    Seth says that delver transforms pretty consistently. But I have to think about all the times the delver fizzles during seth's streams.

      There's not Brainstorm to set it up though most of the time.

    Are you going to do a stream on this deck?

  • @ezjamin
    @ezjamin 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mongoose and Tarmo are just not the threats they once were.
    Pretty sure grixis, bug and pure izzet strats are just better delver decks now.

  • @Icenri

    How do you play a Delver on the play and then stifle your opponent's first land?

    • @Elementasic
      @Elementasic 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if they don't have a sorcery speed spell or creature alot of players will wait until the end of the opponents turn to act using their instants, in that case your mana will be untapped again to stifle them, if they crack it on their turn than yes you would be correct you wouldn't be able to.

  • @Okiesmokie
    @Okiesmokie 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    One thing you didn't mention about submerge is that it's basically a free kill spell if your opponent cracks a fetch land.

    • @justinkp
      @justinkp 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the opponent can choose not to search I think so they don't have to shuffle but if so you're still killing a land.

    • @Aronia55
      @Aronia55 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have to search, it's not optional, they can fail to find a land because they're searching a hidden zone but they would still have to shuffle regardless

  • @justinkp

    Why the 2/1 split between pyroblast/red elemental blast? I know pyroblast has corner cases where it's better (not relevant to this deck but I love it's interaction with Dack Fayden's emblem - seems like something Seth would like too) - is red elemental blast better in some weird situation?

    • @colgatelampinen2501
      @colgatelampinen2501 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      REB is better when your opponent has Divert, Spellskite or Misdirection. Pyroblast is better in this deck only when you don't have sensible targets for REB and need to hit threshold to grow Mongoose. In this deck I think REB is more likely to be superior than Pyroblast so I would play 1/2 split instead. Split is played mainly because of Cabal Therapy and Meddling Mage and it also helps sometimes against other effects, which care about card's name.

    Winter orb is such a miracles hoser I am surprised not to see any in the 75.

    • @hobitfromhell
      @hobitfromhell 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jaret pocsik Legacy deck lists aren't set in stone, especially tempo style decks like this. There is always variation in the actual numbers/threats, and sideboard options are so varied you can mix and match whatever you think works best for the meta. The best way to look at this is that it's an example of a rug-tempo deck and how it wants to play; cantrips, cheap threats and disruption.

    • @jpocsik
      @jpocsik 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree with you. It is definitely a format that you can come back to with the same deck after a long time and still do well with just based on the fact that you play your deck well.

  • @carlocaverzasio5767
    @carlocaverzasio5767 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Side notes: 1. this deck is much, much worse if you lose the dice 2. this is the most extreme form of tempo deck in legacy. It literally has the poorest lategame in the format. 3. Therefore, it's very hard to play, because one slight mistake (like a wrongly arranged brainstorm) can seriously put you behind.

    • @justinkp
      @justinkp 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The deck is basically designed to operate on the smallest margins possible.

    • @colgatelampinen2501
      @colgatelampinen2501 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It plays less lands than most decks, so if opponent can't trade their spells in better ratio than 1 for 1, this is going to win late game too.

    • @carlocaverzasio5767
      @carlocaverzasio5767 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Colgate Lampinen ahem...sorta. It plays less lands because it can operate on two lands. However, its lategame is very poor. Every Canadian Threshold's goal is never get to lategame. They just drop a single threat and coast to coast you with it, while disrupting everything you do. If any deck gets a chance to play against this deck (like actually casting some serious spells) they are much likely to win the game.
      edit: on a sidenote, i'm not a hater, i love canadian. I'm just saying that 12 medium-sized vanilla creatures and 4 bolts are not what I call "monster lategame".

    Sheesh look at your own website's legacy meta game when picking a "tier" deck. Rug delver aint even in the meta anymore. It's all about grixis delver now.
