Just cancelled my policy yesterday after I made a claim to fix my washer and the contractor they sent did not fix the issue and broke the top cover. He also left greasy finger prints in the inside and outside of the unit. When I called first American they didn’t care and just made another claim. The contractors they use are rated “F” on the BBB website. They don’t care about their policy holders.
We have FAHW and they know that are sending poor quality techs from one-horse companies. It used to be the contractor would collect the deductible ‘service fee’ after having completed the job (properly done or not). Today FAHW demands the service fee up-front before they’ll assign a contractor who may or may not be skilled enough to use a screwdriver. I had another run-around session with them today regarding a Carrier split heat pump system; they were not sure they had contractors on their list for central Virginia that could work on a Carrier air-handler. I’m cancelling the ‘policy’ and having a trusted HVAC, Carrier authorized company here tomorrow. FAHW have reported annual REVENUES of only $10M-$50M. Crooks in my book. If I had cancelled this warranty at its scheduled renewal date, I’d have additional on hand to cover the repair costs from a bonafide Carrier approved HVAC contractor.
ARW wants it up front too..then nothing happens...both times their response to me was -Can't locate service provider...I'm retired contractor--I could do it all myself..even take care of problems w/my wellwhich is the only reason we took out policy for in first place--Not Me/my wife..now I'm never going to hear the end of this problem from her..Cheaper to replace/repair yourself in the long run...They are all scammers..
This company is a SCAM!!!!!! I paid them and did nothing to my house. I requested a refund and it was denied, I requested them to have the plumbing company do the job by reopening the case which was closed when nothing was done and it was denied. I talked to supervisors and the agents disrespected me and hung up on me. DO NOT GET IT!!!!!! I WATED THEM OVER 600 DOLLARS WITH THEM!!!

These home warranty companies are an absolute joke and I can assure you as bad as they treat the homeowners they aren't much better to their contractors and would gladly testify in a court of law against them and their practices!
I paid a little over $700 for a new hot water heater cause of modifications and getting things up to code. If you have the first-class service they cover up to $250 for the permit. I didn't know that was a thing so I even had to pay for the permit for them to even be able to work on it LOL. Mind you that the hot water heater was covered by First American.
I'm 55, I can't think of a SINGLE company more screwed. Months to get anything done but yet they always take your money. Cancel your membership immediately if you have any sense
I could not agree more. They are terrible. They even lie. I cancelled my policy via the phone and they continued to charge me. They had the audacity to say that I never called. They are crooks!!! Avoid at all costs !!!

Total scam.. They pay SO little to the service companies that only horribly rated plumbers, HVAC, etc. will take a contract with them. Basically those who can't keep customers. We had plumbing DAMAGED by a service company they sent. They refused to help at all. If you ASK them which companies are in your area that work with them...They will NOT tell you cause they know you will look up the reviews.
Oooo This upsets me. We had them out to fix a leaking washing machine, they damaged it further and the tech made it look like it was fixed but had it set up where it was leaking out the backside of the washer where we couldn’t see it happening! We just had to rip out the entire laundry room full of mold and rot…. I called to report the technician and paid another service fee to have them come out and the tech was just out this morning. When the technician put in the work request they denied it outright.
FAHW colluded with a substandard contractor to charge me a $1000 for what the contract fully covered according to my coverage - FRAUD by definition !! Modifications should be made to these scammers... WHAT IS WRONG WITH BBB allowing these sheisters stay in business????
People are really stupid, don't you think if you put $60 a month to the side that you can buy a new water heater every year? The same applies with your social security your $60 a month will end up being a lot more than your social security will pay out
Some can, but most people live dollar to dollar you jac***ss. It's called insurance for a reason. People do it for a lot of other things, cars, homes, de tal, eyes, health.. yourself included.
Looking at where she had the water heater, I can understand, her house was not set up properly and the warranty company replaces the water heater but you want to them to replace the equipment needed to properly install?
Class action lawsuit should be pursued. Im canceling them immediately.

American home shield asked for $100, then we paid $557 to anytime plumbing. To replace the water heater.....what a suprise
I had to pay 234 to replace a gas valve leak. Home warranty is a scam.

We had a similar problem, this is a horrible company, hope someone can do something to push them for a change.

I wish I do some research before using their service. Now I am stuck with a broken washer not knowing when it will be fix. Don't use their service.

It’s not stupid to believe that if you sign a contract that literally states that. Hence why states have opened up investigations.
