Let's not condemn. Let's keep appreciating the one proving our expectations and yet consistently pointing out the lapses of the others who are not to make them wake up to the reality of the present. They may be knee deep in the mud coming out clean can not be instant, but little by little. Uknow what I mean. Africa will overcome but a step at a time.

Before you say Botswana is poor or anything like that look at your country.. South Africa has a poverty rate of 55% while Botswana is at 16.1 and Botswana was built up to what it is financially and infrastructure wise by her natives when the British gave her independence they only left 6km of tarred road and a few ministerial buildings unlike South Africa which was developed under Afrikanner leadership. Learn to be humble my dear South Africans, your brother's triumph should be a beacon of light and inspiration not a precursor of jealousy and hatered. This is why africa can never unite. The same Botswana is the one that was the first to give your father/freedom fighters amnesty when nobody would even look in their direction, now you talk about US bases and Botswana wanting to invade you? why help those you want to conquer? Botswana might not be perfect or fit your standards of ideal but at least she is ours

But above all we was never colonised for explotational reasons . Diomands were discovered a short while after we gained independence . Around then atleast 78% of the population was illiterate mind you, we are only 2 million as of now.

@@MrJohhnycongo you obviously don't know what you are saying, maybe you should interview guys who have been their.
Most mining companies in D.R.Congo are actually multinational companies not state-owned, and by the way, the most successful resource dependent nations don't rely on multinational companies, good examples are Saudi Arabia with ARAMCO and Russia with GAZPROM.
The real problem with D.R.Congo is lack of political good will, their soldiers are so incompetent that they don't even know basic battle drills, let a lone shoot a target at 100 meters, but you just can't blame them, the battalions are full of ghost soldiers, and you literally have to fend for yourself for food and water, because the generals are stealing everything, it's actually easier to go to Kivu province (Eastern D.R.C) from Mombasa port in Kenya than from Kinsasha, their is a colonial railway which was actually built to transport natural resources but it seems reviving it isn't a priority for them, in fact exploiting their natural resources isn't their priority because the government officials have invented a lot redundant licences and red tapes for rent seeking in the mining sector, never in my life have I ever seen natural resources being packed in sacks and sold in the market like potatoes.
honestly, once you get their you just feel like picking a shovel and joining the Rwandans because those people don't deserve independence.

Does everybody understand that diamonds are not rare. The value of diamonds is manipulated by DeBeers and others by artificially creating scarcity by controlling the release of diamonds to the market. This means that thinking in terms of percentages is short sighted because the diamond market can be manipulated, rather negotiate a set annual fee with De Beers independent of market forces. Overall though good to see an African leader playing open cards and negotiating on behalf of the country for the betterment of the country rather than kow towing to large multinationals and their governments.

De Beers are milking Botswana of it's resources, there is no meaningful partnership here.
It's better to engage African companies not exploiters like De Beers

Botswana has a population of 2,7 million people. Pretoria has a population of 2,5 million people, Joburg has a population of 5,7 million people, Soweto has a population of 2 million people. The total population of Botswana is nearly equal to the number of people in Pretoria.

@@emkayemkay3624You are ignorant. Go back to school or Google the things you don't know. How are you on TH-cam yet you fail to google something when someone says something you are unsure about. The population of Botswana is slightly more than the population of Soweto and is almost the same size as the population of Pretoria. There are 5 million Batswana in South Africa which means that South Africa has twice the number of Tswana people than the country of Tswana people called Botswana but in your profile you look like you are West African so I don't blame your response. I don't expect you to know this.

@@emkayemkay3624 You must go back to school but it okay.... here what google has to say, Google : are there more Tswana people in SA than Botswana?
Answer: Yes, there are more Tswana people in South Africa than in Botswana. The Tswana population in South Africa is estimated to be around 5 million, while in Botswana, it’s approximately 2 million and also Lesotho and Swaziland
MAN BEFORE YOU COMMENT ON TH-cam DO YOUR RESEARCH
SA total population 60Million+ people Botswana on 2million+

So I fail to understand how Botswana's population concerned you cause the Tswanas in Botswana actually make more than all the Tswanas in SA combined in terms of GDP.. Read a book, Google it whatever floats your boat

Old news. The agreement was signed last year, giving BW 50% sales share. Result? P30 billion more was collected in taxes than ever before.
