Graduating from a Swiss apprenticeship allowed me to achieve following successful career path. With diploma in hand I was hired and trained to install and service machine tools at customers facilities in Switzerland and Germany. Later I was assigned by my employer to their US facility. Some years later I was hired by one of our customers, a large connector manufacturer, as manufacturing engineer. After an internship in Switzerland I was promoted to Senior Manufacturing Engineer designing tooling, production schedules and procuring the latest production equipment to produce connectors for the Boeing 747. A few years later I found a partner helping me to start up my own precision machining facility which I sold 21 years later to concentrate my efforts as a machinery dealer and appraiser. I am blessed to have found my calling as machinist over sixty years ago. I now share my good fortune with young people who are working to get certified in various metalworking skills by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills.

Daniel Roth is Apprenticeship Academy Instructor at Buhler Inc. Minneapolis. He has set-up and introduced the educational training system programm with Buhler Inc. from day one. Since then he has successfully trained and supported a number of apprentices and meanwhile the first group of apprentices have graduated with their apprenticeship diplomas. The Swiss work-based educational training system can become a great success story for Swiss companies in the US and for the future US educational system.I am so very proud of you my brother.Carole Sebastianutto-Roth

I totally agree with the initiative what Buhler came up with to train skill base and retain in the future! if possible.
I studied my qualification in India, from 1986 to 1991.

I in my opinion do not like to compare "College,Universities or even Apprenticeship Vocational Trades-Earn While you Learn Program, The things to me,When it comes to "Opportunities" Is that anybody can excel at whatever he or she have in their "Heart&Soul" That in which comes to mind,And anybody that have a "Burning Passionate Desire" to make in life,Without having anyone or "Corporate Alliances"striping away "Visions & Dreams can accomplish anything,Base of the love of what people are passionate and successful at whatever one's does,Not only examples,But that to.

That sure sounds good on the job training the best way to go if you don't go to college,

Eisen J Eisen acctuly it is probably a better way than college.
Switzerland would never be able to keep a competitive economie and certenly not industry if 2/3 of its futur works force went to college and the rest directly to work.

Your comment about the mandatory swiss military service has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the topic of vocational training and its benefits for US companies, US participants and the US society as a whole.
