The current situation in Burma (Myanmar) is heating up, and the military is responding by shooting and bashing people with impunity. The arbitrary arrests of people and knocking on the peoples’ doors at midnight are also increasing. The people are extremely united, but they have no arms or weapons. Thiers’s cries with pain are heard by the world. But what can the world bodies do for them? Some commented that the major military powers like USA and NATO are reluctant not to repeat another Libya or a Syria, where different militia groups were fighting with each other, in a power vacuum created by the Western Forces, and creating a never ending suffering. But, Burma is a totally different scenario. Unlike Libya or Syria, there are no factions in Burma. There are only people who want full democracy and the ruling military junta, facing each other. Even though the people are very united, they alone can’t topple the military, unless they have physical support from the world bodies such as the UN, US or the NATO. As China and Russia would never agree to put sanctions on the military junta at the UN Security Council, it is futile to get full agreement from the UN Security Council, to intervene effectively in Burma. Like, as it was in Serbia, if the US and the NATO act upon it in coordinated actions, it will be an effective solution for Burma. It is unlikely that the file and ranks of the military will put up a big fight. They are waiting for something like that to happen, so that they can lay their guns down and walk away. At the moment, they are too afraid of the junta and its savage thugs to do so. Once Burma became free of the yokes of the military, it has to rebuild its military. It is a huge task for Burma, as the army will have to be rebuilt from the scratch. Burma cannot do it alone, unless they get the necessary expertise and help from the international major powers. The world democratic bodies could now show that they protect “Democracy” by protecting these countries like Burma and Taiwan. Otherwise, these countries will fall into the darkness of military dictatorships. It is time to show our true values of Democracy by saving these countries, and to show to the “Democracy loving world”, that WE DO CARE.
Very sad news 😥 We lost a revolutionary soul from this beautiful world. Condemn this heinous act by the dictators of Myanmar from Bangladesh. We Bangladeshi are with the democratic people of Myanmar. The Myanmar army has been a notorious force since it toppled the democratic leaders of Myanmar in 1962. The same military force killed and rapped thousands of ethnic Rohingya minorities in Rakhine. I have talked with many Rohingya children in Bangladesh and they told me how their family members were killed by the same junta. I saw Rohingya children who travelled with me via ship from Teknaf(Bangladesh) to saint Martine island (Myanmar can see from this island) he just cried to go back to his home where his mother was killed. God will punish this murderer who killed the democratic people and Rohingya in Myanmar.
