@Obi Sanchez. Think before you write. Man fights with what he has. Vladimir had a terrible chin, he knew it. So he fought his way which made him second longest reigning champion. Hed he used your advice, he would have been on the floor all the time. If you want to watch brave (but stupid) fighters go to street. This is SPORT. Hit and avoid getting hit. That is boxing. Vladimir was not for average pub guys who after their fifteenth beer wanted to see savage fights, but for those wjo understand the sport. You don't seem to be amongst them.
@@camberlubos3995 That's exactly why Floyd Mayweather is still undefeated, he hits and avoids getting hit by all means even if he has to park the bus lol.
Nothing unanimous about that fight. Peter had Vladimir down 3 times. If Peter had scored a KO, he would have had the fight. One of Vladimir's toughest fights.
@Ronny Blogs I had no issues with Vladimir winning. If he had done enough, why not. And if Peter did anything illegal, am sure the ref was there to sort it out either by warning or points deductions. However, that was never a (unanimous decision) win.
You can thank Emanuel Steward for saving Wlad's career. He took an easily gassed fighter with a glass jaw and showed him how to jab and hold. Wlad was bigger and taller than nearly everyone and his reach and new Steward strategy made him very difficult to beat in a era with little competition. I remember Emanuel saying that "Wlad will not throw one right hand for the first five rounds". If the Refs had not been so lenient with Wlad and his holding, there might have been some more upsets. Steward also said that Tyson Fury was the future of HW boxing, and that it was now entering the realm of "super HW's". One other thing- watch a highlight reel of Wlad's KO's- and you will see that he pushed nearly all of his knockdowns in the chest with both hands. Very interesting-
Saving his career is a stretch. Who in the 2000's beats young Wladimir without it being a Corrie Sanders situation? David Hayne is pretty much the only guy I can think of besides his brother. Wladimir did tons of jabbing and holding, before Steward. Steward's big ticket was teaching Wladimir how to hide his jaw better and work on his timing. Also, it sounds like you're trying to downplay Wladimir. You can pretty much thank every fighter's trainer beyond the year 1920 for their success. What would Ali, Bowe, Patterson, Fury, and Tyson have been without great trainers? Gatekeepers, at best. Very, very few fighters can be a one man band a succeed without the help of a great team, which is why a lot of modern mma and boxing fighters thank their team after fights these days. The trainer might show them how to do certain things, but the fighter is still the one who has to get in there and do it.
@@williamsmith1803 So Ali, Tyson, and Fury would be "gatekeepers at best?" Sorry pal, that little gem disqualifies you from any discussion about Boxing. David Haye and Corrie? Please. Wlad and the poor competition set HW Boxing back a decade.
@@dunningkruger3774 Without their trainers, you don't have the slightest idea of how they would've ended up, clown. Tyson was just some street bum, until Cus turned him into a killing machine and even then he immediately began to rapidly descend into mediocrity once Cus passed. Tyson Fury was just a big lurch who had no power and couldn't stay in shape, until Kronk turned him around. Do you think John Fury and Hughie were going to bring him close to the level he's at now? Muhammad Ali with a different style than the unique one he used would've gotten him murdered. Imagine Ali trying to sit down on his jab and plant his feet to back up Liston like a traditional boxer... he would've had developed the shakes from that one fight alone. Without the right team, fighters who have the potential to dominate the sport won't do shit.
Yeah, not everyone can stop punches by their head all night long like muahamad ali used to. Man has to use what he has. Unlike Ali in his late 40's, Klicko can be understood when he speaks. He did something right.
Watch the full fight, instead of this biased highlight collection. At the end of the night, Peter was bleeding from his mouth & nose, and both his eyes were swollen almost completely shut. He was outlanded 2 to 1.
This video shows the highlights where S. Peter is dominant. I saw the fight live and yes, Klitschko was knocked down 3 times, but in those rounds that he did jot get knocked down, he dominated the fight with his jab.
Klitscko was a very good BOXER, mastered the basic one-two probably better than anybody else in the division, also mastered the art of holding and he had a very good defence... But he could never go to war the way holyfeild, lewis, ali, fraizer, foreman could.. When he ever got hit with heavy leather he would go into pansy mode and start flaying around the ring in panic mode, he would often just flop to the canvas in order to just get a break from his attacking opponent. He was a good boxer but he was never a fighter, lacked any real toughness and never went to war once in his 70 fight pro career.
Rare escape of Wladimir from Nigerian Bull.Peter has great power and is very offensive and aggressive.Really a narrow escape of Wladimir from Peter. The great fight .Haha.
Boy I'm telling you those judges shouldn't be in the position there in, Samuel Peters won that fight without a doubt. He probably got hit more but he knocked wladmir down on the canvas a couple of times I didn't see Samuel Peter go down at all.
Great holding by Klitschko again..Ref should penalise Klitschko early for holding 1 pt to discourage it, and penalise again as he does it, then it would be a fair fight.
In my opinion, Klitschko is not as great a boxer as many would think, he does way too much holding, hugging, grasping around the head and running away from the fight even though most of his opponents are shorter than he is. That's not real fighting.
The definition of “holding” in the ABA rules is exactly what Vlad does... it’s the deliberate act of holding or maintaining a clinch with no effort to punch. Clinching while working is not “holding” but what he does is attempt to wrap up using both his arms and no attempt at all to punch is going on.

Peter ,very best
Vladimir used his reach well enough. Those jabs did it for him.
And is holding also legal??
Throw one jab and you hug peter for long continue like that till you win. That is the attributes of a coward. Brave men and real fighter like peter come out to fight through out the 12 rounds they are not interested in hugging you, they are hungry to knock you out.
@Obi Sanchez.
@@camberlubos3995 Shut up!

So Klitschko has been how many?! 3 times knocked down, and gets the win??!! What a robbery!!!

I did not see the whole fight but from these highlights I have no idea how Vlad won
Watch the whole fight, Peter only won the rounds where he knocked Wladimir down
Great holding by Klitschko again..Ref should penalise Klitschko early for holding 1 pt to discourage it, and penalise again as he does it, then it would be a fair fight.
In my opinion, Klitschko is not as great a boxer as many would think, he does way too much holding, hugging, grasping around the head and running away from the fight even though most of his opponents are shorter than he is. That's not real fighting.
ALI did same with Fraizer 1
The ref should have penalized Peter's rabbit punching, too.

The definition of “holding” in the ABA rules is exactly what Vlad does... it’s the deliberate act of holding or maintaining a clinch with no effort to punch. Clinching while working is not “holding” but what he does is attempt to wrap up using both his arms and no attempt at all to punch is going on.

There should be a cumulative knockdown score rule.
First knockdown is 10-8 then 10-7 and then 10-6.
