They get a new younger drummer every few years, but the Yamano sisters still look great well into middle age. I remember a few years ago at a show where Naoko was joking about how young their new drummer looked. They rock!

Finally got to see Shonen Knife in Sydney Australia at the Metro last Saturday, rocked so hard they were metal, female drummers are still the sexiest musicians.
Just saw this trio last night in Vegas. They are so fun to listen to, both in music and when they're talking. They are very comedic. They also LOVE food. Look at their lyrics and song titles, it's funny. I definitely suggest everyone to give these ladies a listen to.

I remember Shonen Knife in Calgary back in the 90's... they were here often... always kind of had a thing for them... and the music was always fun and cool... always makes me feel like taking a trip to Japan... never really saw the place yet.. just a layover in the airport... love to see SK in Japan

Saw them last night in Falmouth and they were brilliant. Atsukos bass sounded great, Naoko kept the crowd happy (Hello Falmouth, Rock City!) and Risa just blew me away with her energy and enthusiasm. They are on their UK Adventure tour. Go see them you wont be dissapointed.

Yes this is their 35th year tour, Naoko is about to turn 56 (She's about 10 months older than me) Atsuko is 53 and Risa (The new drummer), is 21.
I first heard them in the 1990''s and was blown away! Age should not matter anyway, music is timeless. I love this band, it is pure, simple, tight and gives me a lift everytime.

Let's never forget how great the original bass player, Michie Nakatani, was. And she wrote almost as many songs as Naoko. A forgotten genius.

The bass is made by Fujigen, to match Naoko's "Fujigen Naoko Yamano Special" Salmon pink Guitar.
