    Taylor Ogan lives in China. David Rennie, the long-time "Economists" reporter, also lives in China. But to hear them talk about China's economy, they are describing two different countries. The reason is simple. As the staunch China-smearing Anglo-Saxon reporter still resident in China, David Rennie also assumed the role of spearheading the Chinese Colour-Revolution project for the CIA. Taylor Ogan is an investment fund manager without the political burden, looking at evidence, trends and figures. Look forward to Steve Hsu's on the ground report from China. Perhaps Steve should go talk to David Rennie and NY Times reporters still living in China, discuss how they see the status of colour-revolution in China.

      David Rennie is paid to do his worst in denigrating China. He is paid from Biden's bounty.

    It is so encouraging to know there are some Americans who want to build bridges with China, versus crossing swords as the political class in Washington frames the debate. Taylor is representative of the good side of America - work, compete, cooperate, peace... Lets hope the upcoming generations in the US follows his trail blazing...

    Absolute fabulous conversation from a very enthusiastic and smart American entrepreneur.
    opportunities abound in this world for those who open their minds and hearts.
    What a stark contrast between people like Taylor and the fear-mongers and war-mongers from the US ruling elites, who are narrow-minded, selfish, manipulative and intoxicated with their ill-gotten hegemonic power.
    Best of luck, Taylor, and continued success in China. Sounds like you’re having the time of your life there.

    Fantastic episode. I would dispute Taylor's implicit characterization of Shenzhen as its own bubble distinct from China. Shenzhen's just ahead of the curve - what Shenzhen looks like today is what all of China will look like in 5-10 years.

    Fascinating discussion. I've looked at their website but there's no provision for prospective investors.
    Being a hedge fund, I suspect their minimum buy-in level would be fairly high. Do they work with selected stockbrokers?

    re Huang Yasheng: I don't think Chinese mind him criticizing CN or Chinese, people do mind when his "criticism" is unfounded. He belongs to the older generations of Chinese who left CN at a time when CN was dirt poor and Chinese were looking up to the US/West for hope, and he hasn't been able to fathom/catch up with the change/accomplishments in CN. Doomsayers like Huang or Gordon Chang are laughing stocks to Chinese.
    Chinese from those generations are the same type as the Korean friend you talked to many years ago and the Chinese Taylor talked to: they have no confidence/faith in China/Chinese/Chinese culture.
    There is also a subconscious need for people who left China to insist on CN not being as good and their choice to leave CN/stay in the US is the right one.
    The younger generations of Chinese born in 1990s onwards are much more proud and confident, they tend to be more patriotic too.
    Many people Western MSMs/thinktanks talk to are cynical due to various reasons, ppl like Huang probably already lost touch with the "basic supporters" of CN gov (who are the vast majority of Chinese) as they only talk to ppl who are "elites" who tend to be more calculative and selfish.

      I only heard that Hsu once and only a scrap bc he sounds biting and biased. You have to the cognitive smellers to get the sad facts of their sad double lives and denial of their real existence. Anyway I he has extremely poor linguistic ability. For someone who haslived and studied so many years in the US he should be speaking better English. Hence, I don't think he has any public credentials in the USA. He's a sponsored.

    A large chunk of fossil fuel imports in China goes to fuel for ICE vehicles in China. So switching to EVs is a logical choice for the govt. which is what is happening. What this will do is to switch the fossil fuel to industry. An example of good planning.

    Hi, my name is Milife Copehard from BBC, I have a question for Taylor: 'but at what cost?'

    • @manishdhawan551
      @manishdhawan551 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Mr Copehard greetings from china .at what cost is a double edged sword . It cuts both ways my friend .in 2019 75% of all low cost manufactured products your daily use came from china . In 2025 75% of super high tech products you will use will come from china.Humungus Changes happen here in half a generation. . Things change literally in a blink of an eye. Hard for leisurely Europeans to grasp. Hence it feels overwhelming and impossible to you sir

      You seem to imply that since changes are "tough", hence China or for that matter the emerging world should stop developing since that process means some sacrifice by the people is required??

    • @manishdhawan551
      @manishdhawan551 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      UK should stop asking at what cost. Because UK has empty coffers . Europe has become a third world country in infrastructure

    • @sword7872
      @sword7872 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends - how he interprets cost will differ from how you interpret it.
      He seems to be pretty happy with all of the new experiences he has gained listening to him, in my opinion.
      Whatever is cost to you may be gain to him.

    The Hong Kong shares and the ADRs should be convertible, even if the ADRs get delisted you should be able to convert to hk.
    Also i think the hong kong shares still have the VIE structure, it's the same thing.

    China people have a personality of non interference.you might pass a china person and he wouldn't say hi to you. Seeming cold and distant. But if you nod your head and say hi you will open flood gates of curious questions and warmth . Prying people for information is a taboo. Hence they are amazed how foreigners are courageous to ask the more intimate questions and get answers .the Chinese only know how to keep their head down and work . Work and family two priorities of china people

    So at the moment we are surprised and offended by the Chinese being better than the Americans or the Russians at certain technologies that all three Nations know. There will come a time, maybe only a few decades away, when the Chinese (or the North Koreans) are so far ahead in engineering, that they will have stuff that the Americans and the Russians simply haven't even started on (maybe Metal-Air batteries, MMI's or Embryo Selection). In that case it will be like the British meeting the Solomon Islanders - only the Americans and the Russians will be the Solomon Islanders, and the Chinese (more likely the North Koreans) will be the British.
