I found the part about the titles so important! No one cares about “my skincare routine” unless you have millions of followers, but “7 skincare products you must try” is a way better idea :)

I started my Blog one year ago and I am at 9200 page views right now with 157 posts. I really appreciate the honesty that you arguing out in this post. You are right on point for sure. The difficulty of making a blog is much bigger than most people understand but if you stick with it and have patience you can grow. I did like you said a year ago and started pushing on Pinterest even though my niche is not The best kind of niche for that platform I did it anyway just to give me my first thousand or so Pedro is in the more page views I got the last time I spent on Pinterest and let google SEO take over. I am a little disappointed that I am not further along but I am setting goals for the second year and I think it’s going to be a good one. By the way in case anyone is curious yes I am making money from my blog now mostly from Amazon sales and Google AdSense. I could apply for a better advertising platform but I have chosen to just continue working on content for now because that is the most important. I have a question for you. Did you do any back linking on purpose or did you just write your blog and let the back links happen naturally? I feel like a lot of my posts should be number one on Google and they are not because I have very few good back links after one year.

I finally made the jump to start a blog/website! I watched your video a few weeks ago & finally did it! I'm not 100% sure where it will go or end up since it's going to encompass a lot right now (grad student life, small business, blog posts, and linking to my Etsy shop where I sell jewelry) but at least I've started!

So true Sophia about your posts needing to benefit the reader, your TH-cam videos need to benefit the viewer. Once you get to be like Pewdiepie, Mr. Beast, etc. They can pretty much put out any video and tons of people will watch it regardless of the content. I have been at this for a super long time, my general how-to cooking videos always outperform any of my more personal about my life kinds of videos, or my live chat videos I do. Also, it is how you word the title and description of your post like you were saying. "my skincare routine" isn't really searchable as much as someone on google searching for the term "Best skin routine for healthier skin" or something like that, I don't really know much about skincare routines...lol
That is probably cause your audience is attached to your cooking and cooking style rather than you as a person. People have to be attached to a personality for the life update type videos to work.
