- 1961年，丁永祥（黃日華飾）好賭而弄得全家一貧如洗，故妻子梅芬芳（藍潔瑛飾）在新春期間當扒手偷錢包。豈料錢包為一劫殺案的賊贓，芬芳被認定是疑兇而被捕，控以謀殺。雖然芬芳的辯護律師朱小山（鄭君綿飾）最後找到劫殺案真兇，但真兇已病死而無法出庭作證，而主控官馮世邦（岳華飾）認定芬芳為兇手，結果芬芳被判死刑。芬芳在獄中誕下次子丁有康後被問吊，丁永祥大受刺激因而瘋癲，遺下有健（幼年由李泳豪飾）、有康兩兄弟，被永祥的前僱主李全（胡楓飾）和葉秀雲（蘇杏璇飾）夫婦收養，除丁氏兄弟外，夫婦二人先前亦收養陳少玲及周志文兩名孤兒。不久李全突然中風身故，秀雲一家雖頓失經濟支柱，但秀雲仍含辛茹苦，堅持將四名養子養女撫養成人。
有康往靈堂拜祭秀雲，被有健阻止，二人大吵一輪。有健飽受打擊，因而忽略了火鍋店生意。楚君等亦大為諒解。美欣見有康因涉嫌與秀雲被殺之事有關，被國際刑警傳去問話，加上揭發當年有康與加敏的一段往事，對有康的言行大起疑心。華龍見火鍋店有利可圖，暗將其名下股份轉售另一火鍋店，並強要“君健”的名堂。有健無心爭鬥，只好順從其奸計。有康被帶上法庭，幾經盤問後，由於證據不足，不須接受引渡馬來西亞受審，令他如釋重負。志文不值有康的所為，決意辭職“佳美”，與他大吵一頓後，竟一時衝動一開信刀刺傷有康。

This shows that the prosecutor or the police are not interested in justice , but a win for the prosecutor and a "notch" for the arresting officer. What I got from the beginning was that she pickpocket someone who had previously pickpocket someone else and therefore was the murderer.
@@thomasjung6660 something like that, I think. I didn't watch in full. But this episode is really depressing. Ironically, I believe it can happen in real life too.
@@jerricamay881 it does. I've heard of instances where somebody spends twenty five years in jail only to be found innocent years later. Elliott Ngok plays a lot of parts in which he is despised

Keep watching sad but with life's lessons. Young people should watch this to learn that life is not a piece of cake unless your parents are wealthy
