come up with a good 4x100 team. The days of Bolt-Blake-Powell-Carter are behind us. I want to see a new group emerge that can compete head-to-head with the American men at the highest level. The Jamaica-USA sprint rivalry is fun to watch, so I hope to see it continue for years to come. The Jamaican women are doing their thing, but the men are kind of going through a slump right now.

    These observations seem to be at least 2 years old (2019-2020), of Seville et al, while the former was still at Calabar High School. He has improved leaps and bounds since, as evidenced by his 9.86 while flirting with 9.7s at Jamaica's National Stadium on Saturday May 21, 2022.

    it's not right to judge sprinters by posture. Limb mechanics (movements) are the cause of forces acting on the joints. But posture is probably different for any individual. What really matters are the forces acting on the body. Of course we can't see those forces but we can guess by certain movement patterns.
    I highly believe that forces should start form the deep core (spine/pelvic stabilizer psoas) and transmit through the body ending at the limbs. This means the deep core muscles are key and must be highly active. Every thing that follow should be reflexive.

    • @Performancelabofcalifornia
      @Performancelabofcalifornia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Manuel what about the feet?

    • @Leonidas-eu9bb
      @Leonidas-eu9bb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Performancelabofcalifornia Good point!
      I experimented alot with the feed (ankle rocker, big toe arch,..) And i realized that the feed indeed play a critical role in force development. But it's hard to say if the foot is the cause or the effect for proper force development. The body (brain) only activates it's full power potential voluntary if there isn't a chance for injury to happen. So stability and mobility must be ensured.
      I find for myself that with the right setup the muscle firing pattern is special. The core, glutes and VMO should work together in a stable squating movement for example.

    • @Performancelabofcalifornia
      @Performancelabofcalifornia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Manuel yes it is just a very interesting conversation because there are tremendous critical parts to the body. Deep intrinsic core like you mention, foot control and head and neck control. They all seem to work around each other but all have integral roles as individual systems as well.

Also the boys and girls championship are coming up in march so you can check that out if you have time. That's where the magic happens and where the coaches from america go to. @@Stewy-xw9fz its wise for coaches in Jamaica to assess the student athletes' drive. If its purely based on popularity then, personally, its a waste of time banking on consistency from them going forward professionally. I'm banking on Seville because so far his motivations seem unlike most of the talented, spoiled lot of student athletes. They're not like Bolt and Blake who love the limelight but remained driven.

    These kids get the money too early and it ruins them. They are not hungry like Bolt was at that age. Bolt did not have the opportunities these kids have and that is why he became great. He was not pampered and spoiled. I hope we can find a few kids who don't let fame and money get to their heads.

      Stewy 1156 I agree with money spoiling these kids but bolt did get the same opportunities they got. Bolt was signed to puma and digicel straight out of high school. Bolt was in the spot light as a super start ever since he won world junior at the national stadium in Jamaica. He just had a different mind set and worked harder

    • @Hengel_Andrews
      @Hengel_Andrews 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bolt was getting money from Puma when he was 15... How many Class 1 records did Bolt set? What happened to Bolt between 2004 and 2007? Bolt did all the things you’re accusing these guys of doing. Bolt got money early, Bolt got more opportunities, Bolt let it get to his head, he was spoiled and pampered. Otherworldly talent and the intervention of Glen Mills in 07 saved Bolt.

    Jamaica does not overthink or overtrain like American Coaches do. Most do not even see a track until big competition, they run on grass. Usain Bolt had terrible mechanics in his shoulders, American Coaches would have wasted years trying to fix it.

      Performance Lab of California Typical American. There are 3 million people on the small island of Jamaica and despite the US constantly trying to convince Jamaicans to run under the US flag, Jamaica still manages with little resources to claim an equal or larger share of Sprinting dominance in the world. Yet you want to claim that crown with over 350 million people and unlimited resources.

    • @Performancelabofcalifornia
      @Performancelabofcalifornia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      DA S well it’s different. A large portion of the Jamaican population participate in track and field. I bet not even .5% of that 350 million participate in track and field. And the Americans that do compete on the highest levels probably come from backgrounds with limited resources.
