You are absolutely right Jane ! For some unknown reason everyone seems to dwell on the last year or so of his life instead of all the years before when he was on stage just knocking em dead !! He was human just like the rest of us, and JUST like the rest of us he had his demons !! Who the hell are we to judge ?! Even when he knew his looks were failing him he still walked out on that stage, giving his all to the fans. He knew we loved him no matter what and we would never judge him. It is because of that rare one on one relation he had with all of us fans that makes him just as popular today as he was forty years ago. Everyone needs to just be thankful that we got to experience first hand the man who gave the world an entertainment experience unlike anything that had ever been seen before or since !!
Well said, but his talent and beautiful voice lasted til the end of his life, not just in his younger and best years, even when sick, Elvis was one of few who was a never has-been( don't like that term , it's cruel, because ii n the game hours of life, fame is only 15 minutes long for most celebs). sandy I think if you read more about our wonderful Elvis, you might see where Priscilla was and still is fake. Elvis was fooled and many of his fans can't stand her, I for one. I really can't bear to listen to her interviews, or listen to her talk at all, --try the watching dancing with the stars!!! whether I was the cause or Elvis himself was or both, lets just say both, I don't believe I could of went on to be such a drama queen, live off his name, after all her own affairs, and live ins, ---she was another one of his hanger ons. he just realized it all to late. hugging Ginger at the funeral and saying " I know how much Elvis loved you" !!! I give Ginger a lot of credit for just accepting that--but truth has it that wasn't sincere!!! I believe he was vulnerable, at the time he met Priscilla and perhaps he thought he could raise her up the way he wanted. the books I've read keep reminding me that that is what he said. you can believe you were in love--at certain time of your life. in the 50's and 60's-whatever he was up to , where he was (starting his career--then in the army) he was grieving his mother in germany. when he got married, supposedly he said it all happened so fast he didn't even realize what was happening. a lot of his life he must of felt this way. take a look at his life, from when he was such an outcast when he was little, and realized they were so poor, -you love the life you lead, whether that is a good life or not, it's your life, and I'm sure when he lost his mother, he was terribly moaning. she was his connection to Jesse too. she is the one who talked to him about Jesse, --not his dad so much or neighbors for sure, or friends or cousins. they knew of Jesse but they didn't have heartfelt talks with him about Jesse, as a rule. if they diid, then someone, or someones have kept it private, as it should be. Billy (his cousin-who lived in graceland , actully Billy's family, mom and dad, followed the presleys from Tupelo to memphis) was there for Elvis and with him to the end. eventually Billy and his wife and family lived there at graceland, --whether that was in the actual mansion-or I'm thinking elvis had a place for them right there on the grounds.? I'm not sure. but Billy claims it was control, and ego, and i believe it was so present on his mind that he failed (that's what he felt) at marriage. people who recorded with him in later years said he never past an opportunity to sing out his regrets. he always put himself into the lyrics and made them come alive. sure a lot of his songs after his divorce was about his life, and seemed it was telling her "oh see how I regret failing at this"--and realizing because of that, his daughter was in California with another man in her life as a substitute daddy 24/7. looking at a situation that went south, so to speak , how could you fix it. is it possible. you tend to forget all the real reasons it never worked. and I think Elvis stated that now she was grown, at least in his eyes. did she act mature, ? -has she ever? does she now/ that's another matter of opinion. everything about Elvis' life happened rather intense, and often fast. was it fast to him---the pain of rejection growing up, the memories of being so dirt poor. You are absolutely right Jane ! For some unknown reason everyone seems to dwell on the last year or so of his life instead of all the years before when he was on stage just knocking em dead !! He was human just like the rest of us, and JUST like the rest of us he had his demons !! Who the hell are we to judge ?! Even when he knew his looks were failing him he still walked out on that stage, giving his all to the fans. He knew we loved him no matter what and we would never judge him. It is because of that rare one on one relation he had with all of us fans that makes him just as popular today as he was forty years ago. Everyone needs to just be thankful that we got to experience first hand the man who gave the world an entertainment experience unlike anything that had ever been seen before or since !!

Well said, but his talent and beautiful voice lasted til the end of his life, not just in his younger and best years, even when sick, Elvis was one of few who was a never has-been( don't like that term , it's cruel, because ii n the game hours of life, fame is only 15 minutes long for most celebs). sandy I think if you read more about our wonderful Elvis, you might see where Priscilla was and still is fake. Elvis was fooled and many of his fans can't stand her, I for one. I really can't bear to listen to her interviews, or listen to her talk at all, --try the watching dancing with the stars!!! whether I was the cause or Elvis himself was or both, lets just say both, I don't believe I could of went on to be such a drama queen, live off his name, after all her own affairs, and live ins, ---she was another one of his hanger ons. he just realized it all to late. hugging Ginger at the funeral and saying " I know how much Elvis loved you" !!! I give Ginger a lot of credit for just accepting that--but truth has it that wasn't sincere!!! I believe he was vulnerable, at the time he met Priscilla and perhaps he thought he could raise her up the way he wanted. the books I've read keep reminding me that that is what he said. you can believe you were in love--at certain time of your life. in the 50's and 60's-whatever he was up to , where he was (starting his career--then in the army) he was grieving his mother in germany. when he got married, supposedly he said it all happened so fast he didn't even realize what was happening. a lot of his life he must of felt this way. take a look at his life, from when he was such an outcast when he was little, and realized they were so poor, -you love the life you lead, whether that is a good life or not, it's your life, and I'm sure when he lost his mother, he was terribly moaning. she was his connection to Jesse too. she is the one who talked to him about Jesse, --not his dad so much or neighbors for sure, or friends or cousins. they knew of Jesse but they didn't have heartfelt talks with him about Jesse, as a rule. if they diid, then someone, or someones have kept it private, as it should be. Billy (his cousin-who lived in graceland , actully Billy's family, mom and dad, followed the presleys from Tupelo to memphis) was there for Elvis and with him to the end. eventually Billy and his wife and family lived there at graceland, --whether that was in the actual mansion-or I'm thinking elvis had a place for them right there on the grounds.? I'm not sure. but Billy claims it was control, and ego, and i believe it was so present on his mind that he failed (that's what he felt) at marriage. people who recorded with him in later years said he never past an opportunity to sing out his regrets. he always put himself into the lyrics and made them come alive. sure a lot of his songs after his divorce was about his life, and seemed it was telling her "oh see how I regret failing at this"--and realizing because of that, his daughter was in California with another man in her life as a substitute daddy 24/7. looking at a situation that went south, so to speak , how could you fix it. is it possible. you tend to forget all the real reasons it never worked. and I think Elvis stated that now she was grown, at least in his eyes. did she act mature, ? -has she ever? does she now/ that's another matter of opinion. everything about Elvis' life happened rather intense, and often fast. was it fast to him---the pain of rejection growing up, the memories of being so dirt poor. I don't think some of that living seemed fast to Elvis. real deep pain that never really went away. who knows what was on his mind, or in his heart. he seemed complicated, from everything I read. even the mafia when interviewed about life with Elvis claim he was mr. macho man. he had a lot of reasons to feel just that. the world saw the marriage broke up. and if he cared about lisa it was the time to let it be know. had priscilla stayed? it wouldn't of been helping Elvis that's for sure, cause she had her sights, not just on mike stone, but also on a musician there in memphis and her dance instructor, and who knows who else. yeah, she wanted to live her own life, she had a lot going on. where was Lisa when she was out starting her own life? ever wonder about that? Lisa herself says the cooks and maids were watching her at graceland. being a new husband, a father, and trying to mesh the boys of his circle with his family life,---I think he tried cause he thought it might work, but his pals said, "we thought you wanted this all along" FOR PRICILLA TO leave--for there to be an end to marriage, somehow,--but his comment was, "not this way, not leaving me for another man" ---he couldn't figure out what else he could give her that would of had her not go the paths, PATHS---PLURAL PASTHS, THAT SHE HAD TAKEN. FUN---MOST LIKELY--to her, a lot more fun than being married to Elvis presley. something he couldn't wrap his mind around. was she any more beautiful than all the trillion of girls that would died for the chance of being his wife for just a moment.? no, she wasn't and a lot of women who knew him were SINCERE-----he figured that out all by himself. Mr., Songman----the world was watching, was marriage something that this caring man just threw aside? no it wasn't, and one of his 'boys' asked him,"then you're gonna change?" Elvis said "no I'm not changing for anyone" not for anyone he had met to that point. she lived with him, at times separate lives. He knew his mother knew him, he thought maybe Priscilla knew him somewhat. that meant something to him. but then the last year and a half he was alive, he wondered who knew him, --who knew him like his mother knew him. no one. and Lisa never had the chance, but --she loved what she knew and she would of never left him. I know that in my heart, I believe in Elvis and I won't let thoughts that he felt so desperate that Prissy left, --no love like that can come and go, but his mothers love did not, and lisa's did not either.he did not love the teenager he met in germany any more than he loved Dixie in memphis, or Juan , or Anita --his loves from the south. southerners who understood the southern culture, and knew him before he was real famous. I think he often thought of them, --because I think he often thought of when life was simpler, and if someone cared about you, --THEY CARED ABOUT Y O U! I THINK THAT WAS WHERE HE WAS COMING FROM --ALL HIS LIFE.who loved the giver and not just the gifts. and------he figured that out. so how else was he to get Lisa back with him? what other plan would work? why didn't he push for custody? with his travels, touring, movies, songs, and all that entailed his life , how could he win any custody battle? but when she came -she stayed for months, don't ask where exactly I read it, but I did. and that stuck with me. lets see, why didn't Priscilla fight that,? control that/ ? those are good questions, I know, it was because she was such a caring loving person? not! not! not!
