Mahalo, thanks for building this up. So sorry that you had an issue with the bulge on the stem area with the welded in star nut. The welding on the star nut does sometimes take the material and expand it a bit with the heat bulge, but the chrome will make it worse. We have never had to cut an area off, usually a little tap of a rubber mallet gets the stem on , but it also depends on stem tolerance. And those Knight stems are precision!! Can't wait till you see the next round of 26" and 29"ers - Shoots Brah!

We still push for the dreaded triple chrome plate that the platers hate, copper nickle chrome, but I like it because it's shiny... as Todd Anderson used to say - BMX Chrome!! Glad you guys are fans! My Haro forks (internal threads) had a similar issue but I managed to beat it in to place. I wasn’t stoked about it, but I couldn’t find any other way.
Your excitement when the bottom bracket fit first try! Love it!! Haha, laughing about the caliper spindle measurement! The main reason I do that isn't to be exactly precise.. it's because (especially when installing a splined sprocket) things move and once you get some of the components on, it's hard to get it centered again sometimes. It's way easier with a non-splined sprocket. I think Bernie's got you covered here!
Just remember guys, especially you as a teacher Kevin, ignorance is NOT stupidity. Every "Uh-Oh" is a learning experience....so long as you learn! I'd keep the black to a bare minimum on this build...including the chainring bolts...and the bottom bracket. I know they make colored bottom brackets, too. And, yeah, those original stickers MUST go! Right now we don’t have that in the plan but I do want to come up to Oahu that weekend for the Bikefactory old school bike show on Saturday. I was even thinking of bringing the Skyway to enter but I’m not sure if it’s only for the older bikes. Thanks for the support man!! 🤙🏼
Another great looking build ! I’m a big fan of those candy bar, handlebars. I believe the first run of these where made by S&M , but they are still made in the USA now . Looking forward to seeing it completed !
The bottom bracket binding is probably caused by the spindle spacer being too wide, like Bernie mentioned. Also check the drive side cone/spacer that is sitting right next to the bearing. Many of those have an indented side, and if it's facing the wrong direction, it will press against the middle part of the bearing and cause binding. Also, the 24 to 19mm adapter should be on the frame side of the spider (the inside) - I'm sure you got that right but I couldn't tell in the video. Good luck!
The doubled up seat stay on the chromoly supercross frames looks awesome, definitely their best looking frames in my opinion. Those rant cranks are nice, did you get any creaking from the pinch bolt style 19mm cranks?
So far no creaking but the main bolt to the spindle did work its way loose and that had to be tightened. It’s always a good idea to check your bolts after a few rides as things may get loose. I might need some locktite on it. Thanks for the comment and for watching!! 🤙🏼
