Kenneth Branagh the director of Thor is a huge fan of the classics and he went back to the Sagas in order to put some kind of background on the Prince of Asgard. He also discovered something that a lot of the comic book and movie fans don’t know. Freya is not Thor’s mother; she raised him but she didn’t give birth to him. She in fact helped Odin negotiate the deal with his real mother, Jörð, the Norse goddess of nature. More commonly known as Gaia, the Mother Titan. Gaia, throughout the classics, has a sweet spot for her children. She doesn’t like them being hurt and would often directly intervene to help restore, heal or empower them in battle. Apparently, she has a soft spot for Thor. In normal circumstances on Asgard or any of the nine realms, he can summon lightning, this even cause the clouds to change to facilitate the lightning. On earth, he can summon storms, cyclones, even Hurricanes if he wants too. Why? Because he’s a mummy’s boy to 2 mothers! Look at the surprise on his face when the lightning bolt hit! It’s not a regular bolt! This is something Zeus would have wielded. How many heroes do you know can use a cyclone as a hand weapon? Who suddenly develops the power to defeat their dad’s most powerful creation, which also happens to be made of the exact same metal as your hammer, Uru? Odin wasn’t the only higher being on Thor side that day!
@@JamailvanWestering According to the comix, Odin shagged everything with pulse. He made Zeus look like he wasn't even trying. Norse girls used to pray that Thor would drop by for a staggering amount of ale and even more nookie.
I still think the first Thor movie was the most important one in the entire MCU storyline. If they couldn't make cosmic Marvel work on the big screen, then the whole Infinity saga was in jeopardy.
Thor was one of my favorite comic book characters growing up and my least favorite conversion to movies. Iron Man was by a long way my favorite. Thor in the comic books, (and indeed all the Norse Gods) were so much more joyful and fun, not moribund in morality, as they are in the movies. The fun was that they ended up being virtuous almost by accident. Their hedonism never ended up mattering. It was I guess too male, for modern times, but hopefully in the future it can be socially acceptable for male characters look like they are actually enjoying life.
I thought he wasn't the "God of Hammers" (RE Ragnorok). How can anyone "who is worthy posses the power of Thor"? I'm on Loki's side here. He has a tough job... He's trying to beat the corny out of the MCU... But the corny hammer keeps coming back and giving it more corny power. 🤷

Well comic wise Freya is still his stepmother, Odin had a relationship with Phoenix

People failed to notice how carefull Thor became with others, as he fought the golen in the sky to preserve the town
_"By the power of Greyskull...!"_
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
And then he never used this power to control weather ever again...
Thor definitely changed the weather in the first Avengers film, more than once.
He doesn’t want to do paper work
in Thor 2 he made it rain and protected jane from it as she walked to him
You know nothing than
and with this movie, norway needs a statue of chris hemsworth like scotland has one of mel gibson 😀
Sif´s smile gives me years of life! Sorry, Jane, but it´s her...

@13:17 I think it was more like Loki knew it wouldn't kill him, or at least that Odin wouldn't allow him to be dead for long if it did.....
The Hammer is semi-sentient it knows who’s worthy
Awesome sequence
If only the DCU could prove they are worthy
...and then they would get a hammer...?
No way people are still fans of the MCU current times pass its prime let it go
Nay,fellow thespian, they must prove their worthiness to yawn audience,or we must thrash their sour purses. So Say We all.

I felt a bit sad that I know nearly all of these people….
listen for the crack as his neck snapped
u r worthy
I love Loki from the movies, but you have to admit in this one he's a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum
But why does Thor cry over Deadpool?
No, seriously, whyyyyyyyyyyyy???
We´ll never know. Like we never knew how Davies survived Aida´s atttack...
