THE FIRE KEEPS BURNING
“How can you govern a state or a nation if you do not listen to the majority," Davao City Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte emphasized with much passion before the cheering crowd.
On Monday night, we saw the younger version of Former President Rodrigo Duterte in denim jeans and shirt.
The success of ‘Hakbang ng Maisug: Defend the Flag, Freedom Concert and Peace Rally in Angeles City, Pampanga on June 17, 2024 was yet another testament how the fire that others repeatedly tried to extinguish remains alive and keeps on burning.
One of its highlights was the chance for the representatives of the marginalized sectors to speak on stage - and bring to light some important regional crises that our countrymen all over the world need to know.
Our Aeta brethren were also present during the peace rally. And so were the fishermen who shared their stories regarding their Ayungin Shoal
experience.
Although he was not able to join the event physically, FPRRD gave his video greeting and inspiring message to everyone.
Other familiar 'Maisug' personalities also shared their thoughts on stage. For the very first time, nobody tried to stop this Maisug rally. The Kapampangan crowd was also high-spirited and full of energy. All in all, the event was a big success.
