    Still love the sound of those old two stroke Detroit diesels going down the road or winding up when there taking off

    Honestly a 70s 80s 90s firetruck is perfectly normal they usually have very little mileage and wear and tear. Only large municipalities buy new $200k $500k trucks every few years. Former Fire Lieutenant.

    I had the opportunity to visit the rigs at the station in Seattle as well as the Last Resort FD that Galen maintains. This is a real neat collection of fire apparatus and memoribilia. At Galen's museum, located just outside of the city, he has so many rigs parked in there that you have to walk sideways down the aisles. Great collection of fire apparatus. It is a must see if you are in Seattle. We were on our way back from our Alaska cruise and it is one trip that I will remember for a long while.

    4:54 You know a video is not 2022 when you see that gas is $2.59 a gallon.
    Also, you got to love that truck at 2:56 that started a left and backed up to make a right.

    Ya know. It fascinates me that with the sirens blaring and the flashing red/blue/yellow/orange lights,that people in their vehicles have the audacity to either ignore (most drivers are deaf & blind), or have the nerve to make left or right turns, knowing full-well there is emergency response crews right behind them.
    P.S. Is there any Fire Department that has...Orange fire trucks!? Bright Green? Pink? Purple? Stealth Black? Neon blue? Red-White-Blue?

    • @haydenparker5703
      @haydenparker5703 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Alexander William ZALESKI Wheeling WV has orange. Boothsville WV has a sky blue. And i've seen pink ones for breast cancer before

    • @Lizardcouple
      @Lizardcouple 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ours here in Henrico va are lime green and reflective white striping. But all the new apparatus they are getting are going back to traditional red and white. People here are the same way about when there coming.

    • @josephbennett3482
      @josephbennett3482 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only rigs that would have bright green color is ARFF Crash units /apparatuses because of visibility for aircraft pilots and safety while on the airfield.

      Me too! I remember fire apparatus having a two bulb round dome red beacon and a mechanical siren with a high intensity red light. Those moved traffic just as well. These days chock it up to the lights and siren industrial complex. lol

    • @expediter99
      @expediter99 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      that is the rehab unit operated by volunteers. they are 'buffs' or aficionados of the fire service. will be called out in extreme temp weather, or long duration calls to hydrate and feed and shelter the crews.
