  • Well, crap! While working on grading out these ditches I lost a bucket tooth on the Kubota U55 and couldn't get a quick and easy replacement so I called the client and he let me borrow his Takeuchi TB235-2 to get the job done!

    You can specify the TAG bucket with an appropriate tooth spacing for the thumb. Whoever spec'd and ordered that machine didn't do it right. They have different tooth options to suit the different thumbs.

    Takeuchi skidsteers are very nice. You might ask the dealership if you can demo one and see how you like it. I'd go with Takeuchi over any other brand if I was going to buy a skidsteer or mini excavator. 👍

      Yeah they definitely make quality equipment, if I buy another skid steer its between Tak and Deere at the moment!

    Good job brother. Sounds like you need to trade the Kubota in for a Takeuchi

      Thanks Jeff! Maybe, there are things I like about both machines for sure! If the Takeuchi TB 260 came in a reduced or zero tail swing I'd be all over that! That's one thing I just love about the Kubota U55 that I don't have to worry about the tail swinging around and hitting anything!

    You’ll be getting a Takeuchi in no time 😁 The TB240 and TB260 has the thumb control on the right stick and in the direction you want. They also come standard with dual auxiliary hydraulics. The 260 is a comparable size to your kubota I think it weighs around 12,700lb and it’s 49.5 horsepower

    • @idigit4967
      @idigit4967  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah if I can afford one LOL! 😜 But for real this is a great machine, I would be super interested in a 260 if it was reduced or zero tail swing, I like that feature on my U55 because I can get into tight areas and not have to worry about swinging into stuff but I have little doubt that the 260 will outperform the U55. It specs out better in almost every category.

      What's up with the thumb control on the left?? You get used to it but that would throw me off

      @@idigit4967 I've been waiting on a Takeuchi TB 240, renting a TB 230 in the meantime. Amazing how the TB 230 at 6400 pounds keeps up or surpasses the John Deere 35G zero tail swing in breakout force, and lift capacity. Huge performance loss with the zero tail swing, but it's definitley safer around houses, trees, cars. Where we work, you pay big fines if you damage a tree. I can pickup a Sany 35U this week or wait 4-6 months and keep throwing away rental money in the meantime. Do you think the Takeuchi is that much better than a Sany 35 or 50 U?

    Some equipment maintenance tips. I live rurally and own 5 tractors, 2 Kioti, 2 MF and a Ford 8N plus a diesel F350 flatbed dump truck. I have a mobile mechanic to take care of my stuff. He "requires" his customers to stock needed maintenance parts - filter, fluids and such so he doesn't have to chase all over the county hunting for what you need. He used to try to keep a notebook with all parts #'s but it became too much so he shifted teh burden to the equip owners. He asks for 2 sets of everything and reorders placed when the 2nd set is used, NOT at the next service point. He wants it in stock when he drives up. And if you buy cheap stuff, he won't use it. Don't "price buy", buy good quality everything. Regular maintenance with quality parts and fluids is what keeps equipment operable for years. If he has to go get parts or fluids, he up-charges from his normal hourly rate. Care of your equipment in=s on YOUR shoulders. My excavation buddy has 2 Kubota track hoes. In addn to the above, he carries extra bucket teeth, extra pins and the right tools on his trucks to effect repairs in the field. He saves hours in down time. He buys 2 sets of each shape teeth he uses, He'll buy the locally or online but tries never to buy from a dealer. Too expensive esp if it has their logo on it. My mobile mechanic feels and does the same.- locally or online. We are fortunate to have an independent parts supplier one town over where we can get most of what we need. Be a boy scout, be prepared for what regularly occurs or is needed. My excavator buddy even carries a spare hydraulic hose and fittings that he seems to bust loose regularly. You get the idea. There are exceptions and circumstances that may alter this, but as a practice, let me assure you, you'll be money and time ahead.

      Just like the Logger’s big mechanic’s service truck that follows the circus around. Keeping loaders, skidders, fellers, bulldozers, etc. all cranking up every morning. Hats off to those guys.

    If i would get the money and start my own business like what you do I'd go with deer or Cat just because I'd want to stay with american made equipment not that there's anything wrong with other brands I'd just like to stay with american brands

    • @idigit4967
      @idigit4967  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No argument from me, though the Deere mini excavators are actually Hitachi's that are just painted a different color and slapped with a Deere logo on them!

    • @kirkpalmer1709
      @kirkpalmer1709 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think there are any American made mini excavators. Deere and Cats are Japanese too. Bobcat is made in Korea I think. Even a lot of the Cat dozers going back to at least the 1980's were made in Japan.
