My older friend married a man who, when she met him he had 3 jobs. He is now down to 1 job. He feels since he married her---a nurse practicioner making great money, he doesnt need to work as hard. I am willing to bet he will stop working the main job soon.
I know a lawyer who was just starting out, and married her personal trainer. He started taking it easy and then quit working altogether. They had two kids. He holed up in the bedroom watching porn. Then he cheated on her and they divorced. She had to pay child support. The female judge was gaga over him, and she had to fight not to pay spousal support after their short marriage.

And my husband contempt with $18hr and want to climb up the rank. We're already 30! I don't want to stop getting my bachelor's but I don't think I will apply to high earning job once I get it. I will just say I wanted to accomplish my dream of a having a bachelor's, but I'm happy making $400 a week.

I wss married to a gold digger when I was in my twenties. I didn't have much "gold", but he had me paying for our meals out, his bowling leagues, and even Christmas presents for his girlfriend. The few times when he did work, he didn't even attempt to be any kind of provider for me. He had it so easy. We lived in his parents' basement for the duration of our five year marriage. He had no desire for us to live in a place of our own. One of the worst things he did was steal what little money I had friom my recent paycheck that t had just deposited in our joint bank account. An account he wasn't contributing to due to the fact that he rarely worked while we were married.

I think the issue is that some _don't,_ though.
Many are less educated, some have negative records- law and/or work, some aren't citizens and/or have language barriers, etc. Women need to understand that is _perfectly fine_ to mate solely with those who are equally yoked, and who match [or ideally elevate] their value.

I met a man over one of those dating sites and we agreed to meet at a public coffee place.
I came first and ordered my coffee paid for it myself, etc. When he showed up, he didn’t even spend money on himself, he didn’t order coffee, even water and he was complaining that the grocery store that he was trying to buy water on had gone up in price.
I shouldn’t of even spent one minute on him. I actually spent 30 minutes or more listening to him, but then I thought I had to make a reason to leave. I’m being too kind and wasting my valuable time, and that week I was working well over 40 hours a week.

Exactly! I even had to tell a man that i'm not looking for a wife! LAME. Of course i dumped him very shortly after. I had an honest look at my life a few years back, to try and sift out how I had to keep starting over after periods of doing so well. I traced EVERY SINGLE rebuild aftr I decided I needed a man to make life complete.
The thing is, I wasn't conscious of it all these years. Just by seeing it for myself, it was easy to drop that belief.
That was 8 years ago. I never looked back. And any man is the LAST thing I want whatsoever. Since then I've been able to become very proficient on a musical intstrument I had always wanted to learn. And finish 2 programs in studies I'd always thought would be a skill that would be fun to do. I'm not giving up all this now to be a maid and therapist for men, and their yelling fits.

And financial background check. There should be licensed, insured courtship escrow agents who investigate people’s finances and put them in categories. The specifics can be withheld until both sides consent.

Sometimes they can have their own car,Apt and job, but it’s not on the level of yours,so next thing you know he’ll be at your place constantly just ciphering all your resources.
I was briefly single during the pandemic. These single men were coming from all directions but they were all divorced, separated, multiple kids, out of work/looking for additional jobs, etc. I remember thinking at first that I was surprised that a 40 year old woman was getting this much attention. Looking back now, I was attractive, Christian, had multiple degrees, loved cooking, in-demand career, high salary, nice car, etc. And these men, some of which were significantly younger, were good looking but struggling in all the basic areas of life. By the second or third date, it was crystal clear what their overall goal was: stability first then easy access to everything else you have to offer.
I literally told one man that he sounded like he was going to be a HUGE energy and resource vacuum. He was offended by that comment but called several times trying to explain his point of view.

I think that desire and wanting to be taken care of interfere with real relationships from forming. When a man got some kind of problem or fix he's in is when he tries to get with a woman. Jacked up stuff like unemployed, married and wanting a side chick, homeless and wanting a place to stay beside a shelter, working but wanting to cut or eliminate his living expenses, in a poor country looking to marry his way into a better country and perhaps is the only way he can support his family in that poor country, and so on. It's something foul and messed up that he's looking to dump on somebody else instead of doing something about it on his own.
And accordingly, guys look for women with problems. Problems like lonely and low self-esteem, or undeveloped and still nervous and unable to carry herself firmly around the opposite sex and still like a teenage girl wanting to be romanced and swept off her feet by an imaginary knight in shining armor to take charge and make everything alright. Guys look for problems and imaginary foolishness to take advantage of bcuz it's the only way they can get in.
Which is why guys have nothing but bad things to say about women without problems. "You feminists don't have a man and are gonna die alone." I mentioned already in the comments that I had 4 male gold diggers. However, one of my best long term male friends would fit this category as a boyfriend/husband/father, but I have never and would never date him. He's a lot of fun, a true friend, and has many friends. He's not a gold digger. He's just happy with what little he has and doesn't want to work for more. So "low hanging fruit" aren't always bad people (but usually are if their plan is to use people). Just don't date them.

Here’s the reality. It’s not just about what someone is seeking in a relationship. It’s making sure you know what the person is seeking. We are all seeking something (love, companionship, provision, sex, etc.). But it’s when you think the person is with you for one reason (love) but they’re really with you for another (your money) that you set yourself up for hurt. Although I’ve never dated a gold digger man as a woman, if I met one, I wouldn’t give into his ways or I would dump him. If I stayed, holla we want prenup. There are always ways to safeguard yourself. In fact, I’m more worried about the man who starts off providing, marries me, then quits his job and thinks he’s gonna be a kept man.
