I've been an All Black supporter for 55 yrs. We have the utmost respect for Ireland. They are an absolute force to be reckoned with. Ireland rugby is consistently excellent. The All Black team is ready because they've had 2 hit outs including a massive one at Twickenham. Ireland is a step up from England in my opinion. These days we don't expect to win but we know we can win. I love Irish rugby and love to see them succeed. I'm looking forward to two World Class teams going at it in front of an amazing Irish crowd. Biggest game on the planet this week. Much love to Ireland from NZ.
@firmfoundation7421 Nonsense. We always expect to win. Always. It's in our rugby dna. I mean, the Home Unions have only won 16 tests versus the ABs from a combined total played of 152. SIXTEEN. To be fair, Ireland has always been there or thereabouts. It just took a bit of Kiwi, Saffa, & Aussie, to help get them there. Good on them.
“Your players have to get up for the New Zealand game, there's no two ways about it. There has to be fear in the back of your mind there that they will explode into action at some stage, and all the stuff they're trying and maybe not pulling off at the moment, it's going to click, and don't be the team that it clicks against.” This is true. I feel the click is coming.
Nz point of view we’ve been waiting over 100 years for Ireland to come to the big boy table finally but don’t get it twisted All Blacks vs South Africa are the biggest game no matter what’s on the line JS
Im thinking the All Blacks are for me the favorites for this match 😮. They have been playing together, they may have played their bad game, and they do create a lot of opportunities. If they play with discipline and dont drop ball they could do this and well. But Ireland are a very very good side
Thanks for that great technical run through of that drop goal play. That being said with the scrum going backwards and that an defence coming hard and pushing them back would there ever have been a good spot for a drop goal? Great podcast too! Setiti played most of his school boy rugby at center.
Comparing a test match to a high-pressure RWC match is a madness. But every 10 misses kicks due to pressure or not. If they didn't, they'd be at 100% kicking rate.
Let's not forget Roigard was blazing towards Ford, with a couple of other ABs behind him. He simply got a hospital pass and then wasn't given the time to do a proper kick. Hardly his fault he missed, it's a team game. Fault lies with everyone.
Without doubt, the guy plays like an extra centre half the time, positionally speaking, gives us an extra man in many situations. Nash has his skills but operates like a traditional winger.
Some Kiwis saying the Irish have replaced the Springboks as the All Blacks' main opposition is nice, but a load of bollocks! Irish rugby has a long history, but it is still new at the top levels. As the saying goes, "one night in a teepee doesn't make you an Indian." As much as one can respect Ireland's recent success, they must knock over the All Blacks consistently for another century to truly replace the Springboks! Our battles with Boks are beyond legend. My favourite rugby team of all time is the 1965 Springboks! It is so traumatising that it doesn't even make sense. Kiwis supporting the Boks and vice versa is confusing; it's the classic love-hate thing. Some Kiwis even name their kids after their favourite Springbok players - like current ABs15 captain Du Plessis Kirifi! As exciting as this weekend’s match is against a tough Irish team, smashing the Springboks will always be our top achievement!
Irish fan here - I think NZ will just sneak it. Game time under the belt and some classy runners - Tele'a could skin us on the wings. Hopefully I am wrong.
No Baudy reduces their attack a lot, sure their backline is world class and they will score tries but Ireland are marginally superior in every other area of the pitch. Add the difference in the replacements, home advantage and desire to get revenge for the QF and I'm feeling the game is 80/20 in our favour.
can't pick the winner from this one, haven't been able to for the last few years tbh, and i'm a hard AB's supporter . .but one thing will be sure it will be hard fought , and the winner will be deservedly so . .c'mon the AB's!
That’s their gameplan and has been since forever, to rely on timid referees who won’t penalise them. Cynical defence, lazy runners, flop over the rucks, then look astonished if the whistle blows.
What did we learn from the All Black and England game. The referee can be manipulated and this All Black team is still rebuilding with a shorage of x factor players, not the same quality of 20 years ago.
England fan expecting an Irish win. Not a lot between the teams so home advantage should be the key. Did feel like England that Ireland should off played a warm up game.
3rd why are you still banging on about the aura? Nobody in the South ever talks about it. Sounds to me like Ireland are waking up from a 100 yr submissive fantasy and blaming the dominatrix! There was only the aura that you and other northern teams bestowed on them If the aura is gone it's not because the AB's lost it's because you've finally grown out of your self imposed inferiority complex. Hallelujah! Ireland favourites for this and deservedly so. Bring it on and may the best team win!
Is their a A team for ab really well they were very lucky to win against England to think England only score one try compare to ab three tries and England almost won shit ab are shit and u think they are good u still living in past Ireland plays better rugby than AB
As an Ireland fan pains me to say it but we could beat All Blacks by 50 points on Friday night + what would it matter / they beat us in the only two games of real consequence in recent years, namely RWC QFs in 2019 + 2023. Remove the ill discipline and the abs won by a land slide. But alas that was not how the game went. If abs click they take ireland easy, if they dont they lose, its close at the top.

George Ford missed the penalty because of pressure. Both Jordie Barrett and Ritchie missed kicks in the RWC. That’s what pressure does.
1000% pressure can do crazy things to the best of them
Marcus Smith shanked 2 drop kicks in the same game. Can't pin the loss on Ford, it just happens.
