    When I first set out to study translation theory I got so extremely confused and frustrated until I came across Jeremy Munday. He is the smartest scholar ever along with the late Hans Vermeer.

    for any practically minded person, it doesnt take them long to see that this book and its theories are made by people who crave somekind of academic appraisal, because translation was never so complicated, book just gives different words for the same thing described in ridiculous fashion over and over and over again, nit pickers and fusspots, abosolutely ridiculous, i feel like im wasting my time and life reading it, its like looking at blades of grass and trying to describe the differences between them... insane... kylla mun aidin kieli on jokin muu kuin englantia, anteeks kirjoitus virheista... vitun hullu tuouhu , ihan oikeesti, kato vaan tata tyypia... niin arsyttavaaaaa

      You forgot to mention that this is the most clear, concise, straightforward, no-nonsense book of its kind, i.e the go-to book for those who wish to make some sense of all the other meaningless intellectual pap spouted by academics within the field of translation studies. Other than that, I couldn't agree more! School really has a peerless knack of getting in the way of your education. Given that the subject it presents is desperately dull, the book at least is well written, short, simple, and to the point.

    • @SSpotlight

      "Translation was never so complicated": this is one of the most arrogant comments about translation I heard in decades. Underestimating the complexity of translation and the important amount of research that has been done is just shameful

    • @Gabriel22051995
      @Gabriel22051995 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Only a self-centered, arrogant, semi-literate Indian could leave such a comment. Please, I do beg you, mind your grammar. And bear in mind that you have a long way to go before reaching the level of expertise you believe you're at now.

  • @nallekarhu7994

    I believe the book this guy wrote is the reason i wont get into study english, i have to read this book, and to say the least, its tedious, boring, conflicted, it completely overcomplicates a fairly simple concept, and nobody seems to agree on what system of translation to use, how about using a person that can use their own common sense when translating, instead of introducing into the equation science terminology to an abstract subject, this guy needs to get laid.

    • @poopinlumpy

      You could not be more wrong in your assertions. If YOU translated, I bet my house and home that YOU would provide a poor translation, over and over again until you accept that Translation is a vastly complex cognitive activity and it is not just anyone who can do it.

    • @MrFranciss
      @MrFranciss 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      nalle karhu The book is very simple and useful and all the theories are helpful to any translator who wants to produce a conscious translation.

      Have you considered the fact that perhaps you lack the intellectual faculty to appreciate the value of the book?

      Unless you have not been properly introduced to linguistics. You might find translation studies quite difficult.
