I just ordered the XP light 2.0 in lavender haze I am so excited
Update, I love it
I have a Letric xpedition and it's been great - the lite wouldn't fit my needs but if it's the same quality it would be a great city cruiser
Appreciate you taking the time to make this 💎
PLEASE INCLUDE demonstration of whether folding bikes can be wheeled when folded vs if they must be carried.
Noted! This can be wheeled around easily enough
Thank you for asking this! This is one of my primary concerns in a folding ebike purchase
It seems like Lectric has not even annouced this 2.0 model yet as of Today as it is missing from it's web site. I rode the XP Lite original for almost 2 years at 6 foot 2" and never had a issue with it being to short. Unless they change specs with this new version 6" 2"" high works great.
I just got mine a month or so back , when pedaling it feels kinda stiff but I believe it to be my front wheel where the brake is screwed to the disc I feel it’s too snug and makes like this almost grinding noise idk if that’s normal ? Should I loosen the brake a bit ? (Also knowing the lite 2.0 is here I would’ve opted for this but I’ll keep on with my current lite )
@@rizeremix4578 No that not normal at all. Should not make a grid noise. Will sqeak for a while while breaking but that will go away after 100 miles or so.
@@rizeremix4578definitely loosen the caliper. Make sure there are a few mm of daylight on either side of the disk.
Yes, I feel like my back wheel is fine. I don’t really feel that much friction against it and when I break it sounds perfectly fine. The front one all those my main issue. Thanks
For the info I appreciate it I’m not too knowledgeable, but I try to pick up whatever I can.
This bike definitely has a niche for someone who needs a lightest weight folding bike, but I think the 3.0 is the better choice for most people who want a folding bike or a Velotric Fold. If they could make this 500w and 3 gears and keep the same weight somehow, it would be a home run, but that might bring the weight too close to a 3.0.
I think the XPress is going to be a great value for a relatively lightweight non folding bike. Really looking forward to that review.
The lightest foldable e- bike around is not Lectric Lite, but brands like Fiido foldable and step through models, also Citizen and equipped electrically for less that if one will be forced to buy Lectric XP Lite 2.0 for $999 in order to have more of a commuter bike and range. Otherwise, Lectric Lite 2.0 is offered way under powered for $799 compared to competition which offers even for less better equipped foldable and step-through e-bikes.
Letric (especially the XP lites) have the best colors 🤩
battery bar is an non issue as long as they still have volts option in display. I like that they changed the gear in the hub cause now it can climb hell hole on throttle. One day they'll change their seatpost from the clamp style. You ride off a curb once seated and it will strip it. The PAS levels seem out of wack, 4 and 5 are useless unless it climbs faster in those settings. Hopefully the cruise control option still available.
Pas 4 and 5 definitely are different on my 3.0 in my hilly neighborhood but in a flat lot 3 and up goes to 20. Also I agree on the battery percentage but I think it would be great to have an estimated percentage on the charger or battery while charging
PAS 4 and 5 do feel different on hills
My guys! Love your reviews.
Thanks for watching!
Do you ever try bikes off road? I gather this one doesn't have shocks, and the ride off pavement was not assessed. Thanks!
Did you calibrate the odometer before your test rides? From factory program 6 might be set at about 22 but you’ll find by riding a set one mile distance the odometer will tell you the distance was less than 1 mile. The program 6 setting might need to be set to at least 23.
Thanks for the excellent video. Does anyone know if the headlights on the upgraded version also allow for a blinking setting? Does this also apply simultaneously to the rear taillights when turned on? Also can you adjust the lights intensity from low to high and vice versa?
Love that Lavender ❤
Why did they skimp on the seat post length? The 1.0 had a longer one.
You look like you’re really suffering pedaling at 60% extension…
Leg extension is definitely on the short side for longer legs. Not entirely sure why the seat post length is shorter now. We'll look into it
I called support to see if I could change it and they said the production versions have the normal seat post because I was also worried about that, unsure why the reviewers got thenshort ones🤷
What app are you using on your phone to keep track of speed?
Looks like the Lectric One is starting to ship, did you guys get your hands on one to start doing a full review to follow up on the March preview video?
Yep! Its coming soon!
I would like to take it with me and I do have a few short kinda steep hills on my bike route but I don’t mind pedaling and getting a workout since I’m a former cyclist so do you think this will be ok and not stall in the middle of a short hill? My other choice was the so 3.0 or portola but I’m not certain I could lift into my suv on my own, I’m 58 and female.
I'd appreciate an explanation of what ghost pedaling is and the impact on rider experience. I'm researching different ebikes and have seen this term but I don't fully understand it. Thanks !
Ghost pedaling occurs most commonly on bikes with cadence sensors, and it happens because the bike's gearing range is not wide enough to keep up with the speed of the bike. The rider ends up turning the pedals freely without helping to propel the bike; the action just keeps the motor engaged.
Should have listened more closely to your review. I just received my Lite 2.0 and not thrilled with the way the pedal assist comes on. PAS 1 is pretty much like zero and PAS 2 is too big a step up. Like you say great for a casual rider that doesn’t want to work much. Not good for me since I would like to get more of a workout. Would be nice if you had more control over the assist level.
Also quality control on mine was not great. Had to remove rear wheel as the freewheel was not tight on the hub and chain was way over-tensioned.
We have two XP's in Canada which we have been enjoying but no longer have confidence in Lectric as they no longer ship internationally. I guess we are hooped if we ever need parts.
Option for longer seat post?
I'm only 140 lbs so I expect the bike will not have any problems with no pedal up a similarly steep slope.
Thank you for a great rundown on the 2.0.
Can this bike be unlocked to go 28mph? I know the standard is 20mph.
Outstanding review! So it sounds like PAS 2 will give me less ghost riding and a little bit more exercise?
I'm not a fan at all of the PAS on this bike, I feel ghost pedaling in PAS 2 because the bike is flying at 15 mph at only PAS 2.. I've seen other reviews where people are only going 8mph in PAS 2, so I gotta figure out that setting.
@@HeyItsAsmus Yeah...I don't want/need 15 mph in PAS 2 either.
@@danc3746 I found that if you change setting P22 to 1, it makes it go back to how the 1.0 Lite was.
Can I put the xplite 2.0 battery in the original xp lite battery compartment
This bike would have been perfect if it didn't have spokes. I think all ebikes should change that because a few companies already have. I wanted a lectric ebike until I saw vitilan and to know they have so much features. Dont get me wrong It's a cute bike just wish lectric would change abit with the wheels spoke and at least add safety break lights. How is It a 2.0 lite but didn't put break lights idk lectric did good on the chain and breaks but that's all they changed. They still have the same battery life 14amp when people are using higher battery life same with other companies. Luckily I did alot of research in brands because whatever some brands lack on others don't. Vitilan is a way better choice because u pay same amount as a xp 3.0 but more better upgrades n better suspension with a 20amp battery to go further and better 750w motor. I was waiting to see if the lectric would change abit the styles but since it looks almost the same im gonna order the vitilan i7 pro 3.0 that's coming out in July with a couple of upgrades.
Vitilan 70 lbs vs XP Lite~48 lbs... HUGE difference if you need to lug it up and down stairs
This bike is amazing I used it for transport i used it to do tricks it's fire
Glad to hear you're putting it to good use!
Pre-order shipping date is now pushed back till August
I JUST ORDERED A 1.0 MODEL 3 DAYS AGO. It's really frustrating that they kept this secret. It really ruined the hype for my 1.0 to arrive this week :/
Maybe see if they're CS team can work something out with you?
@@ElectricBikeReportthe Facebook team told me to pay a 75 dollar fee but their email team told me they'd waive it for free which is really nice.
Same i bought mine a month ago love it but have hydraulic brakes as a option for the same price and a option for long distance it ruined my day
@@ElectricBikeReport Their FB team told me to eat the 75 dollar rerouting fee or kick rocks but their direct emailing team did the reroute for free, will be processing a refund and are allowing me to keep the bike lock and headlight which arrived at my door today. Absolutely shocked. I'm sad that the 2.0 won't ship until July but it looks like it'll be worth the wait based on this video
@@cristian_wrxperez2394 Damn dude I'm sorry 😔 if it makes you feel any better the upgrades aren't gamechangers by any means. If you already have one and are enjoying it you're just missing out on the brakes as you said and the slight motor bump. At least mechanical brakes are both easier to fix and maintenance. Also way cheaper too. I dont know anything about hydraulics so if I crash its game over
love this bike, does it sell in uk?
Still no brake light? Don't get me wrong. We have the blue XP Lite and we like it. The color display is cool, the bmx handlebars are an improvement, etc. But we need suspension and lectric is like the only e-bike maker NOT using an actual BRAKE light ... many have turn signals too.
We've actually been surprised by the number of brands not using brake lights. We're a little more able to excuse that on a sub-$1k bike, but we agree that it would be a great addition!
I had a first Gen XP Lite and relay liked it. However, there was so much ghost pedaling I ended up selling up. I couldn’t stand it.
They have a belt drive version of the xp lite 2 and it has nearly 0 ghost pedal
@@ElectricBikeReport Hmmm, I'm confused by that statement, how exactly would a belt drive remove ghost pedaling?
@@ElectricBikeReporthow does the belt drive effect the ghost pedaling?
@@djSmokeShowI believe it has a larger front ring.
@@redsorgum Ah ok, that makes sense then. Thanks.
How do you charge it up?
So the lavender only comes in a chain?
Yes. The gates carbon drive belt only comes with the black color. I wanted the sandstorm color and was disappointed that it only comes with chain.
It's geared too low. How big a chainring will fit?
The best drive goes all the way to 70t
@@ElectricBikeReport The belt drive version is 70T front 22T rear. 70/22=3.18 The chain drive is 52T/16T=3.25. The chain drive has higher gearing (not a lot higher). 70T is the biggest sproket gates makes, and 22 is the smallest, so there's no way to raise the gearing. The 16T freewheel on the chain drive is the smallest available, so the only option is a bigger chainring in front. The gates sprockets have an 11mm pitch, compared to .5" for the chain, so a 60T chainring would be roughly equal in diameter to the 70T gates belt drive. It can probably fit a little bigger - a 65T would be nice.
Just got the 2.0 lite with extended range battery. Any idea how many miles id get on throttle only with some hills here and there, all pavement?
What would u recommend for comfort and longevity but price conscious?
Any idea if Jesus is your lord and savior?
@@TonyMiguel-ko7cz Nope.
Cadence or torque sensor ?
cadence
Cadence
Question is, do you need gears?
Not nearly as much as a non electric bike. When starting from a stop or going up a hill the motor is providing the extra torque that low gear on non electric bike would provide.
Agreed!
It’s not even on Lectric’s web site yet.
What’s the weight of this bike?
It's about 48 lbs.
please do software update to increase top speed.
to even flow with traffic in neighborhood.. slow isn't always as safe.
Seems a great update and everything but Lectric is tricking its customer by providing fir $799 under market power e-bike which will force the usual customer to upgrade to a market normal power Lite 2.0, which will bring the price to $999. At later price it’s a question whether Lectric customers will not consider XP 3.0 instead, which is also step-through, not only foldable. With other words, somebody in Lectric marketing is playing a misleading game with prospective customers if they pay attention and compare the two power packages Lectric sells its Lite 2.0.
You just have to know what you're getting at the time of purchase. The Lite isn't in the same league as many e-bikes, but if you just need to get out and around a little more in shorter distances, it's great.
Nice, as long as you enjoy feeling every bump and hole you ride over! I do like their bikes, with the exception of a clear lack of shock absorption.
Have you tried this bike? That's the only thing that is keeping me from pulling the trigger!
@@ericasimonson8737 Also, the Wildeway Ebike has a 750W motor that is very powerful. The issues I have with the one I purchased are two, I had to contact them to have the seat & seat-post replaced because it arrived with a seat-post that was too large to fit properly. Yesterday, I went for a long ride. The bike averaged 17mph in PAS 1, in PAS 5 the average was 28mph. The bike has a throttle and is primarily activated by pedaling. I rode up hill at a cemetery with a steep incline a distance of about 4 blocks with no problem. I then rode much longer a total of about 30+ miles before a 1" nail flattened my back tire! I then had to call a friend to pick me up in order to get home since I did not put any flat seal liquid into the tires. Changing a rear tire flat is challenging! If you do not plan on riding faster than around 20 to maybe 25mph the Lectric may satisfy you. I would hope you have a store near you that sells them so you could check out how they feel for you. They may have better tires! I will be replacing mine when it becomes necessary. The Lectric that has a belt and automatic shifting is probably a very nice bike. How well they can actually handle hills I don't know personally. I did purchase insurance for just under $50.00 when I bought my ebike just in case something truly bad failed within the first two years.
@@ericasimonson8737 If I had been willing to pay the higher prices, I would have more seriously considered the Lectric One or one of their bikes with the fully automatic shifting. One thing that jolted me into not going for them was seeing one arrive in a local shop with the shifter completely broken off on arrival. That made me doubt the quality of their plastics.
@@ericasimonson8737 Did I mention that when peddling my wildeway ebike it never feels like one is putting any force into it, unless one is in a very low gear when starting out, in which case on can use the throttle to get the bike going easily. Since it is heavy peddling in the higher gears is easier. On PAS 0, you are peddling with no engine assist. I got in on the Fathers day sale which may be ending soon.
@@ericasimonson8737 Looking into the Lectric a little more, it seems that their average motor (300w / 500w) average I think. I recommend being fully aware of the engine that comes with the bike you consider. Good Luck in finding which is best for your purposes.
Lectric XP 2.0 $799
CONS - No Step Thru, No rack or fender, 300W, 7.8 Ah, 1 speed, 20 MPH, hard seat, 2.5 inch tires
XP 3.0 $999
Pros - Step Thru, 150 lbs rack (passenger seat available), 500W, 10.4 Ah, 7 speed, 28 MPH, Comfort seat, 3.0 inch tires
So Xp 3.0 is a better value
Definitely more versatile features on the 3.0. The Lite is serving a different crowd though. A lot of people just want a reliable 10miles of joyriding and they don't want to break the bank, so if you don't need more features, the Lite is good for that crowd.
Lavender 🎉
👍
I juat rode my first e bike yesterday, Boston City Blue e bike, and im definitely hooked. Im probably getting rhis bike, so im watching a few reviews.
Happy shopping! Let us know if you have any questions.
$200 more for the XP3 all day long. Gears, bigger motor, 150 lb rear rack capacity
You get a lot for the $200 jump for sure!
Hydraulic brakes and color display are good upgrades for this bike. Is the rear light powered by the main battery?
I hope the BMX style bars and color display make their way to the XP models. Though it will affect how compactly the bike folds, it lets you adjust the reach if you rotate the bars at the stem.
About the display, does it retain trip information when powered down? That the biggest issue I have with the monochrome display used in the past.
Regarding lack of assist when you had it in PAS level 1, Lectric has lower speed caps for levels 1 and 2 on their XPedition and XP that also use their PWR power management system. I believe it is 9mph in level 1 on the XPedition. They can be set to respect the overall speed cap of 20 (or 28 on models that can do so). That’s probably why you felt no assistance. I removed it because 4A of current in PAS level 1 is still useful on the XPedition, taking me up to around 14-16mph on flat terrain, rather than stopping at 9mph, extending range on such terrain.
A clarification on the power management style. It’s nowhere close to a torque sensor, despite Levi’s claims it’s a “cheap” way to approximate one. It in no way considers rider effort or speed (other than caps). It is a better way to manage power on a cadence sensor bike. Each level sets a specific amount of current (power, depending on what the battery voltage is at the time) sent to the motor, rather than a speed target and using an arbitrary power curve to get to the target speed. It gives you more control over the bike, but not to the same level as a torque sensor bike does. Still, I’d rather have a current-setting cadence sensor system than a speed-setting one. The latter on a torquey motor can easily make the rider lose control with the initial surge of power after starting from a stop, or at low speed while making tight maneuvers. My Espin Nesta threw me off twice before I increased the number of levels from 5 to 9 and set the lowest levels to really low speed targets so the bike only has the opportunity to surge to 400-500W instead of 900-1000 through its 85Nm hub motor. I really don’t like that style, though some riders do like the surges when ticking up the PAS levels.
Edit: another reviewer posted a chart of the effects of advanced settings. Net, you can set the power management style to either levels corresponding to current/power sent to the motor or speed targets, with the throttle tied to the level settings or max. That’s pretty cool, as each rider can select their preferred style. Still not going to behave like a torque sensor ebike though. And, yes, the default configuration caps level 1 to stop assisting at 9mph, and I think level to at 15mph.
To my knowledge, only Lectric, Mate and Ride1Up use the current-setting style on their cadence sensor e-bikes. Hopefully, more do.
I wonder if they will offer it as a separate purchase. I think they would be compatible with current models.
Who makes the battery cells ? Samsung ?? I've had bad luck with no name battery cells... (edit-- i just called tech support--they do not know )
I see you're trying to lose the pogo stick look by putting those by putting those BMX style handlebars on it
BMX FTW!
I just wanted to tell that Jesus loves you and he wants a relationship with you. If you repent and give your life to him then he will transform your life and make you new. I pray that you will accept him. In Jesus’ name, Amen
I know we always want the impossible, but a softer ride (suspension) and/or gearing would have been great upgrades. I live in a hilly area and the XP Lite is pretty hard to peddle uphill with that single high gear. Interestingly, the mechanical brakes on the XP Lite are fantastic and easy to adjust. I suppose the belt drive is nice? If the new version were lighter with improvements I might be persuaded to upgrade, but it looks like it's actually a little heavier with the big upgrade being the hydraulic brakes. Not persuaded.
With gearing and suspension you may as well make the jump to the XP 3.0 at that point.
Yours is the second video I've seen where an $800 price tag is mentioned, but every email I've received on the new XP 2.0 shows $1,000. What's up with the price difference?
$800 is the price without the gates drive and with the regular battery. $1000 is the price WITH the gates drive, and the long range battery.
The XP Lite 2.0 comes in three models: $1099 for the JW Gates Belt Drive, $999 for the long-range battery, and $799 is for the regular range battery.
Nice ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
thanks!
"SUSPENSION pleeeeeeeeeeeese alreadyyyyy!!!!" Sincerely, my butt.
No thanks, extra weight
The uneven assist levels are pretty much a deal breaker for me. It seems you either go slow or fast but nowhere in the middle. I'd like to go about 12MPH for trails but it doesn't seem like this will let me do it.
You can adjust the output levels in the programming.
Another review site posted a chart with effects of the advanced settings. The default is for assist for levels 1 and 2 to stop at 9 and, I think, 15mph.
You can set it so levels 1 and 2 respectively the same 20mph overall assist speed cap.
This also affects throttle behavior, whether it follows the same power setting of each level or just delivers the 15A maximum the controller can provide. The former is the default and makes the bike easier to control when riding through crowds using the throttle.
Alternatively, you can configure it so each level corresponds to a speed target, with the full 15A of current available, so it will surge as you click into higher levels, with more power the further you are from the target speed, tapering off as you reach it, and cutting you off above the target speed. This is the behavior before they implemented their first PWR system.
@@ElectricBikeReport Cool I might have to pick one of these up as a backup bike.

The new $799 Lectric Lite 2.0 foldable but not step-through is offered way under powered. For this price one have a lot of competition better equipped and even cheaper, while models from Fiido and Citizen are lighter than Lectric Lite 2.0 and more el. power.
No way a belt can outlast a chain. I'll stick to the regular 2.0 lite
Belts can last for years on your car engine! The same brands that make belts for bikes make those too.

"Lite"
Lectric had to make these upgrades, because unlike what this TH-camr said, the prices of ebikes are actually dropping while the features and performance get better. This ebike was overpriced before, and even with the upgrades, is still overpriced for having only a 300w motor, fixed fork, single speed... An honest reviewer would have pointed these facts out. It's time we all as consumers scrutinize these "reviewers" and call them out for what they really are, little more than paid shills for these companies.
Tariffs that are coming in two weeks will be raising prices for most e-bikes in the market. Lectric has already stated they'll keep prices the same. It's pricing it appropriately for what is around the corner, and in our opinion, it's a great value.
Still too pricey for what it is. You’re buying at this price for their customer service. Hopefully it still at the same bar as when they started.
What price do you think it should be?
