Apart from this there are historical references which shows how the grandson of Gengiz and other notables accepted islam. Then by late 1300s, 3 out of 4 Khanate accepted Islam. Though I agree that Tatari is a loosely used term to refer Mongols. It was a new info for me that tatars were actually turkish steppe tribes who were merged into Mongol empire by Chengiz Khan. Thanks
