    Just another day in the North High Winds and rain yesterday and cold today temp just 12c the good thing I don’t have to bother with green water as I have none however, I will put my normal quarter dose of Colombo Algisin into the pond which I do every 2 months which keeps the walls free from the green stuff.
    Next week Monday I will put some 150ml of Hydrogen Peroxide into the pond this softens the mucus on the fish body I will put Formalin into the pond the next day and Malachite Green 5 days later.
    I turn everything off for each day I put stuff in the pond other than air then everything back on other than UV.
    I don’t know if its just luck or my system works but I have never had problems with anything on the fish.
    I know a few people with fluke have used Formaldehyde and found it better than other treatments I have purchased some myself just in case.

    Congratulations on the 2k Phil mate!🙌🏼
    Totally wish I could use the 2 bottom inlets but it’s tight to get in there! Nevertheless it shouldn’t happen what ever inlet you use on a 4K drum! I’m pushing 25,000lph though it but also I’m feeding 260grm a day atm so that’s possibly a lot more than you? That may be the problem. Also at the top where the waste gets sprayed out off the screen to the waste pipe it actually misses the tray and falls back in to the drum!!!!! 🙈

    • @TelfordKoiPond
      @TelfordKoiPond  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Lee👏. 260grm a day is indeed significantly more than I’m feeding atm😳. I will definitely investigate the waste missing the tray as that could be an issue in the peak of the season but luckily I haven’t noticed anything like that yet🤞🤞🤞. Just about to watch your latest video and am guessing there are exciting time’s ahead 👍😊

    When I started my intro was massively long (the video's are still there) and I cut it down to a 10 second splash video. I was told by these YT growth channels that anything more than 40 secs stops people watching your videos. So I changed it. People still don't watch my videos but at least they don't watch from the start now lmao. Very interesting with the drum. The flow would make a huge difference I would think. I think if I had a drum with only one feed I would split it across the two inlets. The flow would then be going the right way. It's definitely a good tip for when I build my next pond. Instead of attaching those pipes to the drum lid why dont you put a hook in the wall to attach them to. You wouldn't need to remember to remove them when you take the lid off the drum then.

    • @TelfordKoiPond

    2k nice effort. Always adapting hope the airstone helps.
    Quick one is that a 3-2 rubber boot on your lower waste outlet. Need to buy something. Had my fibfeglasser here today but floor under insulation too wet squelching up thru so cut it out and hoping for a good dry week and more heat to get it dry enough to re- lay for glassing. Loads other stuff to do in the mean time 😤🙄

      Hello Daz🖐. I’ve only just watched Lee’s latest video so didn’t realise he was having a problem with his jets. Don’t think they are adjustable but I will be checking tomorrow 😊👍. He said he got his inlet blanking cap of someone named Daz, is that you? Can you provide those caps?. Must admit I like the idea of extending the inlets with a pit of tube so might try that🤔. Hi mate interesting take on the crap build up. I have the same Oase combi system but only using the bottom left 4" inlet from the bottom drain. Is your skimmer gravity fed into the drum?

    • @TelfordKoiPond
      @TelfordKoiPond  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Chris. Yes, Skimmer is gravity fed into bottom left inlet using 1.5" pipe and the 4" bottom drain line goes into the bottom right inlet. I used 1.5" pipe to ensure the pull through the skimmer wasn't taking too much away from the bottom drain line but found that it was so use the ball valve to restrict the flow further. Took a bit of trial and error to get it spot on but happy with where it is now. :)

    • @chrismclean6687
      @chrismclean6687 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TelfordKoiPond brilliant mate thanks for getting back to me. My skimmer is a floating one that is pumped through a k1 bead filter, I might try setting it up to see if it flows in by gravity. Makes a lot of sense about 1 inlet not forcing through the crap.

  • @raysharman7162
    @raysharman7162 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Phil, I have just finished installing my Oase Drum Filter, same model as you but on a pumped system. I have a few questions which I hope you won't mind me asking. 1. What have you set your periodic cleaning cycle at? Factory setting came as 20mins which I have changed to 40mins at present. 2. What size air pump do you have circulating the media? 3. How much Hel X media do you have in and how much Pads?....Cheers Phil, and agreed it's a great bit of kit. Just lifting off the lid is a workout! 👍😊

    • @TelfordKoiPond
      @TelfordKoiPond  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No problem at all, ask away😊👍.
      1. I set the cleaning period to 20 minutes all summer and then every 40 minutes for the spring and autumn and every 60 minutes (biggest gap you can programme) for the winter. I’m on every 40 minutes at the minute as I’m still reducing the heat of the pond 19 degrees at the minute, down from 24 in summer - will go down to 10 over winter just to manage any temp fluctuations).
      2. I have a 60 lph air pump working at the minute as I’ve just put another 10 litres of Oase pond pads in and the extra air helps them mature/reach neutral buoyancy quicker) but I normally run a 40 lph air pump as that gives the media a really nice “rolling” effect rather than the very turbulent action of the 60 lph.
      3. I have 80 litres of Helx13 and 20 litres of Oase pond pads including the additional 10 litres of pads I added recently. This is over the recommended volume of media but it works nicely for me and my pond.
      I know what you mean about the lid but I guess that just goes to show how well made the whole unit is. I still love mine and have it working extremely well now that everything has matured and the flow rates are right for pumps I’m using (in summer I turn over the whole pond every how but then reduce that to every 2 hours in winter).
      Hope this helps, don’t be afraid to ask if you have any more questions😊👍
      Phil.
