I want to start off with the fact that I never comment on videos, but this video struck a deep cord within me today and the me who once wanted to comment on this video but was too scared to write a message filled with a hope that wouldn’t last. For context, right now I am 18 and deeply in love with a man I met 5 years ago online; I found this video in our chats and remembered the many feelings I once felt when sending this video over 5 years ago. Seems ridiculous right? I was 13 and he was 14 and just like that we sped into a long distance relationship. I was madly in love with him, but soon after the distance and immaturity hit us. He became more distant, and more cold, but I kept fighting becuase I still loved him more than I even knew a 13 year old was capable of loving. It was a first love but 10x times more intense, one where you didn’t just love them for their face or looks, but their heart, and the soul you connected with. At the time, although the relationship was toxic, I needed him; I had no friends, so I fought for him through everything. I fought for a year and 2 weeks, but the unhealthy desperation I once felt, preventing me from leaving him went away shortly after I entered high school. With new friends and more maturity, I eventually couldn’t take it anymore, and the one sided nature of the relationship ended our love. Soon after, the desperation of loving and getting nothing in return for a year filled the love I once had into hate and anger. After I ended the relationship, one month later he contacted me again, but hatred and feelings I pushed deep inside from his past actions prevented me from feeling anything again. Instead of responding, I ignored the message and moved on with my life, unsure of if I would ever want to contact him or even feel the same way again. So, right now, we have a story of two children with an immature relationship that ended after a year, right? But now, here is where our story gets interesting. At 17, 4 years later, for reasons I can’t remember, I contacted him again on his birthday, wondering how he was. At the time I only planned for a friendship, but suddenly, when old feelings started seeping through, the anger I had also came back. I gave him hell for a week, but he fought through all the 4 year old pains and grudges I accumulated and still wanted me. Like two children once again, more immature than we were at 13 and 14, our love slowly rekindled, but this time slower, and more healthily. After 2 months he asked me to be his girlfriend for the second time which pleased me very much. Not without new hardships, we loved, we laughed, and we fought, but this time together. Close to our one year anniversary and through the painful period of telling our parents how we came to love someone a country and 800 miles away, the day came where we finally got to meet after 5 years. Now in the present this happened around 1 month ago, and let me tell you, meeting someone you have loved for so many years for the first time is the most precious, scary, happy, yet impossible feeling you could ever even attempt to convey in words. Luckily, he was accepted with open arms into my family for the week he was here, but sadly he had to go back. Now, here we are, back at the long distance, but this time stronger, happier, and ready to share a life together for real this time. For everyone reading this, I want you to know that if you love someone, with a true and pure love, no matter what happens, love always wins. Even if you are young, there is hope, and with true dedication, the only ones who can control where your relationship goes is you guys. So keep fighting, keep loving, and hopefully our story can help you, just like the comments that reassured me back then.

I want to start off with the fact that I never comment on videos, but this video struck a deep cord within me today and the me who once wanted to comment on this video but was too scared to write a message filled with a hope that wouldn’t last. For context, right now I am 18 and deeply in love with a man I met 5 years ago online; I found this video in our chats and remembered the many feelings I once felt when sending this video over 5 years ago. Seems ridiculous right? I was 13 and he was 14 and just like that we sped into a long distance relationship. I was madly in love with him, but soon after the distance and immaturity hit us. He became more distant, and more cold, but I kept fighting becuase I still loved him more than I even knew a 13 year old was capable of loving. It was a first love but 10x times more intense, one where you didn’t just love them for their face or looks, but their heart, and the soul you connected with. At the time, although the relationship was toxic, I needed him; I had no friends, so I fought for him through everything. I fought for a year and 2 weeks, but the unhealthy desperation I once felt, preventing me from leaving him went away shortly after I entered high school. With new friends and more maturity, I eventually couldn’t take it anymore, and the one sided nature of the relationship ended our love. Soon after, the desperation of loving and getting nothing in return for a year filled the love I once had into hate and anger. After I ended the relationship, one month later he contacted me again, but hatred and feelings I pushed deep inside from his past actions prevented me from feeling anything again. Instead of responding, I ignored the message and moved on with my life, unsure of if I would ever want to contact him or even feel the same way again. So, right now, we have a story of two children with an immature relationship that ended after a year, right? But now, here is where our story gets interesting. At 17, 4 years later, for reasons I can’t remember, I contacted him again on his birthday, wondering how he was. At the time I only planned for a friendship, but suddenly, when old feelings started seeping through, the anger I had also came back. I gave him hell for a week, but he fought through all the 4 year old pains and grudges I accumulated and still wanted me. Like two children once again, more immature than we were at 13 and 14, our love slowly rekindled, but this time slower, and more healthily. After 2 months he asked me to be his girlfriend for the second time which pleased me very much. Not without new hardships, we loved, we laughed, and we fought, but this time together. Close to our one year anniversary and through the painful period of telling our parents how we came to love someone a country and 800 miles away, the day came where we finally got to meet after 5 years. Now in the present this happened around 1 month ago, and let me tell you, meeting someone you have loved for so many years for the first time is the most precious, scary, happy, yet impossible feeling you could ever even attempt to convey in words. Luckily, he was accepted with open arms into my family for the week he was here, but sadly he had to go back. Now, here we are, back at the long distance, but this time stronger, happier, and ready to share a life together for real this time. For everyone reading this, I want you to know that if you love someone, with a true and pure love, no matter what happens, love always wins. Even if you are young, there is hope, and with true dedication, the only ones who can control where your relationship goes is you guys. So keep fighting, keep loving, and hopefully our story can help you, just like the comments that reassured me back then.
