    Alex - I'm glad to see that you've come to my part of Brooklyn, but this dude right here, lost a lot of respect in the eyes of many for his behavior immediately after his son was shot. I don't doubt that he's coping with a lot at this point.

    • @Powerule23
      @Powerule23 8 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      +Mr poked your girl His behavior after his son was killed was, as several people remarked in Brownsville and East New York, "despicable". He assaulted photographers reporting the story and generally represented all that is wrong with some people who seem to relish thug life. I'm sure he had issues in his background affecting bad decisions, but he had a long rap sheet before his son was killed and knew that he was being targeted. So, instead of taking precautions for his son, he brought him outdoors where an inevitable attempt on the his life resulted in the son's death. I don't doubt that this guy is remorseful, but his behavior after this shooting took place was sad, to say the least. To refer to the child as his "son" is also to imply that he's a "father:" and quite frankly, being a responsible father seems secondary to his lifestyle.
      Our history of gangs in NYC is rather limited - they died out in the late 70's for the most part.. The majority of the stuff these dudes are now doing is a direct copycat of LA, a place where gangs are indigenous and historical to their environment. The Crips and Bloods, the necessity in New York's jails and prisons aside, is mainly manufactured within the streets of NYC. Granted, many of our gang members would be engaged in criminal behavior under other collective titles, but as far as Crips and Bloods goes, that's a west coast tradition and this "life" that this dude and other like him is beyond a poor choice. (they weren't born into gang culture; they copied it). I say this as a Brooklynite with a history of juvenile violence, that fortunately, I was able to iron-out due to strong black men who wouldn't allow me to follow their ways, much like a lot of the gang members depicted in Alex's west coast videos. (Even if this dude didn't have the benefit of such guidance, his excessive behavior remains inexcusable).
      Here's a bit more about this dude who boasts about "Pistol St" as opposed to Bristol St. AFTER his son is killed:

    Okay so let me try to get this straight: 823 G-Stone Crips branched off from California, 456? Which is a number only claimed by the Island Pirus in Pomona? But he says 456 is Farm Dog Compton Crip, which according to him is a neighborhood set for some reason? And august 23rd refers to a building number but the date itself represents nothing in particular? So he's from 823-456 Farm Dog Neighborhood G-Stone Crip?

I always remember Hollywood Smurf Snoop and rest of the Crips and JD Julio and Quan in the wheelchair reppin BGD{Q loc later turned Crip}. That was late 95 early 96 when I got to the 8th grade in 275 on Roccaway and Heageman. I remember when the Plaza Headz turned blood on Stone ave{later Mother Gaston}and 90'z Mafia turned Crip on 95th & Clarkson ave. It was a domino effect after that

    Although I’m not into gang life I did grow up in the 90’z where 823 started and I know for a fact syke bike started it. I remember when they were going around jumping random people telling them they crip now. The villa didn’t turn crip til later most of it was blood. Marcus Garvey projects was probably the first crip hood out there I went to school with one of they og’s who’s gone now (R.I.P manny) and he wasn’t even banging crip til around 97 maybe 98. I myself might of joined they gang back then but didn’t due to the fact that some of they recruits that’s actually og’s now was rats back then I got locked up for robbing one of them and not only did I not do it but this same dude watched another dude slap his Mom and they called the cops on me and left him. That’s when I knew that wouldn’t be a good idea. I know a lot of history about them they had some real ones but they also had a lot of fakes as well. I won’t call names because it’s all ignorant and I don’t want people to think it’s cool.if you are a kid reading this stay in school create a business. Get your act together and leave gangbanging alone it’s not worth it. But if you must do it remember you are adding to a problem that will affect your kids one day. Look at this dude he’s a prime example of why you shouldn’t bang. I feel sorry for him he doesn’t truly know his history he just knows he’s a crip and let’s kill a blood. He’s a real one. Which he is a real victim of the previous generation of dudes that lied to him for they own benefit. I myself am ashamed of us not being there for these youngsters. So if it’s worth anything I’m sorry for failing you guys. I hope you can forgive me and all the others from my generation. Just know I’m working hard to fix any damage my generation has done .

    • @Gmeproductions1
      @Gmeproductions1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @823 Brooklyn Loc I’m not sure if he ever did. I’m from the 90’s and we usually stayed in the hood back then. No real mixing. I do know he was well known throughout the beginning of the ville like riverdale legion and Saratoga. I had family in Brownsville projects, Tilden projects, riverdale towers and Vandyke so I ventured out there every now and then but most of the hood was segregated. Even internally. It was one side of remsen 91,92 93rd was neutral and 94th,95th,96 ran together. I’m talking Clarkson. He bridged the gap with everyone. He use to be on Winthrop and 91st and back then you couldn’t just go up there.

      Jeshua XL Collins but thats cuz folks from L.A. got family out east and when they returned for whatever reason they brought that with them and it stuck. Lots of sets out there have actual ties to the original block where they have the east coast come visit L.A. and vice versa to keep that interstate connecting. Not just bodies people want anymore they want range now. They want to be able to go to the east coast and do business and vice versa. Cuz its way more valuable to have 10 solid homies rather than 100 that might fold.

    Think you really have to think about adding other voices to your content. You are giving gang members a voice but you need to open a space for others too. Other voices need to be heard like earlier generations. Find dudes who were in gangs or grew up around them but found there own way. You have to balance this with something else. Compare active gang members with something else to bring out other insights.

      Alex A. Alonso why don't you start a paid section? Take a chance and take a free video interview and add about 20 more minutes of content to it but make that paid. Once you get members to buy the paid product just constantly market to them and include their analytics in your decisions as you can. Keep it affordable by the piece or charge a monthly with minimum on content. I'd buy with no problem and others would too. But just doing the patron thing is kinda like asking for a handout you know? And I think by what you are offering there is no need to do that because you do have a brand here and loyal customers as well as advocates. You need more content to pull in the paid customers. All the best.

    • @preservation_of_institutions
      @preservation_of_institutions 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex A. Alonso oh and Alex the Patreon would perhaps work better if marketed to members. Do you have the emails of the people/customers who are interested, loyal and who advocate for streetgangs.com? You should and you can hit them off with emails about specific reasons you need money. Consistently give them free content (which you do) and make supporting seemless (get an email, push a button) done. Maybe you've already done this.

  • @preservation_of_institutions
    @preservation_of_institutions 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Don't be like some businesses that only listen to customers that give praise. The business you're in is dealing with a problem "young men who have gone astray" and that requires efforts at a solution. I'd support you but just listening to burnt out gang members ain't gonna get it. I like hearing them from time to time but eventually it becomes a broken record.

    It sucks to see such incredible artist collectives driven by ego and necessity to make unhealthy decisions. I hope more folks from Brownsville get the chance to get the fuck out of New York and experience the vast beauty in the nature of this world. The life Antiq deserved

    Gang bangin and gang members in this generation goofy AF….. back then , everybody knows if a man with his child he isn’t allowed to get touched nor confronted……never mind I’m foolish to even say that… you don’t need to be a gang member to even know that isn’t right …

    New Jersey has a way more authentic gang culture..... no need to waste time on nyc , which is really watered down hip hop culture, not gang culture at all.

    By the crime statistics, the highest concentration of activity in Brooklyn is between Crown Heights and Brownsville. Then around those two neighborhoods you have Flatbush, East Flatbush, East NY, Bed-Stuyvesant and Bushwick.
